My Latest Music Discovery Is Totally Justified

Posted: March 31st, 2010 at 12:58 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Leave it to a violent, shoot 'em up drama about a U.S. marshal in Kentucky to help me find more cool music to love. This show, Justified on the FX Network, is based on Elmore Leonard's short story, "Fire in the Hole." It stars Timothy Olyphant (who is rarely without his cowboy hat) and is kind of a cross between a modern Western and The Shield. But what I love more than the action is the music. I've heard bits and pieces of Appalachian mountain music and steel guitar-soaked country classics in the background. Some of the tunes I've found even have names, like Audrey Auld's "I'd Leave Me Too," Justin Townes Earle's "Someday I'll Be Forgiven for This," Evan Olson's "Brass Swamp Blues," Cliff Wagner and the Old #7's "Castleneck" and Duane Carlton's "It's a Long Way Down." The show airs Tuesday nights, but you can watch clips on the FX site if you are old enough.

Any idea what the name of the song and artist is from the episode, The Blind Spot. Beginning of the show when Raylan and Ava are in the bedroom. I could only catch, “only wanted to be with you”…..

    Thanks

The title song is Daughtry - Tennessee Line, but Justified edit version on commercial sounds better for me anyway

Anyone know the name of the song playing on the radio of the woman (hooker) who lives in the trailer? Raylan visits her to find out where Dickie may be after Dickie shot Aunt Helen. Only lyric I can remember is “…my baby loves John Coltrane.”

Does anyone know the song playing in the middle of the episode “Bloody Harlan”? Not much info but it’s a great country song by a male artist. I guess I will have to watch/listen more careful to the music. I really enjoy watching this show. Raylan is the man!

thanks for this…I’ve been trying to compile my own personal “Justified” soundtrack. This was a big help. Now I just need to find out where to download Duane Carlton…his stuff is fantastic.
