Carrie Underwood Says Her Heart Is Happy
There is a very long, very good story about Carrie Underwood in the upcoming USA Weekend. It has a happy ending, too. At the bottom of the story she sums up everything she has going on with, "Life seems really good right now. It makes my heart happy."
It's a long story, too, so it includes the litany of awards and honors she's won since she was crowned an American Idol, but also has more details about her background than I've heard before. Like that she waitressed at some place called Sam & Ella's Chicken Palace in Tahlequah, Okla. That she used to sing for tiny crowds that might not have even been paying attention. And how she got a little bit of attitude from Nashville at first.
"Nobody ever came up to me and pointed his finger and said, 'You shouldn't be here.' But it was always, 'So and so said such and such.' But can you honestly imagine me spending 20 years singing in bars trying to make it? That doesn't fit me at all. Idol was the door God opened for me, and I took my chances," she said.
She adds that friendships with other artists don't always work out, but not because of any competitive cat-fighting or animosity. "It's hard to be friends with people in the business. You're never in the same place at the same time," Underwood says. Even when it came to dating, before fiancé Mike Fisher came into the picture, she says she told guys: "This is how it's going to be. You're not going to see me much, so you're going to have to love the phone, because that's the only contact we'll be able to have." Fisher must love the phone, because that relationship obviously worked.

I love Carrie Underwood. She is a very genuine down to earth person. Miranda Lambert is right ; she is the best vocalist to come out of Nashville and people in the industry really respect her. She is the epitome of a star.
I am sure gald she auditioned for Idol and won. What an artist.
I and my son went to her concert last week and what a show. My son who is not really a fan but enjoyed some of her songs was very impressed of the show. He could not believe how clear and great her voice was and that she was able to belt out a song and still hear her voice with the band being so loud. He plans to see her again on Dec. and so am I. I thought the arena would explode with the fans cheering. It was well worth it.

Carrie is a talented, beautiful and generous person, and I think it’s so sweet that she’s so open about her love for Mike. Being that she’s been so guarded in the past, I think it says a lot that she has chosen to open up about her happiness and share it with the world.
She has grown tremendously as an artist over the past five years, and I think her relationship has contributed to that. The article is insightful and well-written, and Carrie just glows throughout the whole interview.
