Janell Wheeler Wants to Sing (and Dance) Country

Posted: March 1st, 2010 at 3:18 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Janell WheelerAnother one bites the American Idol dust, and you'll never guess where she wants to go next: Nashville! Janell Wheeler made it to the top 24 contestants on the show, but now that she's been let go, she's free to choose where her career will take her next. And she is choosing country. But not just same-old, same-old country. Wheeler told EW.com she wants to bring something extra to country. "I want to be a dancing country music singer. I'm not going to do Britney Spears, but my vision onstage, I want to bring movement to country and really reinvent the style," she said. "Country is evolving right now, and I just really want to put my mark on it and use all my styles together and make something special for sure." Other than the Faith Hill/Carrie Underwood stomp and the Jennifer Nettles hip swing thing, I've never seen a girl country singer really dance. So consider my interest piqued.

What is the Faith Hill/Carrie Underwood stomp?

Also, LeAnn Rimes tried to bring “dance” to country back in the day with her performances on “Can’t Fight The Moonlight” and “Big Deal”, but I’d say that was pretty much a big fail on her part.

Oh that’s just great! Another Idol act thinking they know about country music. “Other than the Faith Hill/carrie Underwood stomp and the Jennifer Nettles hip swing. I’ve never seen a girl country singer really dance” What a ridiculous statement! Take some country music history lessons little girl.

Lets see…young, blonde, hot and clueless. Yep! sounds like another one of todays pop country diva’s to me. Shall I say? “You go girl” finger snap!

Why did she sing American Boy and Heart on the show if she wants to be country? I don’t count Love Story. Aren’t there any brunettes? Why is everyone blonde?

she needs to learn how to sing better first…

Learn how to sing better first? What does that have to do with it? As long as she looks good. Like Bullride said…young, blonde, hot, and clueless is a good chance at success. Who cares if she can sing or not? That hasn’t stopped Taylor Swift. But she has alot of monet too, so that helps.

I hope she makes it big…she got voted off way too early when other girls were worse than her

I think she should leave the dancing to the Grand Ole Opry Square Dancers and concentrate on one thing at a time.

She probably hasn’t even heard of the Grand Ole Opry.

Okay? What about Barbara Mandrell? Dancing was a huge part of her show. Hey Steven, I didn’t know that Taylor has a large collection of monet paintings.

You didn’t know that Todd? You’re not very smart are you? It’s no secret Taylor has never had any transportation problems. She’s always had the Monet to make the VanGogh down the road.

Hey, Huh? Here’s a brunette to listen to. Jordyn Shellhart. She’s certainly not traditional and leans more toward the country/pop, but she has true God-given talent and wrote or co-wrote every song on her recent cd, which is in Best Buy. Someone else mentioned the Grand Ole Opry. She’s making her debut on her 16th birthday later this month and recently signed a record deal with Sony. She’s had a publishing deal for quite awhile, but the name of the company slips my mind right now. She’s the real deal and has a pretty good shot at success, in my opinion.

Wow it use to take a lot more to get to play on the Opry. No one will ever top Hank Sr’s debut. He got six encores.

1c 18fDear Mr. Ventura,The Pentagon must have been the most secure bduiilng on Earth. They must have had CCTV and radars, etc in all different directions. Shame they could never produce any records of that plane coming in though!? Weird, ain’t it?Also, if you know a journalist ready, willing and able for the biggest international story of their lives we can give it to them.74
