Blake Shelton Tried to Quit Twitter, But Couldn't
Blake Shelton called into my local radio station this morning ostensibly to talk about his new six-song album, Hillbilly Bone, that comes out tomorrow. But instead, he talked Twitter. Specifically, how he tried to quit but couldn't, how girlfriend Miranda Lambert calls herself a Twidow because of his all-consuming habit and how he definitely uses the social networking and micro-blogging service to promote his music. He also tends to put some things out there that may not be appropriate for all ages, like suggesting that New York City hotels put their magnification mirrors at waist-high level. (He's also live on Sirius XM's The Highway, this morning, taking requests and tweeting as he goes.) But as a fan of his music and his sense of humor, I think Shelton's tweets may be the only rationale I ever have for signing up on Twitter. So when he writes, "Seriously y'all know I never try to sell y'all shit....'Kiss My Country Ass' is my favorite song I've cut! It's just 99 cents damn it! Go!," you can guess who will be first in line when the song comes out tomorrow.

I’ve heard of Miranda Lambert, but not Blake Sheton. Is he a singer or something? Lets hope he’s not a comedian.

Blake was a guest on our morning radio show- he was hilarious. He is who he is, just like Toby, Trace, and all artists who speak their minds and don’t give a rip who likes it. They still have their legion of fans. I happen to like Blake & Miranda, she’s strong & has attitude, but I’ve seen them both in interviews showing their softer side. He’s more sracastic in humor, she’s more straight-up. I like music of both.
Ann says:
I love Blake, puts on a great concert and has a wonderful sense of humor.
Becky says:
Love ya Blake and keep on tweeting :) Just don’t ignore Miranda in the process.
Mr Reacharound says:
Maybe he should be more straight up. Miranda don’t like it softer side

I tried to post a comment with “the S word in it” (basically asking if we could use it in the comments now that Alison is allowed to use it on the blog) and my comment was not posted.
I believe there is a major double standard going on. Also I want to put in a good word for “the S word” : it is a fine word and it has been maligned for too long.

Hmmmm, Blake “tries to quit” twitter a few weeks before his new album drops, then comes back like the day its out. Sounds like Blakes record label dared him to say a word during all the pre release press buzz. That’s too bad. I think Blake is hilarious on there. I think he would have created more buzz for it with his outrageous comments.

Blake Shelton is a jerk and should be banned from Twitter. He is crude and very clearly shows that he does not appreciate his fans. The animal cruelty jokes and vulgar remarks are a bit much and just shows how ignorant he is. I WAS a fan until I read his Tweets. I have since stopped following him got rid of his music. But as he indicated in one Tweet he really doesn’t care if he loses fans and the more he Tweets the more fans he offends and loses.
Matthew says:
Blake Shelton is moderately talented musically, and also talented at creating an image and marketing himself. He has more confidence than his musical talent deserves, which makes him egotistical and cocky. Just watching him on “The Voice,” I cringe thinking that people would go to him for advice and coaching. He clearly doesn’t like people, and feels he is superior to others. I don’t think he’d be a good friend.
