Carrie Underwood Will Not Cut the Cake

Posted: April 9th, 2010 at 9:43 am  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Carrie UnderwoodI'm sure the cupcakes that Carrie Underwood is planning to serve at her upcoming wedding will be, as she says, "the most amazing cupcakes in the universe." But come on. No wedding cake? Isn't that breaking some kind of nuptial law or something? Underwood told CMT Radio Live's Cody Alan, "I consider myself a very traditional person. More than anything, we're going to get married, that's the important part. And we want everyone to have a good time, so we're doing some things like that, that are a little bit different." The cupcakes are from a bakery in Nashville called IveyCake, who claim on their Web site that you've never tasted a cupcake until you've tried an IveyCake. But without a traditional wedding cake and cake-cutting ceremony where Underwood and Mike Fisher would perform their first task jointly as husband and wife, it might feel like something is missing. Maybe they'll do a cake for the tradition of it, then bring out the cupcakes for the fun of it. No word on what she has planned for the garter-belt, bouquet-toss and first-dance traditions.

Actually the cupcake theme for weddings is very popular. The cupcakes are put on teirs to form a very traditional and impressive looking cake. The last 3 out of 4 weddings I have attended had cupcakes. My nephew and is bride actually used the car from the game of LIFE with a blue and pink peg as the bride and groom as their topper! It was really very cute!

Cupcakes are very popular- My cousin got married last year and they had cupcakes that was every flavor in the rainbow. Hers was on teirs as well. They had a larger one to cut and then they fed each other for pictures. I think it is a great idea. The guests loved them. It is Carrie and Mike’s big day and they should do whatever makes them HAPPY! I wish them all the Happiness In The World. May God Bless Them Always!!

why is it a BIG deal that carrie doesnt have a wedding cake? because those are the wedding rules? because its expected and everyone does it??…carrie is her own person and if she wants something different then thats her choice and her right…if she wants to serve pies or cookies for her wedding and if thats what makes her and mike happy then shes entitled!…
“THERE ARE NO RULES!”…ITS HER WEDDING DAY and she and Mike can do what makes them HAPPY…like she said the most important thing is that they are getting married..and taking an oath to God and each other, that should be the focus not the cake or cupcakes at their wedding…this story is petty and silly!…

cupcakes at weddings have been en vouge for at least 5 years. I was married in 2005 and found the wedding idea books to be FILLED with cupcake ideas. I had mine on a 4 tiered cake thingy, gourmet cupcakes with a decorative seas shell on each one (we were married at the beach). My main choice for doing it was b/c a friend was catering my wedding and I wanted to spare her the headache of cutting the cake. Everyone loved the idea and thought they looked fabulous. The very top tier WAS in fact a small cake (about 5 inches in diameter) and we had a large shell as a cake topper and that’s what we cut for the “traditional” cake cutting. But really, you can do what ever you want. YOu’re paying for the overpriced affair!!! lol

Carrie had first mentioned Ivey Cakes last year at her Fan Club Party. She snagged cup cakes for her mother’s 60th birthday party. Definitely plan to hit this place up when we make our trip to Nashvegas for the CMAfest. Those cupcakes look so so yummy. I give Carrie an A+ for originality.

My daughter got married in 1999. We served hummingbird cake cupcakes, made by her grandmother. However, we did have a small, maybe 7″ round, cake topper for the cutting. Really special, I thought.

You know that cupcake wedding cakes are very hot these days. Now you need some decorating ideas, inspiring funny or elegant tower or tree designs and pictures. Right?

Cup cake wedding cakes can look stunning but they have been a hot trend for a number of years, so as with most things to do with weddings they are not cheap. Well, they are not cheap if you pay a cake maker to make them, if you make them yourself you can save a fortune and have a great looking cheap wedding cake. For a more sophisticated look to your cup cakes you could have your monogram cut from fondant icing, you wouldn’t have to decorate every cake that way, maybe just a few on each layer. Or sugar petals also look very glamorous.

The best looking wedding cakes are those that are coordinated and you can do this with the decorations and also with the cup cake cases. The cases don’t all have to be the same it is the overall look that you want to get right, you can alternate the different colors when you come to display the cakes on the day.

For Carrie Underwood-this is what she like, this is her wedding let her to decide. Cup cake wedding cakes is something unique and this will be the next generation wedding cake. And I think she will still cut the cup cake for her husband to be. I have a feeling that they will make a huge cup cake size to put on the table and individual sizes for the guest.

cupcakes are very popular my daughter had her last kids birthday parties usein cupcakes it is roynd and stacked like a cake. just because carrrie choose not to cut a cake does this mean her marriage won’t last as long as someone who does i don’t think so. do it your way carrie this is your wedding no one else.

What’s wrong with cupcakes? Just because she doesn’t want to do the cake thing doesn’t mean she’s not being “traditional” not does it mean that she’s not going to do the garder belt/bouquet toss/first dance stuff… c’mon. let the girl do the wedding how she wants. It’s the brides BIG day.. every wedding is.. and however the bride and groom plan to do things is what makes it a special day.. not if they’re following tradition. I love the cupcake idea. I think it’s great. And I’m SO happy for her and Mike and I think it’s going to be the most beautiful wedding day for them! CONGRATULATIONS MIKE AND CARRIE!! :) :)

I recently heard that Mike sent Carrie a post-it breaking off their engagement. Is this true or just a rumor? Does anyone know? I hope it is not true because she seems so very sweet and doesn’t deserve that kind of treatment.

My niece had cupcakes at her wedding ,- it was a real country wedding inside a barn and everyone loved the cupcakes - yeah I think it’s pretty popular today - These Ivey Cakes from Nashville sound like their pretty special so I think they’ll be great!

Did you see she donated money to the Pittsburgh Animal Shelter? That is a better ‘Carrie’ topic than this one. Who cares what the girls does for her own wedding? It is her wedding so if she wants to wear fishnets and carry a Chia pet down the isle, it’s her business.

It is her wedding and I do not care what she does. It is for her and Mike, not everyone else. I do know one thing: I heard “Temporary Home” on the radio the other day, and I am always shocked and thrilled at the same time by the way this young lady can sing.
