Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton Now Engaged

Posted: May 11th, 2010 at 1:12 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Miranda Lambert and Blake SheltonMiranda Lambert and Blake Shelton, two much-loved country singer-songwriters, will join together in holy matrimony after a very long courtship. It's just like in 1996, when Tim McGraw and Faith Hill became the new George and Tammy. Just like in 1969, when George and Tammy had become the new Johnny and June, who'd married in 1968. Shelton proposed on Mother's Day in the woods near Tishimingo, Okla., after asking Lambert's dad, Rick, for his blessing. After she said yes to the proposal and the diamond-and-platinum ring, they celebrated with rum and Diet Sprite. This will be Lambert's first marriage and Shelton's second. Lambert told People.com that she "can love him the rest of my life and be happy and make him happy." Sounds like a country song.

Please try not to compare couples. Tim and Faith do know what real love is,after all they are still together, are they not. but ,congrats to Miranda and Blake. hope they will be very happy. the McGraws sure are,14 years and counting.and so are Clint and Lisa. and many more musical couples.

Miranda says they have been together for 5 years. He did not get a divorce from his first wife till 2006. Once a cheater always a cheater. Good luck

Since Faith Hill was mentioned in this article, don’t forget about her divorce, engagement, unengagement, cheating with Alan Jackson and now married to Tim McGraw. She’s no SAINT.

Marie - what the heck are you talking about? Please try to make sense this time.

Miranda has 42 songs and only 2 of those are about killing a CHEATING boyfriend/husband (“Kerosene” and “Sin for a Sin”). And, only one of those songs was a single (“Kerosene”). “Gunpowder & Lead” was about killing an ABUSIVE boyfriend/husband and “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” wasn’t about killing anyone.

    Kerosene

    1. “Kerosene” Steve Earle, Miranda Lambert (single) – short synopsis – Burn’ n the one that cheated on her.
    2. “What About Georgia” M. Lambert – short synopsis – Talkn’ to a friend about remembering where he came from and his life being out of control.
    3. “Greyhound Bound for Nowhere” M. Lambert, Rick Lambert – short synopsis - cheatn’ with someone else
    4. “New Strings” M. Lambert (single) – short synopsis – being with someone who wants “more” and wanting “more” yourself. That person trying to hold you back from getting away by saying “you can’t do it”.
    5. “I Can’t Be Bothered” Travis Howard – short synopsis – Getting over missing someone that there was a long relationship with (moving on - not killing anyone)
    6. “Bring Me Down” M. Lambert, Howard (single) – short synopsis – Not being able to move on from someone that’s bad for you.
    7. “Me and Charlie Talking” M. Lambert, R. Lambert, Heather Little (single) – short synopsis – remembering a childhood love/friendship and life moving on into adulthood and the road leading down a different path than you thought it would with that person
    8. “I Wanna Die” M. Lambert, Scotty Wray – short synopsis – Continuing to go back to someone who’s bad for you
    9. “Love Is Looking for You” M. Lambert – short synopsis – talking to someone who’s been hurt and is a bit jaded about love and encouraging them to turn and look right by them because love is right there for them to have.
    10. “Mama, I’m Alright” M. Lambert, Howard – short synopsis – being a rambler and a risk taker and reaching back to family to remember those ties that are still important for a rambler.
    11. “There’s a Wall” M. Lambert – short synopsis – Talking about loving someone that’s hard to love because they put walls up and call it someone else’s fault.
    12. “Love Your Memory” M. Lambert – short synopsis – preferring someone’s memory to their actual presence.

    Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

    1. “Gunpowder & Lead” Heather Little, Miranda Lambert (single) – short synopsis – shooting an ABUSIVE (not cheating) boyfriend or husband
    2. “Dry Town” David Rawlings, Gillian Welch – short synopsis – trying to get a drink in a dry town and the epic adventure of trying to get that drink
    3. “Famous in a Small Town” Lambert, Travis Howard (single) – short synopsis – everyone knowing each other in a small town and how that’s better than being famous in the big world sometimes
    4. “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” Lambert, Howard (single) – short synopsis – getting jealous of your ex’s new girlfriend. (no one got killed or even shot at)
    5. “Love Letters” Lambert – short synopsis – choosing the hurt of leaving over the bigger hurt of staying
    6. “Desperation” Lambert – short synopsis – being desperate in love to no avail
    7. “More Like Her” Lambert (single) – short synopsis – wondering if being less independent and more needy “for someone” wouldn’t be better
    8. “Down” Lambert, Howard – short synopsis – being hurt by someone and running wild and hurting other men in an out of control “downward” spiral.
    9. “Guilty in Here” Lambert, Howard – short synopsis – being like a guy and running from guy to guy with no commitment in mind and wondering if she should be feeling guilty.
    10. “Getting Ready” Patty Griffin – short synopsis – letting someone go after realizing the relationship is going nowhere
    11. “Easy from Now On” Carlene Carter, Susanna Clark – short synopsis – walking away from a one sided relationship

    Best Buy Bonus Track
    1. “Nobody’s Used to Be” M. Lambert, Rick Lambert – short synopsis – Not being someone’s “used to be” when they want you back yet they still have someone “new” at home.

    iTunes Bonus Track
    1. “Girl Like Me” – short synopsis – warning someone that she’s not the kind of girl that he needs because she carries so much emotional baggage and won’t stay around.

    Target Bonus Tracks
    1. “Take It Out on Me” Miranda Lambert, Travis Howard, Dennis Matkasy – short synopsis – leaving an abusive relationship
    2. “I Just Really Miss You” Lambert, Keith Gattis, Howard – short synopsis – missing someone who’s left and moved on to a new life.

    Revolution

    1. “White Liar” (Miranda Lambert, Natalie Hemby) (single) – short synopsis – turning the tables on a cheater and letting him know that he’s not the only one who can play that game.
    2. “Only Prettier” (Lambert, Hemby) – short synopsis – tit for tat southern girly argument from a less elegant girl to the “nice” girl.
    3. “Dead Flowers” (Lambert) (single) – short synopsis – realizing your in a dead relationship
    4. “Me and Your Cigarettes” (Lambert, Ashley Monroe, Blake Shelton) – short synopsis – realizing your just a bad habit of someone’s and will never be more than that.
    5. “Maintain the Pain” (Lambert) – short synopsis – staying with someone you don’t like and living in misery.
    6. “Airstream Song” (Lambert, Hemby) – short synopsis – wish’n for a free and easy life with no responsibilities.
    7. “Makin’ Plans” (Lambert) – short synopsis – Not imagining your life with anyone else or being anywhere else than with them.
    8. “Time to Get a Gun” (Fred Eaglesmith) – short synopsis – About protecting your way of life and it being time to stop talking with the one’s trying to take it away and protecting it.
    9. “Somewhere Trouble Don’t Go” (Julie Miller) – short synopsis – trying to stay away from the bad choices that get you in trouble and still managing to get in trouble.
    10. “The House That Built Me” (Tom Douglas, Allen Shamblin) (single) – short synopsis – remembering who you are and where you came from to remember where you are going in life.
    11. “Love Song” (Lambert, Shelton, Charles Kelley, Dave Haywood)
featuring Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood of Lady Antebellum – short synopsis - love being about just “knowing each other” and giving each other the little things in life that you need vs. some big hoopla.
    12. “Heart Like Mine” (Lambert, Monroe, Travis Howard) – short synopsis – being a good girl with a crusty edge that people like to judge

jeff24 - If Alan’s wife can get over it, why can’t you? What’s done is done and life moves on. No one is the same person they were 5, 10, 15 or 20 years ago.

I’m pretty sure there are very few “saints” in the world. If there were more and someone mentioned their name, then someone else would surely come along and tell us all the bad things they ever did in life.

    Remember John 8:7?
