Carrie Underwood Wedding: Chantilly Lace, Classical Music and Bible Readings

Posted: July 11th, 2010 at 1:40 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Classical music? I guess that's OK. You can't really walk down the aisle to the cry of a steel guitar. So Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher chose classical music and Bible readings to make their wedding day (July 10) a spiritual one. And according to People magazine, the bride wore a Chantilly lace Monique Lhuillier dress, which I'm sure was gorgeous even though I've seen no pictures to corroborate that. (Underwood's publicist says there are no plans to release wedding photos to the media.) "We could not feel more blessed to have found each other and to have shared this day with our friends and family that mean so much to us!" the newly-married couple told the magazine. Best of all, they signed the statement "Mike & Carrie Fisher." I'm sure it's the first of many times they'll write their names together like that. But still, that first time is just so romantic.

Awww, I know , it is romantic and the whole affair sounds so romantic - it says something for getting married while still in the throes of those first beautiful years instead of moving in with each other and waiting five years to tie the knot. And Brandon Heath tweeted he sang at her wedding and Carrie had picked his song Love Never Fails for the wedding and I bet he sang that and how beautiful that must have been, can you imagine? Carrie and Mike are fortunate to have found each other, even though it took a while for the friends to get them together - they would tell Mike , you should meet Carrie and they would tell Carrie you should meet Mike and even when he came to see her in Toronto she made sure someone was there with her when she met him - AND now LOOK!! MARRIED!!!

People Magazine has the rights to the photos and will be releasing the pictures next week. Her publicist said no media gets the pictures OTHER then People magazine, so we will see all the photos soon. Carrie said in a radio interview a month or so ago that she was in negotiations with a publication for release of the photos. People magazine is the only one with any info about the dress, etc, and they had an exclusive cover story for her engagement announcement. Also, they allegedly paid Carrie 2 million for the photos.
Photos will be coming in People mag soon, per her publicist.

Dude looks like Herman Munster. I have a feeling these two will soon become the most annoying couple in pop culture. Mr and Mrs Underwood

I dont know about u guys, but for carrie to SELL her wedding pics for 2 mil. How tacky is that. Doesnt she make enough money? Do any of u realize that this whole security and craziness for this wedding was really uncalled for. Tim and Faith McGraw got married in a church across from a park with NO security. If you look at other stars weddings, NO ONE made such a big deal out of theirs expect Carrie. Was this all necessary? I also heard hotel guests were told by letter to leave the plantation by noon thursday so Carrie could take over the hotel at a tune of $268.000 per night. How rude is that one. Carrie is a great singer with a great fan base but please, we need 2 counties of police to handle her wedding and someone has to pay top dollar to see pictures? I would love for everyone to say “No thanks”. Where is our country Carrie?

I agree with Rodney. They are already annoying. and if bud thinks Underwwod had anything to do with this wedding you’re mistaken. Her record label controls her every move. It called publicity, and it’s working. Her handlers are good, only if they could teach her how to talk now instead of “uh” um” “like” and “omg” every other word

It’s a shame that people feel the need to come out with such negativity for what is a joyous event in someone’s life.

Additionally, y’all need to get your facts straight before criticizing someone. A poster said that People “allegedly” paid $2 million for the pictures. We don’t know if that’s true or not. If the happy couple are able to control how their wedding photos are shared with the public (and you know one way or another, people are gonna get a hold of them), then why not be paid for them from a reputable magazine instead of some gossip tabloid like US, Ok, Star, etc. As for how much they are paid for them, that’s not any of our business or concern. If they are receiving a high sum, then for all we know, they’ll donate most, if not all, of it to charity. If they choose not to, again… not your concern.

Seems to me the security measures were warranted given how many journalists tried getting in. I remember when Madonna married Sean Penn and how the paparazzi crashed it. Considering the number of famous people attending, they deserve to have the comfort of knowing they can have a peaceful and private ceremony if they wish and provide some of their more high-profile guests a chance to relax and enjoy the day for what it’s meant to be without photographers all over the place.

The rest of your comments are also just based on an assumption on your part. It’s not as if hotel guests were told last minute they had to leave. They knew this when they made their reservations. The hotel was booked months ago. Most hotels have a check-out policy of 11 AM or noon anyway.

I wish the newlyweds a lifetime of happiness and hope their special day was as exactly what they wanted it to be.

Since a couple like this are celebs,They have to have the place and security to have anything personal and private a cost of fame.So if they can get some reimbursement for that security expense God bless them. What it really amounts to is they get a wedding they want that is cheap personally for them and still get it all.I don’t know what People is paying for the exclusive. But I’ll be glad to buy the Magazine to see the Pics and read the story when it comes out.I’m happy for Carrie and Mike and Tony and Chase eat your hearts out you missed out on the best thing you ever met.

When Tim and Faith got married, they invited people to a bbq, they had no idea there was going to be a wedding that day.

What is the big deal. It is their wedding and they can do what they want. And, if they sell the pictures boo hoo that to is their business. If you don’t like it don’t read the news about their personal life. Your can turn the page, turn the TV off, etc. I only care about the music and find it so shallow that people get emotional about other peoples lives because they are talented entertainers.

Those of us who are old enough will remember the sad day when a crazy person aiming for his 15 minutes of fame silenced John Lennon forever. The fact that people write so passionately about something that is really no one’s business but the happy couple should realize that emotions run high and all it takes to change history or take a life or ruin a wedding is one crazy in the right place at the right time. I’m glad for anyone who can cushion their life with some privacy when for some reason the people in this country feel we’re entitled to details about the private lives of celebrities. All we’re entitled to is choosing whether to buy the record or go to the hockey game. They don’t owe us a thing otherwise.

The fact of the matter is, a wedding is a private event, and somehow wedding photos were going to get out there. In a land of camera phones and pocket sized digital cameras, and with the wedding photographer more than likely wanting to show the photos in their portfolio to other potential clients, the photos needed to be released. Instead of putting them out there and letting publications fight over the photos, and then a publication she maybe doesn’t particularly like or agree with their ways (*cough* tmz, etc.) getting ahold of them first, she negotiates and releases them herself.

It isn’t tacky, it is just how things are done with celebrities. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes certainly have far more money than Carrie Underwood and they sold the first photos of baby Suri to People. It is just the fairest way to do things. If they were to release their private photos publicly and for free on a website, publications would pick them up and make top dollar off of them. Instead, one publication has the rights, and they made the money instead of nasty tabloids.

When Tim and Faith got married the internet wasn’t a big factor with putting photos and such all over the world - if they got married today I bet they would do the same as Carrie and Mike did and the security is as much for them as their high profile guests who wouldn’t want to be mobbed with photographers in their private lives - times have changed - people are meaner, hungrier and more disrespectful as some of the posts in this blog will show. As for the letter to the guests, it was just a formality, the guests already knew when they would be checking out , it was a friendly reminder not to linger on the premises after their check out time. As a customer I would see nothing wrong with that . Ugly people post ugly things, so sad for them and their sad lives obsessing over people they don’t even like

I was glad to hear the they wanted a spirtual wedding with the reading of their favorite Bible Verses. Mike seems to be the stronger of the two in spiritual things, I read this from a Carrie interview. To make long lifetime marriages work, Christ is the answer, trust me I have been married 37 years. So encouraged to see that a couple who has lots of money and fame has Chosen to start their marriage right. And as long as they stay just as committed to each other as they are now for a life time, through good and hard times, they will end up still married and happy. I pray that Carrie and Mike will be great role models for the youth throughout their marriage. God bless them and God bless our young married couple everywhere.
