I'm Going on the Road With Martina McBride
It's not every day I get to go out on the road with an artist. But I know this is not just a dream because my bus call is at 5 a.m. Saturday (March 27). So I'll be spending the majority of the weekend following Martina McBride while her Shine All Night tour makes its way around the Midwest. Which means I can try to answer any and all behind-the-scenes questions you may have about her tour. (Does she stay on voice rest all day? Or does she walk around belting out songs? What junk food does she sneak from the catering table? Does she have a pre-show ritual? Is there time during the day to write new songs? Does she have a demanding 20-page backstage rider?) So if there's something you absolutely must know, just leave a question in the comments below -- and I will do my best to answer it. Check back here on Monday (March 29), or follow me on Twitter for a steady stream of random observations.

Guess you won’t be at Scapa tonight!
Kim says:
Martina did an awesome video chat for us last night…hope you caught it! :-)
My question is…Her daughters have a famous mom who is adored by the world. But, I’m sure that they are big fans of other artists, as well. Is there any celebrity (singer or actor)that one of her girls (Delaney, Emma, or Ava) would absolutely LOVE to meet?? How about Martina??
Thanks!!
Mary Beth says:
My question is…Does Martina ever go to any of the restaurants in the town that she’s performing at or do they eat on the tour bus all the time?
And also if you could ask her if she’s gonna make it to her hometown 4th of July? I know she’s out in Ireland the first part of July, but I hope she makes it to KS because I’ll be there. If not that’s ok I’ll be seeing her in Bismarck, ND on April 10th! Thanks Alison!!! I hope you have a wonderful trip with Martina!!!
PS - I would LOVE to tour with an artist and do videotaping like Becky does with Martina!!! I love video editing things! Maybe someday. Take care & God Bless
Tom says:
My question is…when are you next coming back to the U.K Martina? I missed you last time & was gutted!
CountryGalPG says:
What will you include on your next Timeless album? xx
Michael says:
Ask her how she’s accepting the fact that she’s latest act to be discarded by country music(pop).
Tom says:
Haha ignore my first question, I’ve just bought ticks to see her in the U.K in June!
Could you ask - which song in your set do you get most nervous about singing?
Alison Bonaguro says:
Mary Beth,
We just had lunch inside the venue, so I asked if that was the norm. She said yes. So I’ll get more answers after soundcheck!
DustinG says:
I know she tours alot - is there any artist/artists that Martina would like to tour with that she has not had the chance to yet? If so, who are those artists? Thanks Alison!
Tracey King Lammert says:
Who’s in chargeou of hiding the front row tickets during this tour? Thanks.
Lisa Schmidt says:
Question for Alison: What did you think of the Green Bay concert? What a night! I was blown away by the voice and the heart of Martina! Best concert ever!
I enjoyed meeting you at the pre-show fan party!
When will Martina do a smaller show again? (theatre vs arena)
bkb says:

Kraig Belz says:

Julie says:
Hi Alison! It was so cool to meet you and Becky Sat. night in Green Bay! Thank you so much for taking the time to talk to all of us, and for making the special delivery to Martina! It was such an amazing show, she is absolutely phoenominal! And I got to take Jada up to the stage during the encore and Martina came up to her and talked to her and held her hands during Summer of 69! What an awesome moment!!! Have fun on the Road! Take Care! Julie

Hello, I was wondering if there is an age limit to actually make it in Nashville? I am a song writer, musician, single mom, teacher, swim coach among other things. I know most of the people who are making it now in Nashville are mostly in their early 20s. I’m 40 and I’ll be 41 in June, I didn’t realize what direction I wanted my life to go untill the divorce that changed my whole life. Unfortunately it came at a time when I was in the middle of my college career at 38. My saying goes “if I could record one song in Nashville that hit the charts, I could die a happy teacher.” Karen
Peacock Queen says:
Karen,
Check out the Nashville Association of Songwriters International (NASI) website. If you write songs, you may wish to join. They do workshops, weekend trainings, etc. You can meet and greet people there. Good luck! I say “Go for it, girl.” Life is short and it is never too late to try as long as you are still above ground.
Nick L. says:
Sorry but you’re way too old. If you’re not young and hot, you’ll never make it. Stick with being a swim coach, because you’ll sink in Nashville
Caroline says:
Nick L.- really? You’re going to put an age limit on a dream?? If she’s good, she’ll make it…
Karen- “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.” –Henry David Thoreau
Do it! =)
I do have a question for Alison: What is Martina’s favorite magazine/book to read?
Robin says:
Oh, ignore Michael and Nick L, there are some bitter posters on these blogs that hate the industry they keep participating in daily by blogging on a pop country industry website.
Bill says:
I agree with Nick L.. Sorry Karen, but you are way too old. Unfortunately that’s the name of the game. Just think, even if Cariie could sing exactly the way she does now, but were 5ft. tall and weighed 200lbs. Nobody would be talking about her, let alone hearing her on the radio. Same thing with Taylor. Young and thin got her in.
Peacock Queen says:
Karen,
Go to the artists bios on this site and check out K.T. Oslin. She had hits well AFTER she turned 40. If you are good, then you are good, and the only way you will know is to try. You are a strong woman. You have already gone through a divorce, gotten an education, and are a single mother. Nothing is standing in your way but the fear of failure, and why be afraid of failure as long as you try and give it your best? You can always tell your kids, “Follow your dream. Momma did, and I have no regrets.”
