Taylor Swift's Latest Kind of "Fame"

Posted: April 22nd, 2010 at 3:30 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Taylor SwiftLet the word balloons begin. Because Taylor Swift will soon be speaking in them when Fame: Taylor Swift, a comic book all about her life, is released this summer. The comic book company's website says she will be immortalized in sequential form and that the book will "trace Swift's rise from young singer-songwriter to mega-selling recording artist. It also chronicles her unwavering commitment to pushing herself." So if you want a lighthearted way to get to know Swift's life story, this 32-page comic is perfect. And since it's only $3.99, it's a much more affordable alternative than the countless unauthorized biographies about her life. Not to mention, the cartoons of Swift, her family, her friends, her band and her label team are bound to be way more fun than just plain old photos.

This is newsworthy? With ACM awards over and everything else happening in country, you have to enlighten us with Taylor and her being a comic book character. Hope that one sings better than the original. Enough of Taylor! Bring on Miranda!

I think in our unending effort to hate on Taylor Swift we have forgoten to look at the facts. The subjects of the Fame comic book series as I understand it have nothing to do with their issue. It is like an unauthorized autobiography in comic book form. Bluewater productions has produced three series of comic book biographies: Female Force, Political Power, and Fame. Some of the earlier subjects have included Barack Obama, Michelle Obama Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Barbara Walters, Sonia Sotomayor, Princess Diana, Stephenie Meyer, Ellen DeGeneres, Sarah Palin Oprah Winfrey. Additional subjects soon to be released include Rush Limbaugh, Al Gore, Anne Rice, Al Franken, Margaret Thatcher, David Beckham, Carla Bruni, Lady Gaga, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Taylor Swift. Note that all of the subjucts are 20 year old Disney kids who need to grow up.

According to Bluewater “These are well-researched books and we try to be even handed in our approach–opinions from both sides of the aisle and acknowledging the unflattering truths when appropriate.” Maybe some of you guys can be consultants on the unflattering opinion side.

Note that autobiography in the previous message is incorrect; it should be biography.

Trace Adkins was the inspiration for a comic book, too. Like to see someone call him a Disney kid to his face.

And nscomet is right. Swift has absolutely NOTHING to do with the comic, not even as a consultant. Her “crime” is to have become very, very famous, one of a select group of pop culture icons that Bluewater targeted for their “Fame” title.

Hey, maybe if it’s successful, they could turn it into a Superhero book, and then a movie. Taylor could fly around in that ACM contraption and battle Cyberbully Witch!!

bkb, to answer your question, POTUS, 2028 at the earliest. First female. You heard it here first. Seriously.

    You moving to Canada?

And HEY! yes, it has always been a dream. Such a shame, people having dreams and achieving them. Just awful.

nscomet68 and D Trotter - I’ll have to agree with you two 100% on this topic of Taylor Swift. While I’m not a fan, this is just dumb to be complaining about.

She is famous, can’t she do anything famous people might do without being criticized.

I think I’ll leave my criticisms to the art/music so at least my rants make sense and have context. Sometimes it really does just seem like a big hate fest.

If Taylor would have won an ACM award they would have written more than one article about it. But because she left empty-handed they have to come up with any little bit of news that they can think of to keep her name in the headlines..
