Taylor Swift's Excellent Adventures
What's Taylor Swift been up to lately? I think the better question is, what hasn't she been up to? In a recent five-minute video blog (A TaylorTV Exclusive, she calls it) on her MySpace page, you can see her playing basketball in a school gym, making birthday cake for her brother Austin's 18th, having an Easter egg hunt, filming her background singer Liz Huett while she is sleeping, boating, bowling with Selena Gomez, bringing Katy Perry out to sing with her at a Los Angeles show and then going to Liz Rose's wedding at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas right after the Academy of Country Music Awards. Rose co-wrote "Tim McGraw," "Teardrops on My Guitar," "White Horse" and "You Belong with Me" with Swift. The song that's playing throughout the video, if you're wondering, is "She (for Liz)" by a pop rock boy band Parachute.

Roxanne says:
I guess she didn’t win any awards they have to keep her in the news somehow.
Olive says:
If you don’t care, why are you here? Use your brains people…
bella says:
hmmm….miranda won her first time ever “female vocalist of the year”…”album of the year” and “video of the year”…..she is more worthy and talented then taylor….she deserves acknowledgment.
Captain Booger says:
No way, dude!! … Yes, way! … Naw, “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure” is waaaay more cool, and they actually reek of talent, unlike this Swift chick. … Yeah, you got that right dude, and they sing waaay better than Swift … Of course they do, dude, that’s cause they DON’T sing … EXCELLENT!!!

The big question on everyone’s mind after the ACM’s was “How did Carrie Underwood win ETOY over Taylor Swift?” I saw that in all the newspapers: LA Times, NY Times, Newsday, etc. At first I was angry the ACMs snubbed her but now I realize that for a change, most people thought she deserved an award that she didn’t get! She’s probably tired of winning anyway…the fact that she is still being nominated for an album that came out in 2008 is the award in itself. And the fact that people thought Taylor deserved ETOY over Carrie (who just released an album) is more than enough. The girl’s album is still relevant 2 years later while Carrie’s album is already dropping off the charts haha..
Katie says:
Taylor has been making these types of videos, with personal footage, since the beginning. If you did ever check out her website or MySpace archives, you would find videos dating back to 2006 when she released her first album. This type of interaction with the fans is what helps makes her so successful. If you don’t like it, don’t watch, but there’s no need to be condescending to something that so clearly works for her.
Nicci says:
Why bother to read and comment on an article about Taylor if you don’t like her? At least she has a life unlike you people that sit behind a computer attacking her!
mel says:
Taylor has been doing these vlogs for years. They make fans days when they are posted. It has nothing to do with publicity just a fun insight on her life. It means a lot to fans when the artists reach out to them in anyway. Its these types of things that drew a lot of people in from the begining and made them feel special. I’m glad Tay is doing them again.

