Bucky Covington Sings About Real-Life Fathers
Real-life fathers are rarely even remotely like the ones on television shows -- reality, sitcoms, dramas or otherwise. Real-life fathers are more often going to be the strong silent type, and Bucky Covington has captured that kind of dad in his new song "A Father's Love (The Only Way He Knew How)." When it starts out, you may be thinking it's going to be country's answer to Harry Chapin's "Cat's in the Cradle." Remember that one from the '70s? Where the dad is way too busy to be around for his son? But this song takes a different approach, because when the dad is busy checking the tires and spark plug wires and going back and forth to the hardware store and putting new locks on the doors, what he is really doing is saying "I love you" the only way he knows how. A lot like Covington's hit, "I'll Walk," this tune tells a story that keeps you hanging on until the ending -- a happy one. It is slated to be on his upcoming album due out in the fall, but you can hear the song now on People.com.

Regina says:
This song makes me cry every time I hear it…from boredom.
Sis says:
I love Bucky, he is country sounding and hot. I love his song “A Different World”.
Regina says:
By the way, I love the picture of Martina in the Sunny D ad on the right. If I’m not mistaken, wasn’t that the picture on the cover of that gay magazine she did to try to get a gay following to buy her CD Shine, which has sold a dismal 250,000 since its release? Just wondering…

Great song! It’s perfect for Bucky’s voice. What a sweet sentiment. This is sure to be a hit!
Belle says:
Great job by the songwriters and by Bucky–his appealingly rough-hewn voice is a good match for the sweet but not too sugary sentiment of the song. (Not to mention that a lot of us can relate to the “strong, silent but loving” father figures!) Looking forward to his new album.
hildi says:
What a great song. Bucky sings this song as though it was coming straight from his heart. A moving song for sure and just in time for a #1 Father’s Day single. Get that album out.
Barbara says:
REALLY liked the song. It should do well, another no#1 single, I think. A few of my friends listened to it and loved it, also. Should be a great video.
Janie says:
This is really a tear jerker of a song (Happy.. fond memories tears). You can tell Bucky sings it from his heart. This is sure to be a hit! I love it.
Bobby Joe says:
This song is a winner. So many people will be able to relate to it just as they did with “A Different World”.
Sue says:
Bucky’s new single has all the makings of a #1 hit!!
John T. says:
BC didn’t live through many things of what he sang about in A Different Word. I find it hard to believe anything from a person who takes a nostalgic trip through everyday things in life from the past that didn’t live through them.
Kerri Kgator says:
Wonderful song! Will go far for Bucky! Thanks for posting this blog, CMT knows who the great County artists are!
John T. says:
What are you talking about amanda? I never said most singers DO experience what they sing about. This blog is about Covington, not ‘most singers”. The subject of the song is a nostalgic trip through time to when a person was young, and what they did and did not do during that time. A person would have to be a lot older than Covington to have had lived through what he’s singing about. It’s just not believable.
janie says:
John… you mean to say no person in their early 30’s have fathers that have a hard time just saying “I love you”??? what planet are you on? This does still happen in todays society. Kudos to you if you are a father who is not afraid to say “I love you” to their son.
