Taylor Swift Surprises Her Millionth Ticket-Holder

Posted: April 5th, 2010 at 5:24 pm  |  By: Whitney Self

Fans attending the sold-out Taylor Swift concert in Wichita, Kan., last week arrived eager to enjoy the Fearless production. But for one lucky ticket-holder named Rachel (the girl directly to the right of Swift in the photo), the night offered much more than just a concert. Unbeknownst to her, she was the millionth fan to purchase a Fearless Tour concert ticket and Swift wanted to make sure this was an unforgettable night. When Rachel and her sister arrived at their seats, they were immediately whisked backstage for a private meet-and-greet with the superstar and later upgraded to the front row during the performance. Talk about a real-life fairytale for a Taylor Swift fan.

It’s a real life advertising scheme because that’s the only reason the label did it so they could do a press release on the 1 whatever person -

  • McKenna says:

    Posted: April 6th, 2010 at 11:03 am

jomar - It shouldn’t be surprising that Brad’s millionth wasn’t mentioned. If you look at all the blogs, you’ll notice that unless it has Taylor affixed to it, nobody responds. Some people don’t read these blogs for the information. They like a good brawl and they certainly get it when Taylor’s the subject. A dubious honor.

  • McKenna says:

    Posted: April 6th, 2010 at 1:26 pm

D Trotter - I appreciate your opinion of Taylor, in particular how your feel about her talent, i.e. vocal ability and I appreciate it because it is your opinion. However your words “…but people who WANT to believe she is a bad singer will ignore those comments from nearly a HUNDRED concerts…” is just not accurate. When I read reviews I certainly don’t make up my mind based on those reviews. I make up my own mind. I believe most people are like that. And the reviewers are just voicing opinion. For whatever reason, you’ve decided that ANYONE who believes Taylor is not as vocally talented as you do has that opinion because they WANT to - not because it’s simply their opinion. To assume that everyone who doesn’t love Taylor is a mean spirited individual is paranoid. There are many vocal artists out there that I don’t care for but I haven’t set out and made up my mind NOT to like them because I have an axe to grind. I think maybe when you make general assumptions such as this you aren’t being fair to the majority of people that don’t agree with you. Have you liked every vocal artist you’ve ever heard? I doubt it. If I liked Celine Dion and you didn’t, would that make your opinion wrong? No, it would just be a difference in taste. Stop trying to justify your opinions by tearing down someone else’s. They don’t agree. You can write a d@mn dissertation and it won’t change a thing.

lifetime your comments about carrie are the
same as flower even when you said it was
carrie fault that she only thinks of herself
i still say the same that you and flower are
the same person i know you dont like carrie
but that statement was uncalled for

Congrats taylor!! Carrie fans should leave taylor alone. It’s not Taylor’s fault that Carrie is pushing 30, neither is it her fault that she accomplished all this success at the age of 20. At taylor’s age, carrie was not even known.

you guys crack me up have u ever heard taylor and carrie answers questions about eatchother their like really good friends. I listened to them…carrie was like taylor is a really great person. Taylor said about carrie once that they where at a hocky game waiting in line for tickets and this big creppy guy came up to taylor and was like you should be a model, here’s my number and taylor was scared. so carrie was like sir i think she already has a job and gave him back the number…:) their relly good friends why can’t there fans be too….

What in the world makes you think it’s only Carrie fans?? - I’m a fan of many country artists -you’re dreamin people - at Taylor’s age?? All of country music artists could carry a tune when they were twenty years old - Taylor need to be suppressed - she’s giving country music a bad name - comments after hearing Taylor sing like - “I thought country singers could sing - they lip synch??” She’s better off in the POP world where they are used to bad singing

  • Wanda says:

Thats because she was in school getting an education where taylor should have been careers dont always last but an education does

  • D Trotter says:

McKenna, you are absolutely correct, and I tip my hat to you. And I don’t think Taylor, who never says ANYTHING negative about anyone (except old boyfriends) would care to be represented by nasty people either. I know you’re not a Taylor fan (we’ve argued about our different viewpoints in the past) but your comments are always dignified, fair and open-minded.

I have never let myself get caught up in this Carrie vs Taylor thing. It’s sad that some fans apparently feel ripping down one of these artists makes the other look better. I’m sure both of these outstanding and RESPECTFUL women would be mortified to hear their own fans belittle another artist the way some of these posts do.

Carrie is one of the best singer anywhere. I just went to her concert.

Taylor is not one of the world’s greatest singers. But she is a gifted prodigy with a totally unique artistic vision that includes her writing and performing talents, and her fans connect with her like few others.

They are totally different kinds of artists, and can both be respected for what they bring to the table (or stage) without comparing them.

BUT … I am getting very tired of Carrie fan-atics coming onto Taylor blogs for no other purpose but to rip Taylor and praise Carrie. Maybe it’s time to accept this confrontation, trot out some real comparisons, with real numbers and real facts.

Typically, posts like the ones above from “tenn” and Riley” demean Taylor’s achievements and claim Carrie’s done it better. If you two think Carrie has more concert drawing power than Taylor, you really need to get out and travel the country more!

In terms of celebrity influence and star power, Taylor has moved into a mega-star class with very few rivals. Would you like me to start comparing the numbers each is drawing on their current tour? I’ll be happy to oblige.

the haters just never give up. real country fans dont act this way. but sad no say the haters attack not just taylor but any artist you care to name. i remember when they attacked martina’s girls on her message board, years ago. and martina had cmt shut her board down. so haters hope happy, because you must really have very sorry lives.

