Dierks Bentley Picks His Own Kind of Bluegrass
Dierks Bentley's latest video finds him leading an acoustic jam session from -- appropriately -- the top of a wind-blown ridge. The song, "Up on the Ridge," comes from an upcoming bluegrass-inspired album of the same name, due June 8. Yet the singer-songwriter says he wasn't going for a traditional take on the style. "It's my version of bluegrass music," Bentley says on his website. "It's not just banjos cranked up to eleven. It throws out a big net." In fact, that net caught the interest of some of Nashville's finest musicians. Sam Bush plays a resophonic mandolin with a slide for the track's twangy hook, while Alison Krauss provides a backing vocal steeped in syrupy, come-hither effects -- all produced by Jon Randall Stewart. See what you think of Bentley's version of bluegrass.

David B Mattingly says:
I think his “version” of bluegrass will change the way country music is heard. Great song with a super video to back it up!!

I love dierks bentley’s new song called up on the ridge I even love all dierks bentley’s other songs off all his other albums. I do not only think that dierks bentley is cute but I also think that dierks bentley is a great country singer and hot. The one reason why I love the new song called up on the ridge by country singer dierks bentley is because the song called up on the ridge makes me feel happy when I start to feel sad. I also love country singer dierks bentley because every song that he has made from his 2001 album all the way to his other top albums keeps me believing that my life will always be filled with happiness everytime I hear dierks bentley’s songs playing on the radio.

Even the great Sam Bush can’t save this “Bluegrass” mess.
timcun says:
I wasn’t crazy about the song the first time I heard it but the more I hear it the more I’m loving it.
D Trotter says:
A little spooky, eh? But I like bluegrass and I like Dierks, so good stuff. Alison could have been used to better effect though.
Snookie Lanson says:
Now I’m beginning to understand why Alison Krauss is having so much trouble getting her own album put together. If this is what she thinks is good music these days, her band mates must be shooting down all her latest ideas.
Miranda says:

I was lucky enough to have a meet and greet with Dierks in philly on 5/12. I gave him a gift, he signed one of my cd covers of his. On the way out he signed my shirt, too that had been handmade by my son that afternoon. It had a blown up pic of him on the front. The back said Ticket:$40.00 Haircut:$32.00 Meet and Greet with Dierks: PRICELESS. He is a great guy, just as sweet and down to earth as you could be. The concert was INCREDIBLE. I love bluegrass music. I dare anyone in the room to say their souls were not moved by Dierks voice, the fiddler and the banjo player…if I am leaving anyone out I am sorry. This concert moved me so much. I think I will remain high from hearing that music at least until I receive the CD so I can hear it again.
Becky Wierzbicki says:
I personally think Country Music in general does give Dierks enough credit for how talented he is. His songs and videos should be nominated every year for awards.I am not trying to put down other country stars because I love country music. It just seems the flasher singers get nominated. Dierks if I could I would give you Video of the Year, Best Song of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year and any other award you may qualify for…you truly are very talented and I for one am thankful for your presence in the country music industry.
