Garth Brooks Is Just Like Barack Obama

President Obama and Garth BrooksThose are his words, not mine. In this interview with CBS News, Garth Brooks compares himself, in a funny self-deprecating way, to President Obama. It was at this Grammys on the Hill event in Washington, D.C., where Brooks received an award for achievement and support of musicians in the industry.

So first he jokes about hanging out with the President, adding that he is "always more than cordial." Then he says that since Obama has already won two Grammy awards (in the best spoken word category) that now they are tied. Then he rethinks that, saying, "We're the same except I don't have the (Nobel) Peace Prize."

Then Brooks goes on to talk about the state of country music today. You can tell how much he completely supports the writers of all his great country hits. "Nothing grows without a seed, and our seed is the songwriter. We've gotta protect those rights of the songwriter," he said. And as for the music that's being called country today? "I think it's exactly the same way it was 20 years ago when Garth Brooks came out. You'd have to ask Haggard that same question. And Haggard might say, 'That punk.' Country music is the news at 5 just put to music," said Brooks. "It's our way of life as a people, and as long as it keeps reflecting that, then it'll always be country music."

It's a good way to end an interview at an advocacy event aimed at informing policymakers of the role songwriters and artists play in American culture and the economy. And in an attempt to play homage to Brooks, interviewer Bob Schieffer, Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) and Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) and other politicians performed "Friends in Low Places." I give them an A for effort, but they are no Garth Brooks.

Love Garth Brooks. He is the reason I listen to country music. He’s down to earth and his voice is just the best. I’ve worn out copies of his CD’s and have had to search for them. He’s right, country music changes all the time and it is what you want it to be. I like Toby Keith and Carrie Underwood. So different and yet to me they are country music. I like artists who can carry a tune, know how to make you feel and how to make you smile.

I like Garth Brooks, but don’t care for obama. Country music is music spoken from the heart. It is the best music in the world. These artists never fail to reconize our country as the greatest and our troops serving. God Bless Country Music.

Later that evening Garth found his wallet missing. The contents of which are soon to be redistributed to some lazy bums living off government run programs.

Well I’m sure Garth speaks for the common man as he is flying in Steve Wynn’s jet. I’m sure he can reflect in his huge mansion in Owasso how the little people might not like Obama. Speaking for the little people I would say it’s important to us that a President doesn’t lie about 97% of the time. Truth told Obama is so far over his head it isn’t funny.

It seems everyone miscalculates Garth Brooks and what he truly stands for. I support him always. No election needed.

I was surprised to hear Garth say “I love the guy” referring to the current president. Really inexplicable how these entertainment elites become liberals. I was at OSU the same time as Garth, while President Reagan was making us proud to be Americans. President Obama is clearly a marxist bent on destroying the USA by collapsing the economy. Me crazy? 14 trillion in debt, the last 5 of his personal doing, and adding 6 billion a day under his tutilage to grow the welfare state with more and more entitlements. This can never be paid back regardless of tax rates, so we’re left with default, or hyperinflation as the government prints money to pay. Obama knows what he is doing, but sadly Garth is oblivious. Hope Garth trades some of his cash for gold or he’ll be back where he came from per the design of the guy he loves.

I’m a veteran of the gulf war, I joined the army and went to flight school at Ft. Rucker. I lost my flight slot -and this is from the officers in the program- because of an idiot named Ronald Reagan who cut taxes (revenue) and exploded spending.. I also voted for that idiot Reagan, You twits slamming Obama couldn’t find your backside with both hands and a flashlight> I like Garth Brooks as a person but as evidenced here, most people that like country music tend to be stupid.

What is wrong with you people? Do you like music for the sake of music or does it depend on the political views of the artist. Get a grip…
