Chuck Wicks: Where to Start?!
When multiple cool things happen within a couple of days it's hard to find a place to start so I'll just start at the beginning!
Last week, my buddy Dave and I had a small gathering of friends at a local bar in Nashville ... or so we thought! What started as a chill dinner and a few friends quickly escalated into one of the best times I've ever had! I was honestly blown away by how packed the bar got ... so packed, we kept looking at each other -- surprised we had this many friends! Lol. What I do remember between the shots was being a greeter for a bit at the door, breaking a shot glass, and not paying the bill. ... Thank God! :) We dragged the party downtown and into the night, and I ended up with a hangover that was well worth the memories I will never forget with good friends, after 2 days of recuperating! ;)
On July 2, I had the honor of playing the riverfront stage in downtown Nashville to help celebrate the 25th anniversary of the General Jackson show boat! I love playing in Nashville and was BLOWN AWAY by the whole event! The perfect night and way to start off the weekend for the 4th! I did about an hour show that was followed by fireworks. The whole day was top notch! Hats off to Nashville!
When that show was done, we hopped on the bus at midnight for O'Fallon, Mo. What a great town with great people! I love playing smaller towns just b/c it reminds me so much of how I grew up. We hiked it back to Nash and made it back around 5am ... had time for a quick nap and headed to Camp Lejeune.
Camp Lejeune is the biggest base on the East Coast! I can't say enough great things about this place! Judging by just the pure size of this place, you really don't wanna mess with us! It's great! I've never felt more safe in my life! We played before 20k plus and it was an experience I will never forget! Everyone on the base couldn't have been nicer! Kids were running around, they had games everywhere, and most of all you could see it was a little break for them from all the stress in their lives. I was proud to be a part of it and very proud to live in this country! Happy 4th!
Before I go, I wanna thank anyone who gave me gifts for my birthday on the road! You guys are the best! And to even give Coop gifts as well ... lol. She loved them! ;)
