David Archuleta Writes More Music in Nashville

Posted: March 15th, 2010 at 2:21 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

David ArchuletaI'm sorry, but if there is an American Idol finalist who DOESN'T want to get a piece of the country pie, I'd love to know about it. That's because the latest in a long string of Idols Gone Country is that adorable little David Archuleta. He was just in Nashville again last week, working with singer-songwriter Joy Williams, and together they collaborated with Cary Barlowe, Hillary Lindsey, and Danny Orton -- all practically guaranteed hit-makers who have written for Carrie Underwood, Lady Antebellum, Tim McGraw and more. When it was all said and done, Archuletta had about 20 songs for his new album. Oh, and he got to hang in the studio with iCarly's Jennette McCurdy while he was in town because she's been in Nashville making her own country album. I'm not saying they are a couple. But if they were a couple, they'd be an awfully cute one.

They probably see the success that Taylor Swift has had in Country music so they figure “why not.” After all, Taylor’s music isn’t Country so they probably figure that they don’t have to SING Country to be CONSIDERED Country. All they have to do is say their music is Country.

David’s not going country. Joy Williams was also one of the writers for David’s first album (pop song Waiting for Yesterday). Here’s what David said about Nashville (USA Today interview by Brian Mansfield) “Sometimes, people are like, Nashville, it’s only the country and the ballads. They are good at that kind of stuff, but they care about the music. Sometimes people forget that special thing and piece to music that is so important. People get lost in ‘We need the hit’ and ‘We need the hook.’ So much is missing from that that I enjoy about music.”

Violet, those are great words David spoke. First time I read/heard them and they surely make sense!

David can sing pretty much any genre so he’d be great doing country but really doubt it. But David and Jennette would be the cutest, most adorable couple, plz let it be true!

Not all things Nashville fit into one mold. David loves soulful pop. He did a great job on Dolly’s song Smoky Mountain Memories during Idol, but I still dont see him going country, not by a long shot. As far as Jennette, please let the kids be friends quit tring to matchmake, everyone needs someone there own age in their line of work for support.

David can sing anything but puts his own twist on his songs. He’s not going country. He’s soulful pop. Any neat and he can take it to another level. I’m excited to hear what they’ve come up with in Nashville and LA.

David and Jennette are just friends. So much of the time in music, he’s surrounded by people way older than he is. He enjoys hanging with friends his own age. Plus, she knows the ropes coz she’s in the entertainment biz.

Oops…any neat “SONG”, and he… For some reason, the comment runs off the side of the page so I can’t see it to proofread.

Sorry S but Taylor wasn’t a AI shirt-tail rider. She was referring to Carrie. LOL

No Sugarland Express Carrie is never a shirt-tail rider; she has an unbelievable talent and worked hard for what she achieved. Her tour has getting amazing reviews from all critics and people from all ages go to her concerts. she is going to headline the Stadium of Fire celebration and was invited to also headline the orchestra backed Hollywood Rose bowl Concert in California. And we know it would be awesome. Her Play On album is doing well even though she refused to remix her songs to pop. That`s what we call real success. I know you`re defending your favourite artist but Carrie is in the league of her own. No comments about your favourite artist either. I understand she is your idol as carrie is mine.

David has such a gorgeous voice, but will stay a pop artist. Perhaps down the line, he’ll sing a few acoustic ballads with folksy rhythms…that could work.

David and Jennette are both Latter-Day Saints, so I they probably bonded over that and music. But very likely just friends. Each must have a crazy, unrelenting schedule!

David is so amazing! He is my hero, and i love him so much. He’s so down to earth and you can tell he really cares about his fans<3

I think that David and Jennette would be so cute together! They have a lot in common, and they hang out a lot :). From what i’ve seen, Jennette is exactly the kind of girl David said he would want to date, funny, nice, sweet, adventurous, caring, cute, and we already know that Jennette has a crush on David. She said she did in an interview<3 please let it be true that they are dating

Honestly, so many new country artists are just pop singers in cowboy hats and boots. I don’t think David is ‘going country’. He’s working with some amazing people in the music industry and gaining valuable knowledge and experiences. Good for him!!