To Riley…I was wondering do you have an excuse or at least an explanation to your lack of musical knowledge? Should I just put you in the “Mainstreamer” category and leave it as that? Probably be the easiest wouldn’t it? Then I could just find someone interested in learning basic music fundamentals instead of just watching you making a fool of yourself.

What’s so cool about that? Carrie brought up a young girl to sing with her every tour concert she did for Carnival Ride. Now that’s awesome.

Brad Paisley gave a truck to some fans. That’s cool.

    This is not.

I am not a Taylor fan but I am a big Carrie fan. Each one has her own huge fanbase; have different talents and both popular. we should just enjoy each one`s success because I for one is loving Carrie`s success right now. Lucky girl to meet her idol.

Shelly-”If you’re not a Taylor fan why click on this blog at all? Now THAT’S pitiful” to answer your question, it’s the same reason Tay tweens flock to Carrie sites and say nasty derogatory things about her. I just can’t believe you would make such a statement. And oh by the way…Taylor still can’t sing-

  • Riley says:

    Posted: April 7th, 2010 at 6:25 am

Taylors success comes from the POP world, she sought out POP success and got it- you can’t compare country artists stats to POP stats -her songs do well in POP but her last two songs on country radio just barely made the Top Ten. She might have started out in country but she ain’t country nohow

  • Redmaz says:

    Posted: April 7th, 2010 at 7:45 am

Riley, POP is NOT an individual genre of music. Taylor Swift has always been a Pop act, just as Underwood, Chesney, Strait, Urban, McEntire, Jackson, McGraw, etc. They are ALL POP acts. POP COUNTRY. They all started out in Pop Country, and it’s the only genre of today’s Country Music they are overall recognized in. You really should learn basic music fundamentals, and then be able to seperate you opinion from facts.

That is so sweet of Taylor to do!! :) She really does love her fans. I’m glad that girl got to meet Taylor. Her Fearless concert is AMAZING. Best concert I’ve ever been to! Taylor has my vote for EOTY!! And to the people above who said “She’s just at a million?” You people are idiots. She sold way over a million tickets. She’s only half way done her Fearless Tour for this year, and all of her concerts are sold out for the rest of the year.

A lot of Carrie’s songs and even Lady A for that matter, are played on top 40 stations yet they’re still considered ‘Country’. You’re making a pointless argument that you will never win. Get over it. Taylor Swift is good at what she does, but keep in mind Carrie, Keith, and Brad have all been around longer than her. Let her have her glory.

  • Sarah says:

    Posted: April 7th, 2010 at 10:05 am

Redmaz and Jazz are right. All these people Taylor, Carrie, Keith Brad etc are all pop singers. Even I know that lol! You can be pop AND country. That’s why it’s called pop country!

ok lifetime i will play your game first of all
you have to stop saying things about carrie it
bothers you that carrie and brad are perfoming
at the PGA i read the article on april 3 2010
why do you follow carrie’s every move because
your artist was not picked you pick on carrie
all the time because carrie has her own style
of singing answer this one question why carrie
with all the other artist out there you target
    carrie!

Lol Taylor’s on the 2nd round of the Fearless tour. She hit her first million over a year ago. This is probably the first millino of the 2nd tour. I’d have given anything to have been that girl!

  • Riley says:

    Posted: April 8th, 2010 at 10:46 am

The difference between Taylor and Carrie is Carrie is country pop Taylor is not country at all and remixes her songs to go after markets that are not country or country pop, although I never thought her songs were ever country or country pop - her label markets her to genres that are not country or country pop and her fans are not country pop or country , her label markets her to genres that are not country or country pop overseas just because she started in country pop doesn’t mean that Fearless should be in country or country pop because it definitely is an album of songs that are not country or country pop Taylor is not country pop or country

  • Riley says:

    Posted: April 8th, 2010 at 10:49 am

Taylor’s last two songs barely reached the Top Ten on the country chart

  • barb b says:

    Posted: April 8th, 2010 at 12:31 pm

ts does not belong in country
i agree with you riley for that
she does belong in music at all
    that is my opinion

  • Redmaz says:

    Posted: April 8th, 2010 at 12:59 pm

Like I said Riley, you need to seperate your opinion from fact. Everything you said(as confusing as it was) is merely your opinion. The fact is that Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood are only recognized in the Pop industry(whether it be Pop Country or some other genre of Pop Music). They are played on the same type of Pop radio stations, they are on the same type of Pop charts, and they are nominated at the same type of Pop awards. Your opinion aside, if you can prove to me they are recognized in the rest of today’s music (Americana/Roots Music), I will retract my statement and make an apology, and since you evidently don’t know what Pop Music is, there’s a pretty good chance you have no idea what Americana Music is.

  • D Trotter says:

    Posted: April 8th, 2010 at 2:14 pm

But Redmaz, don’t you see — YOU ARE EDUCATING everyone!

Some of these folks used to think of themselves as 100% Country purists. Now that they understand some of their favorite artists aren’t exactly Roots Country types, their negativity has become much more refined. NOW Taylor offends them because she’s not “pop-country” enough!

See what you’ve wrought? A brand new entity — Pop Country snobs! :)

  • D Trotter says:

    Posted: April 8th, 2010 at 4:42 pm

McKenna, or whoever was using that name when you addressed me on April 6th at 1:26 pm (supposedly), I have a question:

What in the world are you talking about?

And why were you talking to me? I didn’t even have a post on here until AFTER your comment. And my first sentence was: “McKenna, You are absolutely correct and I tip my hat to you”, referring to your plea for positive behavior between Carrie and Taylor fans.

Why would you be critical of someone who hadn’t even said anything? Just in case I might?
