I've Never Seen Anything Like Eric Church's Show
Have you ever been to an Eric Church show? I went to one last night (Feb. 18) at Joe's Bar in Chicago and I've never seen anything like it. I go to country concerts for a living, so that's saying a lot. You know how there are always those people at a concert that make you think, "Wow. She's really getting into it. She must love him. She knows all the words. And, oh my God, is she weeping?" Well, imagine a capacity crowd (and then some) of fans exactly like that. When Church sang "These Boots," I counted close to a hundred fans holding up a cowboy boot. Same thing when he sang "Pledge Allegiance to the Hag," when they all tipped their hats and raised their glasses of cold, cold beer. And again during "Two Pink Lines," everyone held up their fingers to count off the six weeks in, three weeks late, one means none and two means three. It could've been all the Jagermeister being passed around, but I really think that even if they were sober, these folks would've been moved by everything Church sang.
Even though Josh Thompson's album doesn't come out until next week, the crowd seemed to be just as fervent about Nashville's new guy. Maybe that's because his debut single "Beer on the Table" is on the radio constantly and his videos for "Blame It on Waylon" and one for "Way Out Here" (on identifying with John Wayne, Johnny Cash and John Deere) are all over the place. So they sang. And sang. And sang. Thompson may be new at this, but he looked like a natural on that stage.
Church has 62 shows left between now and the end of summer -- some with Thompson and others with Jamey Johnson and Hank Williams Jr. I highly recommend you go and then report back here. I'd love to know if what I witnessed was some kind of anomaly or actually the norm for an Eric Church experience.

hotelmotel says:
I think Jon Caramanica from the New York Times summed up Eric Church best when he said that Church is guilty of being “A sheep in wolf’s clothing, when it comes down to it.” And “the music is often rote,”
I know Church has his dedicated fans but he is a pretty mediocre talent. I could see him maintaining a decent career - his music is aimed right at mainstream radio and he does appeal to a certain audience - but I think Church is a fraud.
Church’s main talent is his ability to convince people he is authentic - but stuff like “Lotta Boot Left to Fill” and “Pledge Allegiance to the Hag” shows that he’s a lot better at proclaiming his country-ness than actually recording and releasing a good song.
Coral says:
He’s coming to Des Moines in March!! I am soooo excited to see him perform!!! I’ll for sure let you know how awesome it is! :)
MarkG says:
Eric Fan’s are always like that. I’ve been to 3 of his concerts, including CMAFest at Riverfront Park. And I got the same impression, everyone was singing along, etc.
Even if you don’t care for his music, you should experience his concert at least once.
BOBBY B says:
just from his videos on you tube i can tell that he isnt just a mediocre talent. i think your wrong there hotel. a mediocre talent wouldnt even be on the radio or on tour. all of these artists are really talented. some are just more versatile then others. i love eric churchs music and if i ever got a chance to see him live i would go in a heartbeat.
Caroline says:
You GET IT, Alison! Thank you. As for the New York Times article….whatever.
Going to an Eric Church show is more than just the music. It’s a gathering of old friends and friends you’ve yet to meet, but you all have something in common. You want a couple hours away from the daily grind to enjoy some amazing lyrics, some talented musicians and a chance to just let loose and have some fun. Eric Church invites you to his party, encourages fun from his crowd and joins in with the celebration. He’s the perfect host.
Taylor says:
Eric Church is amazing, authentic, and as country as it gets nowadays. Eric Church’s concerts are just as it is put, unexplainable. I have been to three Church concerts and every single one has blown me away. His dedication to his fans and his music is genuine. Anyone who knocks Church doesn’t appreciate the real country music. No only does Church put on amazing shows but he writes his own music, so how would he not be authentic and genuine? I’m just throwing in my opinion which we are all allowed to do. I love Eric Church, the ECB, and the concerts and performances that grace the stage before me.
Michael says:
Alison giving her endorsment and rave reviews for a concert can only mean one thing. It sucked. The girl is way too limited when it come to music. That being said I’ll forever pass on Eric Church.
MiaT says:
Hey Alison ! Great review. I always knew this guy was great in concert but never gets any press. Wish I would have been there.
Dave says:
Every Eric Church show is like that, it’s an amazing experience. I’ve been to 10 and they keep getting better and better. I’m headed to the Louisville Hank Jr show with Eric and Jamey Johnson…sure to be one for the history books.
