Jessica Simpson's Tour Led to The Price of Beauty
Jessica Simpson's new show, The Price of Beauty, premiered on VH1 last night (March 15). And it was, for lack of a better word, beautiful. She travels around the world to find out what women do to get gorgeous as defined by their culture. So in Thailand they wanted to lighten their skin, and in some parts, elongate their necks. (Simpson and her entourage ate bugs, meditated and had Thai massages along the way.) But what turned Simpson on to the project was the scrutiny she was under while she was giving country music a try. "I was on tour (with Rascal Flatts), and I had to get up on stage every night and just know that people were looking to see whether I was fat or not. You walk by 10 magazine covers and it's you and these stupid jeans," she told USA Today. So did country audiences push her out into the world to find the "reserved inner beauty" she found in Thailand? Or was it just the media that did it, when they judged her every move and put her body under a microscope? Either way, this show seems like a good fit for Simpson because it lets her be her. And I think it will show the world that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, no matter how low or high the rise of your jeans.

I glad jessica is doing this because beauty is in all shapes and sizes and different in every country…way to go jessica!
shamra says:
So get rid of your momma’s jeans Alison even though you think you look good in them.

Very tongue in cheek! Hotel :D
elizabeth says:
She is doing very well for herself. Not like some of these one or two-hit wonders of country pop who suddenly vanish.
Robin says:
Who vanished elizabeth?
Nina says:
beauty comes in all shapes, sizes and colors… and let’s celebrate that. we need not let society, media or the cool crowd define what should be felt internally…
In India, each woman feels special in any size she is.. it’s a very accepting country in celebrating all sizes. and it shows in the faces– the acceptance– the peace– it’s beautiful and dazzling..
each culture can learn from the other, what they accept and reject are only notions and limits of their mind…
good reflections, Jessica.
Robin says:
Yeah, Nina “In India, each woman feels special in any size she is”, but she doesn’t “feel so special” if she’s not married.

I watched this show and I was so proud of Jessica ! How dare that person call her fat & ugly! Who are you people?
Beauty is confidence. Be yourself. Bring happiness in peoples lives. Alison you wear whatever jeans you want.
Good job Jessica! You go girl!

I saw Jessica on The View yesterday and I thought she looked really good. I’m glad to hear her say that she loves her curves. So many girls/women get so skinny that they end up looking sickly. I can’t believe the “mom jeans” that she was razzed about wearing were a size 4. I couldn’t fit one of my thighs in a size 4! I taped the show “Price of Beauty” last night but haven’t had a chance to watch it.
Cassie says:
Good for her. She has a good voice I’ve always thought her problem is that she hasn’t always had the best songs. I hope she can get with some good songwriters and give country another try.
lifetime says:
it not about her songs it is about how women feel about beauty..not about music.

I watched Jessica’s new show on VH1, “The Price of Beauty” and I have say that I’m really impressed with her efforts to break down the stereotypes and misconceptions that concern issues with body image. She is finally given a voice and is getting so much great press for this show!
I was inspired to upload my smile to the vh1smile.com website and I saw my picture on the mosaic alongside everyone else who uploaded their smiles also!
