Do Carrie Underwood's Thigh Highs Go With Her Wedding Band?

Posted: August 2nd, 2010 at 2:07 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Carrie UnderwoodShe was there to sing. OK, sing and maybe show off her brand new wedding ring (a diamond band by Jonathon Arndt). But when I saw Carrie Underwood on the Today show on Friday (July 30), doing "Cowboy Casanova," then "Undo It," I was looking past the ring to the rest of the get-up. Thigh-high stockings (or were they boots?) Blouse, necktie and mini sport coat? And hair extensions? I guess becoming Mrs. Mike Fisher hasn't turned Underwood into a housewife just yet. Between songs, she told host Matt Lauer what married life is like so far. "It's a lot like dating life. It's good. We're both very busy people and understand each other's life," she said. "So we're OK with it." Fisher wasn't there because he's up in Canada teaching kids at a hockey school. And she even took a second to comment on the buzz about what will happen at the judge's table on American Idol. Everybody asks me, 'You know anything?' I know what you know. I have nothing!" she admitted.

Is Mike Fisher suppose to change how he plays hockey because he got married? And what’s wrong with the way she is dressed? Really don’t understand the point of this blog.

She’s worn that exact same outfit before and it looks incredible. And, not at all trashy. Were you looking for that frumpy mess you wear?

What, now that she’s married she has to dress like a frump. Her marital status is the only thing that changed, not her.

what do housewives look like allison??…probably if it met your approval im assuming….”boooooorrrrring”.

carrie is independent and career oriented she wont change for a man and i dont think mike would want her too either, she is married however she has work to do and part of that is dressing stylish since she is in the public eye, did you honestly think she was going to bring out the apron!!!!.

i think she has a great body so she can pull off anything, if you want to find her in a sparkley dress with cowboy boots and hair flying on stage if thats your sense of fashion then you will be disapointed with carrie because she changes her look all the time she doesnt wear the same dress but in different sparley colors, carrie actually has a great style..and she pulls it off…

carrie underwood sang her songs “live” and she sounded AMAZING,…since you didnt go into that allison…did you find the need to critique her style because thats all you can say about carrie..you gotta bring her down in some way, i find it really disrespectful that your picking on the way someone looks “shame on you”…
first of all not only are you offending carrie you are offending all women who are married yet don’t “look the part” of a housewife.
F.Y.I.,… A LOT OF WOMEN who are married or just married don’t look like librarians, and dont cater to the husband… we are the “anti-joan clevers”…we have careers,we work hard, we do our own thing,we aren’t always clingy to our husbands, it’s called having an identity… we love fashion and we love dressing classy yet sexy like carrie…so many of us don’t fit the “housewife look”…and if thats a bad thing then a bad thing never felt so good….i dont like this blog and YOU as a woman should be ashamed of yourself!

by the way what era are you from..this is 2010 not 1910!!

“wow”….if this blog doesnt say “HATER”, i don’t know what does!!!..this is a poor blog….the only thing that made sense is that “she was there to sing” the rest is balony…

what i find disturbing,is how can anyone, in this case you allison, how can you come up with a conclusion by the clothes on someone’s back that they aren’t fit to be a housewife yet? hmmm…do you know her personally?? in other words what your really trying to say is that because of how carrie is dressed and i don’t even know how hair extensions even matter in this, but apparently your saying that because of her look she isn’t ready to be married??…do you realize what your even saying???…let me remind you that we don’t know what carrie is like off camera or at home and we dont know the relationship between mike and carrie…you are judging a woman by what she is wearing, and i find this blog disgusting especially since you are a woman,i don’t know how you even wrote a blog with no meaning and be proud of your stereotyping on women. haven’t you ever heard of “don’t judge a book by it’s cover”….you are steretyping what a housewife should look like, you should know that the word “housewife” has a different meaning for the career-oriented woman,we aren’t your average betty crockers, we are the women who work hard, have careers, are independent, strong, and yet at the end of the day we go home to our “husbands” and raise our families, we do it all and most women are out there just like the men putting food on the tables, we do it all i don’t like the word housewife, because thats not who we are, maybe it’s who you are, but for the rest of us career women, who have things going on besides the cookies in the oven, were the “superwomen”…just thought i would educate you on the women who do it all..let me point out to you that just like all women carrie goes to work she has a career, she has goals and ambitions and she strives to get there, and when she is off the clock like just like the rest of us, we take care of what needs to be done,i’m sure she does the same, so perhaps you shouldnt judge a book by its cover, because it sounds to me you don’t know what a career women is like…it isn’t the shoes, the hair ext., or the outfit a woman has on, but its the person and who they are that makes up a great “superwomen”….