That’s easy.”Carrie Underwood won EOTY over Taylor Swift because: Carrie IS the BEST entertainer, because Carrie CAN SING, because this is a COUNTRY award, and because the INDUSTRY voted for Carrie.
Better questions are: “How Did Taylor SWift win FVOTY?” How does Taylor get a vocalist nomination? How did the artist with the most fans lose a fan voted award?Listen…Silence, silence…..it’s deafening.
O/T Want to know how TAylor manages to get big numbers for her concerts? The 9-12 kids who make up a big portion of her audience (as per concert reviews)require chaparones so it pretty well doubles (minimum)every ticket for this group..pretty good huh…(although you can’t blame Taylor for that, and i don’t, I’m just saying)
superwomenRule says:
carrie won because it was well deserved, she has an amazing vocal range and she has been selling out her concerts, and so forth… (ME)where are you getting your info…because her record sales have not been slipping i think you are just a scorned fan making up random things that come into your insane mind..i respect taylor i like her as a person i think she is very charming and sweet she isnt my favorite artist i obviously favor carrie since im more of a carrie fan however i respect taylor’s work she is amazing for her age to have such a good head on her shoulders and to know who she is, my hats come off to her, i am more proud if anything that these two ladies were acknowledged country music has sure come a long way. the fact that both ladies were up for this award is amazing they both deserve it they work hard, and im glad that there both making music, because i enjoy them both, more power to these two superwomen.
lifetime says:
Taylor did deserve it and carrie new it…but Taylor will always be thee ENTERTAINER all year long!
Joslyn says:
Carrie won because the most fans voted for her - that’s it! Fan voted awards do not mean that the person who won is the very, very best and we all know it. There was more than one artist on that nomination list that deserved to win. If the winner was based on sheer talent and what they’ve done for country music, it would be Keith Urban. He won an ACM award for what he’s done for country all around the world. The award is so important that they don’t even hand it out every year, only if there is someone that’s a standout. So all you people fighting about Taylor vs. Carrie; neither one of them holds a candle to Keith. Even Hazel Smith said she thought Keith should have won!
Even so, Carrie won fair and square so be happy for her (like Keith was) and everyone stop bashing Taylor. She’ll win more awards. Miranda was the star this year, IMO.
TG says:
Selena Gomez,Katy Perry, are just a few of her REAL country music friends!
Speaking of twitter Alison, can’t help but notice you didn’t bring up how she didn’t congratulate any ACM winners.
rosyz says:
Lifetime I know you are upset that your fav artist did not win EOTY at ACM. Then you should have voted like crazy and enlisted all your friends and families and coworkers to vote for her; you should have texted until your fingers got numb during the show then maybe your fav artist should have won the title. You should have listened to Taylor`s pleading in the video to vote for her and then you should have gotten a T-shirt for doing so if she won ; it`s partly fan voted award . But then you and all her tweens and teen fans did not so stop whining and playing sweet lemon. it is too late now. just accept it that this year it`s not her turn to do it; there is always next year. She won anyway last CMA so just be happy because right now I am really enjoying Carrie`s success. Let`s Play On!
Joslyn I agree that Keith is good but then his fans did not work so hard to vote for him because this is partly fan voted. Carrie is the best entertainer for us Carrie fans. So she is the best in our eyes. i guess the industry agreed also because this also industry voted title. Whatever Carrie won and we are happy. I would have been happy too if Keith won because I like him too.

