Taylor Swift Says Music Is "Number One Love"
Taylor Swift has dabbled in acting with that CSI episode and that little part in Valentine's Day, but she recently told MTV News that was it for her Hollywood alter ego. For a while, anyway. "I'm not making movies right now. I'm making music," she said. "That's always been my number-one love." She added that it was cool and really fun to do those acting projects, but she made it sound like her music videos are enough of a creative outlet for that acting bug. "I feel like I get to do these little mini-movies when I make music videos, so that kind of fulfills that little need or desire," she said. Tim McGraw and Reba McEntire have both found a way to make great music and do some quality acting, but what's right for one artist isn't always right for another. So if music is Swift's number-one love, then I'm glad she's staying true to that.

Well, since Taylor wasn’t performing and was not likely going to win an award, I doubt anyone watched the CMT awards for her.
I just say though, I would have much rather heard Taylor sing somewhat (some days are worse or better than others) out of key than that mess of hosting and skits and presenters.
Actually, people aren’t talking about Taylor anymore now than the did about Carrie last year when Taylor won. They will still talk about them both, win or loose. It has nothing to do with no on cared that Carrie won. LA Times stated that Carrie had shown Taylor who the real Queen of country is. (all that’s silliness - I’m not agreeing or disagreeing with them). I still think Reba is Queen. Carrie is a super star and Talor is trying to figure out who she is.
Anyway, I would have rather heard Taylor sing that listened to Kid Rock babble on and watched him smoking and drinking.
Kellie Pickler - stick with Taylor as a friend. Your career will be better off than with mixing with that crowd.

I don`t hate Taylor; I am just not a fan of her music. She looks cute on this picture though. I don`t think people watched CMT because of Taylor. This year`s CMT awards show was the #1 most watched show that night; it was up 20% from last year and Taylor was not performing at all. They want to watch other artists too and probably curious about Kid Rock as a host. The producers want to shake it up a bit so they hired Kid Rock of all people. I think most people were also watching because they knew Taylor was not performing and they knew it would not be a repeat of last year and the previous year. It was getting too predictable. The strategy worked and the rating went up.
Taylor`s fans are mostly pop fans and they are not interested on watching country music nor listening to country radio. They have not even bothered to vote for her. They have been busy listening to Justin Beiber, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry this time. Next CMT awards fans need to vote and vote for her inorder to win.

why dont you taylor haters just go away. as a taylor fan (at 57years old), i love her music and song writing. i think all of the current country artists are great and somehow this awards scene has turned everyone against everyone. do i like carrie,miranda,lady a, reba, etc. etc…you bet!! they are all great and are all deserveing of an award!! but somehow its(the awards scene) has turned into a ugly bash the other guy if they are not your favorite! i know she isnt the most powerful singer out there but its more than just vocals in the big picture! she is a great performer, great talent and has the personality and heart that makes a person great!!

It wasn’t the most watched show that night, it was the most watched cable show, with 3.05 million total viewers. So you think you can dance, the NHL finals and most of the ABC and CBS reruns were two to three times higher. It was 20% above last year, so that probably guarantees more of the same next year.

I think what you and many Taylor fans don’t get, is that it’s more than the fact that she has no singing talent. Carrie just sparkled at the CMA fest. She got an standing O at the Opry and CMA fest concert. She rocked the Paradise City. She owned the crowd and the stage. She had grown so much as a performer.

People should see that Fearless was released in 2008 and taylor has already gotten numerous awards that she deserved for her songs and videos in previous award shows. Taylor lost fan-based awards at the last couple of shows. In the past. Taylor’s fans overwhelmed those of the other nominees. What happened? And does it really matter?
Was it because the product was too old — like outstanding movies which are released “too early” in the voting cycle and then are bypassed for Oscar consideration in favor of more recent releases?
Is it because Swift is “starting to fade away”, as Therese proclaims? Is there a backlash for Taylor-overkill from the media? Do we really have to know what shoes she wore on her date with that Glee guy?

Have newer fans, who crossed over from Pop to Country because of Swift, decided they didn’t like the nasty comments here and crossed back to Pop again? Should Taylor do the same thing, just shake the dirt off her sundresses and go where the love is?
Is there a “Pop Music Backlash” at Taylor from fans who have had ENOUGH of this teen girly stuff, give us some REAL hardcore country? Like “Cowboy Casanova”.
Probably the answer in lies some combination of the above and other factors. In my opinion, if “You Belong With Me” was chronologically-eligible, it probably SHOULD have won Video of the Year.
It had the best story content (it actually HAD one!). The best acting (Taylor was completely believable in THREE roles). It was a drama/romance/action mini-movie, with flawless direction and editing, perfectly mirroring the ever-building crescendo and catharsis of the music. Only other video close to it, aesthetically, was “Welcome to the Future”.
But having said that, I didn’t expect her to win because YBWM IS one her MOST Pop songs, it IS really “last-LAST year’s news”, and there has been most of all there has been Taylor over-saturation.
Like they say, “What doesn’t kill ya’ …” This won’t kill her. And personally, as someone who likes Taylor as an artist AND a person, I worry about the effects of fame upon a normal down-to-earth 20-year-old girl who suddenly started winning and winning and winning EVERYTHING since she turned 17.
Former UCLA hoops coach John Wooden, who sadly passed away last month, remained a humble man, despite 10 NCAA titles that affirm his status as greatest b-ball coach ever. John recalled, after winning the first of his NCAA titles, he was walking to church the next day when a pigeon dropped a “message” squarely on his head. “It was God’s way of letting me know, ‘Don’t get too carried away now’”.

Taylor did an amazing thing for her fans by signing autographs for 13 hours; she did not perform nor win this year`s CMT. But she won and performed in the last 2 years. There is always next year and her 3rd album will be out this fall so what is to be jealous about.
Carrie is doing well this year and she worked hard for it. She rocked the CMT award performance;she shined and sparkled, pitch perfect, mermerized the crowd of 42,000 with her performance and rocked the Guns and Roses, Paradise City and received a thunderous O. She closed the show and did not finish til 12:30am.She sang at the Opry and once again got a standing O. She held a fan club party and did concert for them. She has been amazing on this CMA fest; played softball for charity.
I am a very happy Carrie fan because my fav artist has been amazing this year and just getting better and better. You should watch Paradise City , she rocked it with great vocals with Jason Aldean joining later; full of energy and she was having fun. The crowd loved it.

I don’t understand the polarization over Carrie and Taylor. They both have their place and both are sucessful recording artists and performers. (Which is why they had pained expressions on at the award show because they both know how to put on a successful show)
But, while everyone was trying to prove how they can win awards and they have a fan base too -Taylor signed autographs for 13 hours while promoting a new exciting music app MixMeN2 for Apple (I think that is correct), don’t know how much she pulled in on Sunday with that - She and her group always seem to be one step ahead of the game. All else are followers at this point. I don’t know if she will falter or they will catch up. It is going to be interesting to watch. The only review I’ve seen of Ms Underwood’s show at Rupp Arena last night (Sunday, 6/13) said it was almost 2 hours of a “full-blown rock and pop production”, which was “Country” in name only.

It is a fact that some people like Carrie and some like Taylor; same thing for the critics. Some favor Carrie and some like Taylor. I read lots of critics who prefer Carrie over Taylor and comments on their vocals.
Well, Carrie won over everybody else to headline the Stadium of Fire and that speak volume as well. So stop your jealous nonsense Lifetime. They are both talented but have different ways of entertaining. I just prefer Carrie and a very die hard fan.
