Jewel Is "Satisfied" With the Simple Stuff in Life
My mother has always told me, "Whitney, you're about as happy as you make up your mind to be." Through the years, I have really come to understand the meaning behind her words. Sometimes being happy takes a conscious effort. Recently when I had the wonderful fortune of speaking with singer-songwriter, Jewel, I was reminded of my mother's infinite wisdom. Jewel told me that being happy sometimes has to be learned and even takes work and practice. Weeding out the elements that make a person unhappy can be a difficult process. In fact, what you think may make you happy, in reality, may make you miserable. "For me, really simple stuff makes me happy," Jewel said. "A lot of it's just having the people you love around you and sometimes it just takes realizing what actually makes me happy." Isn't that so true? Like she sings in her new beautiful single, we're all here for love and to love another. "I don't know if there's reincarnation," she told me, "but I'm going to make sure this is the best one I can get." So, just close your eyes and open your heart and do what comes naturally.

Jewel should nominated for Female vocalist of the Year AND Songwriter of the Year — EVERY year! Amazing artist, amazing person. A self-made artist who has remained a humble, down-to-earth, and genuine. Boy! Can she sing!
