Chris Cagle Breathed In and Breathed Out
How can a video that is roughly eight years old seem so timeless? When I watch this vintage video from Chris Cagle, I see one that looks like it could have premiered yesterday. I guess that either means he was ahead of his time or maybe that video trends haven't changed all that much. It was his "I Breathe In, I Breathe Out" video, which turned out to be Cagle's only No. 1 hit so far. The song itself, and his voice, are what took that song to the top of the charts. But I'd always loved the video for the way it captured that lonely heartbroken look in his eyes, just the way it would be if you'd been dumped and all you could do to get through the day was breathe in and breathe out.

Taylor Swift just made the cover of Elle magazine and you’re blogging about a washed up one hit wonder from 8 years ago?
CMT = COVER MORE TAYLOR!
Courtney says:
Are you serious? Country music is about more than just Taylor Swift! And Chris is not a one hit wonder, just listen to his albums!
Kelli says:
Thank you Alison for posting this article. I am a huge fan of Chris’s. Everything from “Beautiful Day” to “My love goes on and on” and more!
CMT = Chris’s Music is Timeless
country music fan says:
Country music doesn’t revolve around Taylor “Can’t Sing Live” Swift. I’m so tired of hearing about her. Chris Cagle is a great artist & had several songs released to radio over several years. Wish he would come out with a new cd. Others that don’t get enough recognition is Jason Muchael Carroll & Jeff Bates, both of which could out sing Ms Swift any day.
Marie Mora says:
Chris Cagle is certainly NOT a one hit wonder. He’s had many hits. The most recent being “What Kind Of Gone.” Chris continues to have a very big following even today. According to some members of his Fan Club who have seen his show recently, say he is coming out with a new CD sometime this summer.
Always Nice says:
I will never understand people who bash others. Chris Cagle is a great artist who also writes his own songs. I like Taylor Swift, she’s a sweet girl, but she is overexposed. It would be nice if all artists got a fair shot at publicity.
JT says:
Chris Cagle is amazing. I love his songs, voice, and live shows….Washed up? No Way ! Cagleheads Rock On!!!!!!
hotelmotel says:
Chris Cagle is a washed up has been.
Philly says:
I agree, Cagle is a has been. A victim of “the machine”. Doesn’t matter how good or bad you are, if you’re not making money for someone, you’re insignificant, and quite diposable. On to the next…No big deal. Pop culture destroys many peoples dreams.
Gary says:
Saw him back in October at a local club. He was awesome as always and his music is 1000 times better than that of Taylor Swift. Oh yeah, he can sing too. He had a song out several years ago titled ‘Wal-Mart Parking Lot’ - that song was an anthem for many of us from when we were in high school and growing up in a small town. If you want more Taylor, I think she has several hundred fan sites and a fan page on this site itself. Go there to rant and rave about your precious little Taylor who will be out of the music scene in a short time herself.
Tami says:

Bob says:
I like both Taylor and Chris’s music, however, how can someone call someone a one hit wonder, when they just released a greatest hits album a couple weeks ago?
hotelmotel says:
Bob wants to know how Cagle can be called a one-hit wonder when he just released a greatest hits album.
One hit wonder isn’t quite right, but Cagle has exactly 5 top ten hits. That isn’t a whole lot. He wasn’t a one hit wonder but he really didn’t have much staying power, either. As for the “greatest hits” cd, yeah it has a few hits on it but quite a few of the songs were “misses.”
Kevin O. says:
I agree the dude is washed up. Definately a has been, but lets face it CMT is not really the source for todays cutting edge music. Most the time they can’t get past Underwood and Swift. This is a very limited blogsite.
Jessica A says:
Chris is a great writer, singer and entertainer with one of the biggest hearts. He is an amazing individual and his talent is second to none.
The sad part is the songs that Cagle wrote himself are better than the ones written by others and the record labels wouldn’t let him record them or promote them.
He is and forever will be my favorite Country Entertainer. There is a lot of talent out there and no one should be bashing anyone for going after their dreams and making them come true.

Caglehead Forever says:
I wonder if you people who posted the negative comments have even heard any of his songs or have ever seen him live. Chris is my all time favorite music artist ever. He may not have very many big hits or be a big time artist like some people, but he is an amazing artist with a big heart. He is always going above and beyond for his fans. The concerts he puts on are just amazing. And those loyal to him know that he has been having a tough couple of years, but we also know that he is coming back and will be better than ever. I am a proud Caglehead now and forever.
virg123 says:
We fans of Chris know that he will always be true to himself and his fans with his music, and the stuff you call country coming out of nashville is a bunch of crap in my opinion and some stars are so overrated. Singers that write their own music like Chris and Keith Anderson. These guys write their own music and sing to thier fans and thats what its all about sometimes putting the music out that your fans love and buy is more imoprtant than making people who probably have never seen a show or listened to all their music. Rock on Chris and Keith and always know that your fans love you and want you to keep it up. Be true to yourselfs.Nothing else matters.
