The Catsuit Is Just the Beginning of Carrie Underwood Show

Posted: April 13th, 2010 at 12:22 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Carrie UnderwoodI have not seen Carrie Underwood on tour since last August, but it sounds like so much has changed. I'm sure the music is still polished and perfect and that her voice is still as flawless as ever. Now, though, it seems like she's done a major overhaul in the wardrobe department. Like the catsuit she opens the show with. It is the creation of costume designer Soyon An. "She starts off with a white jacket on the top, and then she takes that off to reveal the Swarovski crystal criss-cross halter," said An, who designed everything to fit Underwood's glam personality just right -- right down to more Swarovski crystals on her guitar strap. The entire show allegedly has Underwood in 14 different outfits dreamed up by An. The designer adds that Underwood told her, "You are in charge of my clothes, and I want to focus on my music." It's a good sign that Underwood is making her focus the songs and not the fashion show.

Carrie’s show is out of this world. Her outfits are beautiful, in good taste and appropriate for a performer…and what a performer she has become! She owns the stage as she ownes the songs. She mesmerizes the audience with her amazing, powerful spot on vocals. Reviewers state that she needs no elaborate stage as her biggest attraction is still her incredible voice…together with her charisma, charm and beauty….never-the-less the slick and sophisticated staging is certainly the best they have seen and adds to the overall entertainment aspect of the experience.

Alsion - you have raved about Martina’s latest tour. You NEED to go to Carrie’s latest tour. It is awesome! The staging is a spectacle all on its own and she is never out of tune! I have seen Carrie in concert before, but the improvement was unbelievable this latest time. Her “Play On” Tour is amazing. If she was in my area I would go again just to watch. And yes, Carrie is quite beautiful on this tour.

I’m going to see Carrie next week, and am expecting an excellent show. She has gotten dozens of excellent reviews for this tour- the critics are finally admiting she has talent despite the fact that she’s the former winner of a reality show.

Carrie is always gracious in thanking Idol for giving her a chance at a career, but she doesn’t need that label anymore. She has proven time and time again she can sing country, rock, pop, classics, or musical numbers and perform them just as well (if not better) than the original artists.

She has grown so much as a performer, and anyone watching her can tell she absolutely loves being onstage. She’s personable with the audience, but she still keeps the majority of the focus on the music- a little chatter, costume changes and visual surprises don’t take away from anything in the shows. She does 23 songs on this tour- this is impressive in itself, especially considering that most of her songs are vocally challenging.

This tour is different than anything we have seen from Carrie- she is still a vocal masterclass, but she gives the audience visual effects that enhance the show even furthur. It appears that Carrie always tries to push herself- never settling for the same thing. This cannot be said for the majority of artists in music today- I admire Carrie for actually keeping her shows and music interesting instead of just saying she’s going to do so.

Just saw her Saturday night, she didn’t open with or ever wear this outfit. She was PHENOMENAL though. Absolutely amazing. Anyone who has the chance to see it should definitely go!

The “Play On” tour is amazing. When I first heard about all the “bells and whistles” I was a little apprehensive about what to expect and if I would even enjoy it. But I will give kudos to the production crew, the special guests, and to Carrie. The show was absolutely amazing…there was a little bit of everything for everyone. Loved SOS, Craig Morgan was full of energy , and Carrie’s vocals rose above the backdrop production. I thought it would take away from her vocals but it only enhanced it. Definately worth going to and more!

Carries, play on tour is just amazing. I went on March 20th to the Moheghan in Ct. with 6 other people and we were just in awe of the whole concert. Her voice was just awesome and her costumes were fantastic. I could have listened to her all night. SHe is a great entertainer and she kept us wanting more. The show is a must for everyone to see.

Carrie’s “Play On” Tour is amazing. I cannot wait to see her again in October. Her costumes were creative, her voice was amazing and of course she stayed on key the whole time. I didn’t want the show to end lol.

gimme me a break, if this was all about the music, carrie in the first place would not have made this move to hire a designer to do her costumes. martina does have a fantastic tour and there is room for both artists to have a fab tour. it is just not about one artist.

Carrie is the greatest live vocalist out there right now. Her tour is amazing. It`s one of a kind. She is setting the tour standard for all artists. Way to go Carrie.

NO-one said it was all about one artist.Carrie is doing her 2nd headlining tour and of course it is very different than her 1st.Afterall Carrie has had time to observe other artist and to see first hand how tours are done with class. So Carrie wanted to improve her tour and from what I am reading she has done just that.Carrie is learning from some of the greatest touring artist out there and as Carrie does tours in the future she will learn how to improve on each and everyone of them.I am glad to read about how Carrie is taking an interest in the entire tour. Her hiring a person to be in control of the costume changes seems the right move to me,afterall Carrie wants the costume changes to go smoothly and the overall performance to be great for the fans, afterall it is all about making the fans happy and wanting more.