cheatercheater says:
Do you people realize it was not just fan voted. It was an undisclosed mix of fan and industry votes. You don’t even know for sure if fan votes counted at all.
ALJID says:
Play On dropping off the charts? When last I looked, Swift’s single “Fearless” barely made it into the top 5 along with “Fifteen” on the Billboard Country Charts. While Carrie’s second single “Temporary Home” off her third album Play On recently went to number one. And “Undo It” is having a hot start at the radio weeks before it will be officially released. So who has been dropping off the charts lately??
lifetime says:
oh and I was very happy for Miranda she deserved it!
julianna says:
im happy for miranda and i love the commodary between her and carrie, im happy for all the winners…and im extremely happy that taylor didnt win a thing “shut out”…the academy knows taylor cant hold a note to save her life and whats even sweeter is hearing the immaturity and crying and whining from her fans….tissue annyone??? LOL
bkb says:
happy for miranda, could care less about carrie and thrilled that swift did not take away awards from people that deserved them.
Wanda says:
First off ts rereleased her album in oct 2009 just before carries came out in nov 2009 and carrie told miranda it was her time her cd has hit 2000000 so why not cu for etoy
trink says:
Taylors new album out the end of summer early fall. We will see how many she sells this time. Oh and she said it is better than Fearless. If that is even possible.Lets see how many awards she will win.
Lolly says:
I think what some Taylor fans don’t realize is that her relatively quick rise to fame (and quick is a relative term) has really put her behind the eight ball. “Fearless” did so unbelievably well that it’s going to be used as a yardstick for years to come. Taylor’s under a great deal of pressure to keep up this level of popularity. When an artist gradually rises in popularlity over a period of years; when they finally get to that pinacle, it’s not a shock when they inevitably level off and make way for the “next big thing”. An artist like Keith Urban hit his stride when he was well into his 30’s. Now that his popoularity has leveled off some, he’s old enough to have other things in his life that are important. Taylor is so young to find this amount of stardom. I hope she’s able to stay grounded when the “inevitable” happens.
I’m looking forward to hearing her new CD and praying that as she matures, it will translate into her music.
caeliana says:
i think swift is a lovely and sweet, charming, young lady and she seems like a funny girl, the kind of girl who you can be friends with she seems so down to earth and grounded and because of that, her personality is the selling point not her voice. i think she is a talented songwriter, and entertainer, as far as her vocals, she is a studio singer not a live singer, she is offkey half the time and her voice is strained. she sounds good when she sings soft but then somewhere during the song she gets lost and goes offkey, perhaps with a bit more training on her vocals she would sound better. taylor is a beautifull girl and now a days thats all you need a pretty face and a guitar, thats what her team of marketers sell the face, the personality, because she has the likeability factor and thats why taylor is where shes at today, because they know how to sell taylor swift “the person” and its not based on her vocals. whatever your opinion is on taylor swift, whether your a fan or not or whether you think she can sing or not bottomline is that taylor swift will be around for a long time shes huge and i see her fans growing along with her, and thats all that matters i guess pleasing her fans…shes young she writes about fairytales and boys and castles and young people can relate to her, she is an entertainer, a hard worker and i give her some credit because she does deserve credit even though she isnt my cup of tea. i also commend her for not lypsynching like her fellow pop stars britney spears but then again britney was a dancer and performer not a singer, and she herself would say that. if theres going to be a role model for young people then why not taylor swift shes a good girl with a good head on her shoulders thats something you dont see these days anymore, good for her…
i think if you are a fan of someone with an amazing vocal range someone who writes about real life situations and issues then taylor swift isnt for you, and although taylor isnt for me i respect her because she is a hardworking entertainer night after night doing her thang engaging with her fans, she is a star in her own right.
caeliana says:
i like taylor swift the person too, its what im trying to say even though she doesn’t “wow” me vocally i like her demeanor….shes someone i hope doesnt change and stays who she is…i wish her well after all thats what country girls do…carrie and miranda are my heroes :)
daisy says:
i love taylor swift she is the best singer
paris says:
nice vlog, i like that she lets fans enter her world…its kind of like we get to see how taylor really is away from all the glitz and glamour at the red carpets. i like her voice (”oh no here come the haters to correct me”).. anyway like i was saying i like her voice, she has a soft pleasant mellowy sound to her tone it’s soft and thats what i like. shes a great songwriter and she controls the stage and audience, shes a star like it or not taylor is a star. she may not be considered the best singer by a lot of people who are looking for those kind of singers who can hit every high note,…and if a singer cant hit high notes then thay are labeled “mediocre” or they “cant sing” type singers..and i disagree with that because for instance take jessica simpson, she hits high notes and would be considered a powerhouse singer, but when she sings live she sounds strained, out of tune, and screachy, now im not trying to offend anyone by that statement, my only point is that just because a singer can hit some high notes doesnt make them great singers and thats where i was going with my statement on jessica simpson, no offense to anyone, im just trying to make a point. in my opinion although taylor isnt a powerhouse singer she sings better then some powerhouses out there. i wish people would leave her alone if you dont like her for your own reasons i can respect that but why not just leave it at that why insult her and start online wars..thats immature to offend people’s idols because every artist plays a role they bless their fans in different ways and to that certain fan they are the best singers/artist/performers/entertainers EVER TO THEM because they found a connection to that one artist… were all different and i think thats what artistry is about reaching out to people and blessing their life in some shape way or form….so people should respect that you’d think???? but they wont.
my favorite powerhouse singer is carrie underwood she is the best since martina mcbride she sings so beautifull and inspires me, thru her lyrics she is such a deserving artist and im so proud of all her accomplishments because just like taylor i think these two rule the charts and its so great to see two inspiring good hearted women take control of their careers they are my “superwomen”… and taylor is also my favorite for her soft pleasant and cute songs and i lov her i cant wait for third album and hear her new material as carrie would say taylor is back to “play on”….i know right are you guys trippin’ a HUGE CRAZY CARRIE FAN who loves taylor am i wierd or what :)
play on ladies…play on

Question:
Why do Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift have to be in competition with each other? You guys don’t see THEM fighting about who is best, so why do you have to? I’m a fan of BOTH singers, both have their unique talents, slightly different fan bases, and their own appeal. Some people are so jealous when their top favorite artist doesn’t win an award (for the record, I think Taylor deserved the ETOY).
Maybe Taylor doesn’t have the best voice in country/pop, but that should make us HAPPY, because it proves that hard work and being a genuine role model still makes people into stars. Maybe Underwood doesn’t have the most fans, but that should make us HAPPY, because it proves that you don’t have to have the most fans to win ETOY. They’re both great artists and there’s no reason we have to bash one if we like the other. :)
