Dolly Parton Documentary Is Open Book

Posted: September 24th, 2008 at 1:46 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Dolly PartonDocumentaries are for film snobs. But this one is more of a Dollymentary. Canadian Filmmaker Natasha Ryan is the one behind The Book Lady, and says the contradiction of Dolly Parton having a literacy project was massive. But once she got to know Parton’s Imagination Library project better, she ended up making a film about everything Parton is doing to get books into kids’ eager hands early. Keith Urban and Miley Cyrus have roles in the film, too. And there’s even a few seconds of a kindergarten-aged Dolly running towards the camera. The film debuted at last weekend’s Atlantic Film Festival.

Breaking Up With Miley Cyrus

Posted: July 22nd, 2008 at 2:34 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

I love break-up songs. Even pop ones. But coming from a 15-year-old? I’m not so sure. MTV calls Miley Cyrus‘ new single, “7 Things,” one of hook-ups and heartbreak. Does Billy Ray, the good Christian that he is, know about this? I thought he wasn’t going to let her date just yet. Yet now she’s writing songs about falling in love and getting her heart broken. Please. Again, she’s 15. I don’t think that’s too young for a crush, but the real broken hearts come later.

And if you think I’m wrong, check out the video, where Cyrus’ peers are clutching teddy bears. I guess empty whiskey bottles would’ve really been inappropriate.

Around the Web: Taylor Swift, Gretchen Wilson Preview New Music

Posted: July 15th, 2008 at 5:13 pm  |  By: Link Ray

Patience may be a virtue, but Taylor Swift fans don’t need to wait a minute longer to hear her newest banjo-laced tune “I Heart Question Mark.”

And while you’re at it, take a listen to Gretchen Wilson’s just-released sassy rocker “Don’t Do Me No Good.”

Even when Miley Cyrus is getting clean, some people think it’s a little dirty.

Jessica Simpson is just a country girl at heart. One who vacations in Lake Tahoe and hangs on yachts, but still.

She’s shopping, traveling, playing guitar and hanging with her son. Shania Twain sure makes single motherhood look easy.

Lee Ann Womack admits that the pull of needing to be home with her daughters kept her out of the studio. But she has a new album due out in the fall, and some think it’ll be an award winner.

You’re bound to add more friends if the Road Hammers welcome everyone to your MySpace page. Which they will, if you’re one of their lucky video contest winners.

Access Hollywood caught Maureen McCormick, Carnie Wilson and Bobby Brown in bed together at a place called Outsider’s Inn.

Around the Web: Carrie Underwood’s Beach Photos

Her great figure isn’t news to anyone. But after all her hard work making hit after hit, it’s nice to see Carrie Underwood getting a little R&R.

Before there were flat irons and highlights, there was Billy Idol. And he must’ve been the inspiration for Keith Urban’s hairstyle.

It’s a match made in dreamy teen heaven. Taylor Swift was spotted at a Jonas Brothers concert in Dallas, and now some folks have her linked with Joe Jonas.

He’s walking the line, alright. And with Snoop Dogg’s cover of a Johnny Cash classic, he may have actually crossed it.

Sugarland talks openly about making Love on the Inside and their hopes that fans will be inspired after their show.
