Sex and the City 2 Could've Used Martina McBride

Helen Reddy? Seriously? That's what I thought when I saw Sex and the City 2 this weekend. There's a big splashy karaoke number in a nightclub scene in Abu Dhabi, where Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte have gone for a lavish girls-week-out, and they all take the stage and sing "I Am Woman," Reddy's 1972 empowering feminist anthem. But I can think of a few country songs that would've made just as much of a statement. Like Martina McBride's "This One's for the Girls." It may not be a legendary tune but it's definitely way more current and way more fitting for these girlfriends who have grown up together from living in little apartments just trying to get by, up through tossing pennies into the Fountain of Youth.

Goodness, don’t wish that on Martina. She doesn’t need to be tied to that piece of crap.

Wait for the DVD…to go on sale! It was nauseating to watch this movie. Really disappointed in the lack of substance or a plot. Everything was thrown in for what reason? Carrie’s trademark scream, references to surrogate mothers, etc. SATC was never was based in reality, but this one was so superficial. I kept asking: why the gay wedding? why Miley Cyrus? Why Liza? Why Penelope Cruz? Why Heidi Klum? Why am I sitting here? None of the male characters had developed storylines in this movie. They just showed up to be worn as arm candy for the girls. Waste of their talent. Carrie’s make-up made her nose look like the male character from the old television series, Beauty and the Beast. Samantha’s sexual comments, behavior, etc. got old (along with her) very quick. Kim Cantrell was so pathetic in this movie. I hope they paid her enough. The trip in the desert was so boring…is it exciting to see sand dunes on the back of camel in 135 degrees? I think not. If this is what rich people, do, I am glad to be poor.

My goodness Alison, “Sex and The CITY” would never do country music. Thank the good LORD!

marvis your name and critique of this movie tells your age. I’d say at least 60 yrs old. Alison B. these women don’t listen to Country music. That’s why that do not play the crap in SEX AND THE CITY!

That “crap” received a gold record, and a Grammy award, also your children or grandchildren will be learning about that song seeing as how it is in the American modern history books. Pretty good stuff for “crap.”
