Zac Brown Band Serenade Smiling Troops for "Free"
The Zac Brown Band have always done whatever they can to support our troops -- like their Letters for Lyrics program which gives you a free copy of Breaking Southern Ground for writing a letter to a soldier -- and recently they finished up a USO tour of the Persian Gulf. In honor of Memorial Day and our men and women in uniform, CMT.com debuted this uplifting video shot during the tour. We get to see the band performing on dusty stages, meeting with hundreds of soldiers and visiting a hospital. There's also some interesting, and almost unnerving, footage of the guys being airlifted between bases. The fact that they have to wear body armor at all times shows how real the danger is. But this tour was for the troops and the most heart-warming part has got to be seeing their smiling faces during the concerts. And as if that doesn't sound stirring enough, how could a song be more poignant around Memorial Day than "Free"?