Carrie is a very beautifull lady and she has the voice to match,SHE HAS PURE NATURAL GOD GIVEN TALENT,…and THIS SHOULD BE THE FOCUS ON YOUR BLOG…not about what she is wearing…how superficial!

are you saying an outfit makes a housewife???…..so she wore,Thigh-high stockings (or were they boots?) Blouse, necktie and mini sport coat? And hair extensions…, so this means to you that she hasn’t turned into a housewife yet? since when does the outfit of a women turn her into a housewife?…i thought being a wife consisted of other things besides the clothes on a womens back!!..seems you are a very superficial person, can you post a picture of yourself so we can see what a housewife looks like, im assuming their will be no style or any sense of fashion in your outfits??? we’ll be the judge, lets see if you like being depicted….your out of line!!

i agree, marriage is like dating in the sense that you still honor, respect and love each other, the only difference is that you made a vow before God and in front of family and friends to be true to each other.
carrie and mike are busy career oriented people so for them they have to understand each others and what they require from the both of them but there ok with it because its better to be together then not at all…and i bet they appreciate each other a whole lot more…when they do see each other and spend time together…

It’s just you dont like it and it has nothing to do with her being married. You better clarify your statements before you publish it. I know you are not a fan.

you were looking past the ring and onto her get-up?? and this is what you decided to blog about? her boots, necktie and hair extensions, etc..? “whaaaaat are you for real?”
from all of this..you gather that she isn’t quite ready for housewife duties because of her get-up?..is this some kind of joke or something??….really allison, you have to stop being so superficial and stop fixating on appearances..”didn’t your mama ever tell you that it’s not polite to put a women down based on your own insecurities?”..you really are being silly.
now for more important things Carrie sang amazing and she was “live” not many singers can sound like they do on the album ;)*wink*wink
i was blown away as usual by her performance, and she looked really happy being “Mrs. Fisher”…..she has many projects going on right now, i know one of them is that she just wrapped up a duet with kristen chenoweth and she has many more projects to come hopefully more duets if so i wonder who??….

being a “housewife” doesn’t mean staying home and raising babies’ while the man goes out to work..”AT LEAST NOT IN THIS GENERATION”… most “housewives” have a career and other things in their life going on for them that are important like carrie, it is important to not lose “who you are” because you are married, you can’t make the man your life that’s not healthy…and being a wife doesnt define a person either, in this day and age women are more and more independent and strong, were not betty crocker’s at home raising babies’,waiting for the men to come home so he can have a nice warm meal..LOL ..if thats your idea of housewife, i feel bad for you.
i think her outfit is cute and the necktie gives it a edge …it’s cool you didnt like it, but don’t judge someone by an outfit, thats not nice….and that’s where you went wrong with this blog.

  • Robin says:

    Posted: August 3rd, 2010 at 12:22 pm

And, by the way, he wasn’t trying to turn her into a “housewife”. Why would he, he’s not a “househusband”?

She’s his “wife”, simple and easy, not “housewife”, “carwife”, “garagewife” or anything else like that. Just a wife.

She’s a wife that happens to be a professional as well. But, who she is as in her career choice, isn’t attached to her wifedom unless it specifically relates to it. Like a profession of “porn star” probably doesn’t fit well with the personal choice of being a wife. But, Carrie isn’t that. She’s a professional entertainer. Seperately from that, she’s a wife.

Get it now? Or should we call you “bad writerwife”?

carrie is a wonderful vocalist and she’s very versatile, she can sing anything from 80’s rock to metal and sound phenominal she is one of a kind, and as a fan i couldn’t be any prouder or ask for anything more, not only is she extremely talented, but she comes off very sweet, genuine and down to earth, i admire that she has strong beliefs in God and she isn’t afraid to proclaim her faith, sometimes using religion can be controversial..and she isn’t afraid to say “i believe in God and thank God in her speeches”…i think Carrie is a wonderful girl who has her head on straight, she respects and values herself and she has great morals to show for it, she has a good heart and she is always trying to give to a charity or representing a charity bringing awareness of the importance of helping others… she is a great professional artist, however she is a even greater person, and that is why Mike married her he obvious fell in love with Carrie’s heart and what she stands for as a person,i dont think he expects anything more from Carrie but to make him proud and be his “WIFE”….i think that what a person decides to wear shouldn’t matter or shouldn’t define who they are, she will always dress girly and fashionable she’s in the business that requires her to look the part..it goes with the job… instead we should look at the talent and the person when writing about them rather then to nitpick on the little things in life such as “an outfit or hair extensions”…this is petty and very unprofessional blog…sad when all a person can do is focus on material and cant get past an outfit, that says a lot about allison’s character.

