Country Stars From the '90s Come Back for More

Jo Dee MessinaIf you compared the country charts in the mid-to late 1990s to the list of new releases in early 2010, you'd find quite a few common names. For example, Jo Dee Messina has finally issued a new collection, Unmistakable: Love. Hopefully she can get "Unmistakable" out there as a single because this romantic song has a really nice melody. In addition, Mary Chapin Carpenter's The Age of Miracles possesses several peppy yet thought-provoking tunes, such as "I Put My Ring Back On." When Vince Gill comes in on harmony, I feel like I'm a teenager again. David Ball still sounds like a Texas honky-tonker on "Smiling in the Morning," and while Lonestar may have a new lead singer, "Goodbye Is Goodbye" should satisfy longtime fans. Finally, Chely Wright came out ... with a new album, so if you're curious about it, I'd start with "Broken."

Along with those selections, here are several other new indie tracks you might like.

"Unmistakable," Jo Dee Messina
"I Put My Ring Back On," Mary Chapin Carpenter
"Smiling in the Morning," David Ball
"Goodbye Is Goodbye," Lonestar
"Broken," Chely Wright
"Can't Let Go of Her Now," Justin Currie
"Alibi," Shelby Lynne
"Misery Tavern," the Jayhawks
"El Camino," Elizabeth Cook
"Goodbye Rock ‘n' Roll," Derek Hoke
"Window," Richard Julian
"Want for Nothing," Jennifer Knapp
"Now That You're Gone," Indigenous
"Songbird," K.C. Clifford
"Under Western Skies," Gabe Hizer
"Another Day Borrowed," Mary Gauthier
"The Nine Year Waltz," Peter Ostroushko
