Dolly Parton Opens Shop on Nashville's Main Drag

Dolly PartonHundreds of devoted Dolly Parton fans -- some adorned with pink boas and cowboy hats and others in full drag -- lined Second Avenue in downtown Nashville this morning (March 12), hoping for a glimpse of the superstar at her new store, Trinkets & Treasures. Despite the unpleasant drizzle outside, no one seemed to mind the rain, not even well-respected designer, Manuel, who waited among the onlookers and faithful followers.

Screams and the sporadic "I love you, Dolly!" could be heard as she arrived in a black SUV for the official ribbon-cutting ceremony before being whisked inside for a brief and very crowded press conference. Dressed in a bejeweled "Dumb Blonde" long-sleeved T-shirt (also available for purchase), she shared with reporters that she is currently writing new music, working on a movie about her life and is ecstatic to open her very first store in Nashville. "A lot of my best memories are centered right here in Nashville, Tenn.," she said, "Just right across at the Ryman Auditorium."

Dolly hats, T-shirts, coffee mugs and witty onesies ("Burpin' 9 to 5") can be found inside. For those more concerned with Dolly memorabilia, a few of her full-length gowns are displayed, too. "Anything I've ever done in this wonderful city of Nashville has been a great memory," she said, "and this is special for me to have a little place right here in the heart of it all."

Dolly is so cool, and nice. I would love for her to open up more of these stores in different places.

I would love to see this store–and meet Dolly. She is smart, funny, talented, a good business woman, and generous.
