Brooks & Dunn Tribute Getting Better All the Time

Brooks & DunnAs far as star-studded country lineups go, this ACM Presents: Brooks & Dunn - The Last Rodeo tribute concert in Las Vegas probably tops them all. It seems like every day they add a few more artists to up the ante even more. So naturally, I want to go. What country fan wouldn't? This tribute concert has just about everyone now: Jason Aldean, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Brad Paisley, George Strait, Taylor Swift, Sugarland, Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, Reba McEntire, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban. And I wouldn't be surprised if folks like Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Zac Brown Band, Montgomery Gentry, Alan Jackson, Toby Keith and/or Gary Allan decide to get in on the fun. The show's going to be filmed on April 19 (the day after the ACM Awards) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, then will be on CBS on May 23.

Tickets are not that pricey when you consider all those big names involved. It was $162.80 for a mediocre seat last time I checked. But my dilemma is this: Won't this be the saddest country music show ever? All those artists gathering to basically say goodbye to a duo that shaped so much of the '90s country music they all know and love? I'm picturing Chesney fighting back tears as he talks about how much he's going to miss them, McEntire reminiscing about her collaboration with them on "Cowgirls Don't Cry" and Urban getting all sentimental about the days he spent touring with them.

I know, I know. Even after they go their separate ways, the music of Brooks & Dunn is going to live on forever. But the reality is, this concert is all about goodbye. And I just hate goodbyes.

Most likely Reba will reminiscing about more than just “Cowgirls Don’t Cry”; after all, she did 2 co-headlining tours with them and I believe she had them as an opening act on one of her early headlining tours. They also collaborated on the “If You See Him” - “If You See Her” albums and the song itself which went all the way to #1.

Then add to all of the above, the fact that Reba and Ronnie and Kix are very good friends, and I believe you have Reba tearing up more than once during this show!

Ronnie Dunn-one of the best vocalists in the business. Taylor Swift…uh-not really.

Very nice play on words in your blog title, Alison. Do you know which Americana artist penned that hit for Brooks & Dunn?
