Dolly Parton Will Always Love Miley Cyrus
In an interview on Wednesday (June 30) with Fox News, Dolly Parton came right out and said that she hates when people criticize Miley Cyrus. Parton, who has 47 years on the teen pop singer and daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, said, "She'll land in the right place. I really know she has everything it takes. She is just trying to find her way and she will." (Billy Ray and Miley both star in Parton's Hallmark Channel special this weekend.) The criticisms, such as saying that Miley acts, dresses and dances like an artist who is very sexually mature, may feel wrong because Parton's known her since she was a baby. "She is a great singer; she has a great voice," she told Fox News. "She's a great little entertainer and she can speak to you like she is 50 years old."

Saw Dolly’s interview on TV. She does NOT look…her age!
D says:
I love Dolly and what she stands for but i CAN NOT stand Miley Cyrus and her Has been tag along dad
countryiscool says:
Love Dolly, like Miley’s “The Climb” & that’s about it.
Gina says:
Come on Dolly — you’ve got to be kidding, right? Miley has put country music down in her interviews and she even said her Daddy was glad he wasn’t involved in country music anymore. Her Daddy was a “one-hit” wonder and that’s it. Miley is very spoiled and she is NOT a good singer.
Sarah says:
Dolly is Miley’s godmother. Willing to bet if she didn’t know this chick, she’d have no opinion. Can’t wait til no-talent Miley fades.

Anyone hear them sing Jolene? I was surprised, it was actually pretty good.

Dolly was also on “Access Hollywood” last night, and of course, she had nothing but wonderful things to say about Miley. That’s fine, and I’m sure Miley loves that her godmother is supporting her! I honestly don’t like what Miley is doing in her career right now, and I don’t like how Dolly is encouraging her on, either!!!!!
Robin says:
I don’t think Dolly is “encouraging” her behavior. I think she is encouraging her as a person. Dolly believes she is a good soul that will find her way out of the Black Forest she is in. She said she’d “land on her feet” not that she’s making great choices right now. Every person needs a soft place to fall.
With that said, Miley is in a dark place and if the people around her love her, they’ll do everything they can to redirect her as soon as possible. Most 17 year olds are hard to maneuver though.

I’m kind of looking forward to that part of the special now with Miley and Dolly. It seems like she has more reverence for old school country and doesn’t have a lot of respect for the newer country. Which to my eyes, doesn’t make her a lot different from a lot bloggers. Granted she shouldn’t spout that off, but she’s 17. She’ll learn.
Robin says:
I don’t think her issue was with new or old country, but the “industry”. The industry is what brings any form of music to the masses so it is what it is. And, she was mistaken in her assumptions that the industry requires cowboy hats to be popular. Very few that are popular in the industry wear them.
bkb says:
like dolly, but she has to say good things about miley. but to be true to country music she should have spoken up about what miley said about country music, would she have let this pass if another artist had said it?
Shadow says:
Some of you people are funny. Since Dolly is more associated with the roots country music scene these days, you really think she’s upset about the truth that Miley said about the mainstream industry?
Robin says:
Dolly is mainstream. You’ll just have to live with that too.
Shadow says:
Of course Dolly is mainstream. But what’s she done lately in mainstream country music?
Shadow says:
It’s been a week and no reply. I guess Robin ran out of answers. I’ll just have to live with that, too.