I must say one thing here, in reference to a wife staying home and taking care of her family: that is exactly what God created us for, to be our hubby’s help mate. We are the ones called to nurture, and the men are the “hunters”. Maybe our society wouldn’t be in such a sad state, if the women were home spending time with their children,(which is what every child really desires);teaching them how to love God, treat others, and be responsible citizens, instead of having “latch key” kids! I doubt if anyone could argue that the moral values of our nation today have plummeted to an all time high.

  • becca says:

JGal, so because women wanna do something more with their lives than raise children, the nation is doomed? how about the man stays home with the kids? what if the woman is better at bringing in the money. my goodness, this is the 21st century. welcome, have a drink

Actually God created us to worship him.

Colossians 1:16 says “For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.”

You will notice it says “FOR HIM”. Not “except women were created FOR MEN”.

    I don’t see that part.

JGal- i love God and believe in God, i was raised in a christian home, but i DON’T SHARE YOUR VIEWS!…i don’t believe God made women for ONE PURPOSE only, yes he made women for men back in the “adam and eve” days and yes we are the nurterers, and we were made to reproduce, however i would like to believe that God has a purpose for me and that he “only” didn’t make me to cater to a man and stay home and raise babies, there is a purpose for everyone and i don’t know if you’ve noticed but where in a different time era and generation, woman have come along way!!…YOUR INSANE!….
WOMEN THESE DAYS ARE STRONG,INTELLIGENT AND INDEPENDENT,and that is what my mama raised me to be, she has given me great morals, values, and to respect myself and to never let anyone hold me down along with my strong belief in God, AND SHE WAS A SINGLE MOTHER working 2 jobs to put food on the table, so goes to show you that the point you are trying make is WRONG!!…what you are doing is insulting women all over the world who can’t be home because they are single mothers and they have to provide for their household, they work hard, their career oriented, and they are also mothers and try their best to raise their babies the best way they know how, thats what my mama did and thats why these type of women are heroes in my book, i think you need to sit back and relax and not be so judgemental, this is why i choose not to go to church because of people like you who are judgemental its just sickening that so many people who preach religion are the ones who look down on others lifestyles…when in fact people are just trying to survive and do what they can for their families.

society is in such a sad state because this isn’t heaven their are bad people everywhere..gov’t and politics are alwasy going to be crooked…..

“latchkey kids” …wow what a great religious person you are your namecalling and placing labels on people???…….”wow”

My God,i think i have heard it all now, i would expect a man to demand such “CRAZY” behavior from a woman, but a woman(i think) is actually saying that all we are good for is to be at the mans’s beck and call and stay home and bottlefeed!!??? because that is our calling???? WHAT THE FUDGE IS THAT ABOUT?? i don’t know whether to laugh or to be offended? this comment is absurd!!…JGal i feel sorry for you because it seems you are soOOOOO confused Honey,we live in 2010 this is a new day,it seems you have done some backpeddling back in time because this isn’t 1910 where women didn’t have rights and were just the nurterers and babymakers, and nothing else or nothing more… HONEY TIMES HAVE CHANGED YOU NEED TO EMBRACE “EQUALITY”…because women have come so far, we have women who are senators, we even had a woman run for president”this is HUGE for women”… and i’m sure these women in congress, politics, the doctors, the lawyers, the CEO’S AND SO ON i’m sure they have babies YET WE MANAGE TO WEAR MANY HATS and thats why women to me are “SUPERHEROES”…and you should be proud of that..
i believe in God and i am a christian but i DO NOT believe God put me here to nurture a man or a baby, theres more to a woman then that, and God is a fair God and he would never put a woman down like that…CARRIE IS A CHRISTIAN GIRL STRONG IN HER FAITH,…so is she suppost to quit her career because shes married now and start popping out the kids because as a woman that is her supposed calling???…i think you are confused so so confused i pity your views on women and what is more shameful is that you are a women im assuming…..sad that some women like you try to hold other women down!!…i pity the fool..

