Chelsea Handler Comes Around to Country Music

Posted: March 11th, 2010 at 2:33 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Chelsea HandlerI was at Chelsea Handler's show last night. Not the Chelsea Lately talk show, although that would be great to see someday, but her stand-up comedy show, Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang, which kicked off here in Chicago last night. It was hysterical on so many levels, but most of it was too R-rated to repeat here. If you really want to get a feel for her comedy, read her latest book, Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang. But I think why I initially starting loving Handler was because she often brings country singers on her late-night talk show. She's had Dierks Bentley, Reba McEntire, Darius Rucker, Jason Aldean and Sugarland. So after the show, I asked her if she really did like the music. And she told me, "I do. It's like hip-hop in terms of, the more you listen to it, the more you like it." She even told me that Sugarland is her favorite, saying, "I just love Jennifer Nettles."

I love Chelsea Handler. Because her show Chelsea Lately is on so late, I tape it and watch it while eating breakfast the next day. Her sarcastic sense of humor gets me ready for the day.

I cannot stand Handler - she’s vulgar on so many levels.

Chelsea Handler is everything that is right with this world. Love her! And with the exception of the Darius interview, I think I’ve seen every other artist you referenced on her show…

My roommates and I literally stay up every night to watch her show. It’s like our ritual. And she can be kind of vi=ulgar, but you know she’s never serious about anything, and frequently the guest comedians are worse than her. But I love when she has country singers on, and I’ve seen her interviews with most of those people mentioned. My favorite, though, that you didn’t mention, was Blake Shelton because the two of them going at it had me in stitches laughing.

I agree that you’re not the only one Alison. There are 1000’s of people attracted to mind numbing drivel such as Handler & Peterman

Sorry Alison but I’m afraid I don’t share your love of this woman. I find her humor rude, crude and downright childish. I dislike her for the same reasons I dislike Joan Rivers. They’re cut from the same bolt of cloth. Poking fun at yourself or your family for comedy’s sake is fine but Ms. Handler will say anything, regardless whether it’s tasteless…regardless whether it might actually hurt someone. Where I come from we call people like that “slime”. But hey, there will always be an audience as long as there are people with no taste for what real comedy is.

Dont care for Handler but, I find Peterman very funny. Nothing wrong with wanting to have a laugh. Laughter is good medicine when life can be stressful. That does not mean someone isnt intelligent. Why be judgemental?

The people who don’t get a kick out of Chelsea are the same people who find Glen Beck sweet & funny. You people make ME sick. Get a sense of humor and lose the “stick-in-the-mud” personality. Don’t take life so damn serious! GEEZ!

ms handler is very funny and her show is even funnier. i’ve read the 1st 2 of her books and just got the 3rd (and final) book–chelsea chelsea bang bang. i’d love to see her stand up, but it won;t happen anytime soon.
one of the things i like is that she makes fun of EVERYONE, especially herself. but hey, if you don’t like her, that’s your prerogative…and i bet she won’t care at all… ;)
btw, she has great taste…jennifer nettles and sugarland are my favorites too!!!

My friend got me hooked on her books and you literally laugh out loud through the entire thing. She is hilarious. I would love to see one of her stand up shows. She’s my favorite comedian!

People who don’t like Chelsea can suck it!…..If you don’t like her and her words offend your fragile little ears then CHANGE the channel and don’t listen to her. That simple.

We all have our opinions on things but if you dont’ like what you see or hear…don’t watch it. We all have a different sense of humor. With Chelsea its nice listening to someone that is not afraid to do or say what she wants…More power to you Chelsea!!

I love Chelsea because she says what she wants and doesn’t hold anything back. If you don’t like her, watch/read something else. Simple as that.
