"Carrie Underwater" Calls Into Big D & Bubba
It only takes about three seconds for this phone call to go from bad to worse. When Carrie Underwood calls into the Big D & Bubba syndicated radio show, they call her "Carrie Underwater" then they start making fun of the property she owns that had some water damage in the recent flood. So they kind of start over, talk about the flood, about the pet names she and fiancé Mike Fisher have for each other (princess and cowboy), then they talk about how much they love her new tune, "Undo It." Especially the intro, which they say only Underwood could pull off because she has a hipness to her that other country artists do not. By the time the six minutes or so are up, it's a pretty good interview. But still, once she's off the phone, one of the DJs says, "She hates us."

Redmaz says:
Let me guess…Big D & Bubba are a couple of Mainstreamers?
mae says:
If they are making fun of tragic event than I would hate them to, but Carrie Underwood is not that type so why wood these radio show treat hwer like crap
OldGoat34 says:
I think they ought to be more careful in not offending people especially the Stars and not someone as sensitive as Carrie is, who wears her heart on her sleeve. Its different when she ’s onstage and morph’s into the performing Carrie or into the public Carrie. But she was obviously Sad and Heartbroken over the disaster in Nashville.
Jim says:
These guys are getting a lot of grief and being flooded with angry e-mails supposedly over the interview with Carrie Underwood this morning. Both guys are from Nashville which makes the Carrie Underwater comment particularly tasteless.
It seems they are putting out word that they used a bad choice of language due to being tired from helping victims of the flooding.
Guys, people are still digging out their basements so it isn’t the right time to make it into a chucklefest. Have some sensitivity to people that are really hurting!
I’ll give major praise to Carrie for enduring the entire interview and putting up with these stooges!
Shayna says:
This was one of the most rude, and disrespcetful…not to mention unprofessional interviews I have ever heard in my life.
Starting off by talking about flood..making light of a situation that you shouldn’t. Then making fun of her the whole entire interview. Then laughing at her when she hangs up. Seriously, if it had been me, I would have hung up on them at the beginning.
Shame on them. All of Carrie’s other interviews went well this morning.
Tiffany says:
Carrie did exactly what I would have done…she got quiet. How do you respond to being called Carrie Underwater when I am sure she is devasted by what has happened to Nashville?? I’m not sure what was up with these guys but they were so unprofessional and they were not funny at all. I did listen to another interview on another station and it was great! Carrie was just great.
musictomyears says:
My guess is that these guys have received plenty of comments calling them on the carpet. The interview has been taken down from the radio stations website.
Very poor judgement on their part….wonder if they are still laughing?
mia says:
I can’t blame Carrie one bit for her response and I am appalled that these two dj’s, who in my mind are now viewed as ignorant, rude, and tasteless, take no part for “the weird mood that she was in.” It was very, very clear to me that from the very first comment made towards Carrie that they had upset her. This interview was very painful, awkward, and difficult to listen to, especially after reading and hearing about just a fraction of the devastation that is happening as a result of the flooding in Nashville, Tennessee, Kentucky, and across the U.S. South. I realize that these dj’s have been dedicated to volunteering and had their own homes flooded, but then where is the understanding towards someone, in this case Carrie Underwood?

Julie4726 says:
I’m wondering why she would do an interview with them in the 1st place.
Lindsey says:
Shayna…what were the other interviews Carrie did this morning? I would love to hear them if you or anyone knows what other stations she talked to?
J.J. says:
I don’t think I’d have gotten quiet. I’d have gotten gone! She should have ended the interview immediately and no one would have blamed her. No one should have to put up with disrespect.
Gretchen says:
So unprofessional and rude by the DJs… the underwater comment, the jokes about her properties, and then the end where they talk about how she was in a “weird little mood”??? As Shayna mentioned, there are more interviews from this morning I listened to and Carrie was nothing but chatty, polite, and funny in all of those.
Luke’s Girl says:
If that made her mad, she takes herself too seriously. What am I talking about, I knew that already…
anna says:
Carrie jokes around all the time in interviews, but you need to look up inappropriate in the dictionary.
Don says:
interesting editing of the comments on this blog
The DJs were rude, even their station knows this as can be seen by them pulling the interview.
Tenn says:
Th DJ’s made a statement saying it was inappropriate what they said in the interview with Carrie and said they sent Carrie flowers . They are Nashville DJ’s and are helping in the flooding sitch - DJ’s use humor and most of the time they are a riot but their job is being a radio personality, live on the air , saying whatever comes to them - this time they went too far without thinking and got flack - they are Big Carrie fans and certainly didn’t want to hurt Carrie I bet. It’s just trying times for those in Nashville and the area - the comments were out of place but things will be set right again in music city.
bkb says:
it is not always going to be a perfect and controlled interview, grow up and get on with with ever she thinks is so important to her.
rosyz says:
Controlled or not; they have at least to show some respect and decency no matter who the person is. The behavior was not acceptable. But they realized their mistakes and apologized so now we all move on with our lives including you bkb. I`m sure Carrie forgave them and accepted their apologies. Play On BKB.
Erick says:
wat i find stupid is that cirhstina whos way past her prime chose to do a fajillion vocal runs and melismas and alter the melody of the song to sing it her way to show off when she clearly can’t even handle the high notes or her self induced runs. and to top it off she messed up the lyrics too. Carrie stuck to the original melody of the song and didnt add a thousand runs causing her to forget the lyrics and go off key every 10 seconds like cirhstina.