    Posted: August 6th, 2010 at 8:39 am

By the way, my comments to JGal isn’t to say that doing something else is “more” than being a stay at home mom. Being a stay at home mom is a wonderful, beautiful, Godly (CHOICE). I support everyone who makes that CHOICE and everyone who doesn’t.

We all have one purpose - that’s to glorify God. We all have many roads to take to meet that purpose and we should support each other. Not all choices in life are Godly, but that is not defined by our career path, it’s defined by Biblical principal.

To determine Godliness of choices, you need to turn to HIS word, not someone else’s choices even if those choices are based on his word. Choices are path driven and she be based on the standard (HIS WORD). It’s his word that’s the standard, not other people’s choices.

If you want to say a choice is unGodly, don’t just give me your opinion, give me the words from HIS WORD.

  • marie says:

    Posted: August 6th, 2010 at 2:32 pm

Carrie is a beautifull woman and she has a career and she serves God…so that’s her choice how she prefers to live her life…as long as she’s a good person, and follows God in her faith thats all that matters, theres nothing in the bible where it states women cant serve God and have a career, i agree with Robin, if a woman decides to stay home and raise babies or if a woman decides to raise babies and have a career it is their choice whatever makes them happy, i dont think Gid will judge someone based on who stayed home and who didnt….JGal that is more like an opinion then a factual statement in the bible…

  • JGal says:

    Posted: August 7th, 2010 at 1:24 am

Robin, I will be glad to get back to you with HIS Word, and all the rest here that took my comment out of context, but right now I am at a hospital with a friend of mine whose hubby is fighting for his life with a dissected aorta! I will say quickly, my statement was speaking in “general”, not directing at any one group of women, like the single mom, who I know all too well, the sacrifices she has to make just to put food on the table for her children! I do not believe I am being judgmental, just commenting on a belief I have, and yes I do turn to the Word of God, studying His Word, almost daily. I do believe that God is the same today, yesterday, and tomorrow. It is “man” that has changed his way of thinking, not the Lord!

  • JGal says:

    Posted: August 7th, 2010 at 1:40 am

Oh, I forgot, I must add one thing. Isabella, just so you know, referring to “latchkey” kids is NOT name calling. The definition is as follows:
Latchkey kid or latchkey child refers to a child who returns from school to an empty home because his or her parent or parents are away at work, or a child who is often left at home with little or no parental supervision.
I won’t even go into the negative effects that were also documented. You can go and read them for yourself!

  • Robin says:

    Posted: August 9th, 2010 at 8:57 am

JGal - just because a name has a definition, doesn’t mean it’s not “name calling”. It is labeling to put a name on people.

Is it an appropriate name? That’s another question.

  • Robin says:

    Posted: August 9th, 2010 at 9:14 am

JGal - God certainly is the same today, yesterday, and tomorrow, but he applies principles to different world cultures. And, that does not mean he has changed his principal. And, that doesn’t mean that some cultural activities aren’t wrong in his eyes. But, that is defined specifically.

Just like you can’t say, well, King David was a shepard so God meant us all to be shepards. Do you think he meant for mean to have hundreds of wives and concubines? To misapply God’s word that way is very dangereous. God speaks to people personally through his word. He has given us a world of “examples” of those principals whether he’s showing the good outcome or the bad outcome. That doesn’t mean he has the same path for everyone.

By the way, in Genesis 2:18, the term helpmate is translated from the Hebrew “ezer kenegdo” which actually translates as an EQUAL and corresponding strength. It more acurately translates as a full partnership.

ok first of all, what does the title tell you? “do carrie underwood’s thigh highs go with her wedding band?”. excuse me, and maybe it’s just me but what in the world does “do carrie underwood’s thigh highs go with wedding band” have to do with her performance or her appearance at the “today show”?is it really something major? have you forgotten how her performance went? or how phenomenal her vocals were or how she drew such a big crowd of people blocking at least 4 blocks and coming as early as 2am JUST to see carrie underwood?

I’ve read many articles allison has written on carrie- from what I’ve read by allison- seems very prejudiced-resulting in many “miscues”.

sorry but carrie deserves so much more. give credit where it’s due and please don’t use carrie underwood as some “thing” you can just go around mocking. oh, you didn’t flat out make an insult to her face? funny how you can say more then by what you don’t write .