Andy says:
Eric Church is my favorite country singer right now. I’ve seen him 4 times, and will be going to see him at the State Theater in Minneapolis. This guy writes or co-writes all of his songs, and I have yet to hear one that I don’t like. I think it’s awesome that he is finally starting to get more radio play. I remember when I first saw him open for Rascal Flatts at the Minnesota State Fair, and he blew me away then. Especially, on his final song when he did a medley of “How ‘Bout You”, “I Don’t Think Hank Done It This Way”, “Black Betty”, and the guitar solo for “Crazy Train”. What I like about him his that he doesn’t use pyro or any special effects. For him, he just focuses on the song. The way he gets into each song is amazing, and you can bet your a** that his fans are singing/shouting along to every word. To the person who said he was a “fraud”….that’s Bullsh*t, sorry for the language. His first album was awesome, and topped it with his second album. It took him almost 3 years to release his second album, and it was TOTALLY WORTH THE WAIT!! This guy is gonna be HUGE!!!!
Pinchloaf says:
Joe’s Bar on Weed St. in Chicago? That place sucks
Freddie says:
RIGHT ON, Allison! I, too, was at Joe’s, last Thursday. Having been to thousands of concerts/club shows, and thousands of sporting events, I can say that, without a doubt, it ties last November’s Eric Church gigs at Joe’s as the ROWDIEST crowds I have ever seen in my life. And Eric sings every word as though he’s “living” the song all over again. Hank and Waylon were looking down with pride, and Merle and Earle would have been PROUD to have joined him onstage.
Luke Sab says:
Eric Church’s live shows are the BEST out there. I’ve traveled to see him in three different states (including his back-to-back nights at Joe’s Bar at the end of last year), and he’s never disappointed my friends and me.
“hotelmotel” has no idea what he’s talking about.
rodney says:
hotelmotel i agree with you on kinda being a fraud although i really really like his music though i like his abilty to write and being creative with his music.
hotelmotel is clueless says:
Hotelmotel….you couldn’t be more wrong. ALmost every show is sold out and his fans are among the most loyal there are. He’s one of the most talented young songwriters and performers in country music. If he’s aimed his music at radio why has he never had a huge radio hit? oh because you deem him mediocre. try going to a show before you make categorically wrong generalizations.
Jen says:
A fraud? You couldn’t be more off base hotelmotel. I’ve been to more Eric Church shows than I can count and will always go back for more. The energy at his shows are unbeatable and you can’t help but get up and sing along. He is a true song-writing talent and you can tell he loves what he does each time he gets on that stage. He doesn’t get enough press for the talent he has. Love him!
big jake says:
I go to every eric church concert when he is in alabama and have loved every one of them he has the most loyal fans in the worl be cause they can relate to his songs and for hotelmotel far as eric church being mediocre he may not have the best voice or talent but go to a concert and u will see y fans love him he writes and sings song his fans and himself can relate to.
Cory P says:
Hey hotelmotel don’t be a hater. NOT MANY SINGERS HAVE TWO CD’S, ONE NUMBER ONE, AND CAN SELL OUT A SHOW!!!!
I saw him last Tuesday and I’m going to see him tonight! All you people who are haters of Church’s music keep talking. One of these days he’s gonna run the country music business. His fans are more loyal then any other country music artist.
big jake says:
oh and by the way far as being a fraud hotelmotel he puts all he has into a show if its a sold out arena or 200 ppl in a bar he plays his heart out
bvs2541 says:
i am going to see eric church for the 3rd time tonight! the first 2 times he was awesome so much energy and everyone loves him and all the fans know all his songs! its always a fun show!
SRR11 says:
Leave it to the people that aren’t country, and don’t appreciate true country music to come on here and criticize him. Truly amazing performer. Eric can sing too; and thats alot more than can be said for many of the other artists out there right now (Taylor Swift for example). There are videos of him on Youtube, sitting on the back of his truck in Nashville playing acoustic by himself to a small crowd. That’s a true country artist; and it shows that he is in this business for “the songs”, I doubt he even cares about the money.
If you understand and appreciate good music, Eric is in a class right up there with Waylon, Hank, Merle, etc.. Justin Moore and Jayme Johnson are right there as well.
Hotelmotel and others that hate, please switch over to POP radio. You don’t have a clue.
Jennifer Jackson says:
Eric is amazing whether listening to a CD or seeing him live… He puts on one of the best shows in the business!! Love ‘em, Whoa Black Betty Bamalam!! (:
Tyler G. says:
E Church is the man. The guys broke his foot and was still jammin at his concert at the rib fest in Pittsburgh. Most underrated country singer around!
Adrienne King says:
i have been to 2 of his shows and they were always just how you described in this article. he has sooo many crazed fans, including myself!
Melanie says:
Cant wait for Eric to make it ‘down under’. Then i promise you I will rave on like ya’ll. You guys are makin me jealous!!! Cant wait to go to see him live…dvds and cds will have to do for now :)
CJ says:
Saw him with Jason Aldean in SC GREAT show never slowed down!!! Made a fan out of me. Love the Cd Carolina :)
susully says:
I have been to 3 of Eric’s shows in the last 5 months 2 in the Boston area, and @ the North Carolina State Fair!! I believe all have been sold out… each in a larger venue than the last. SOOO many Eric Church fans up here. EVERYONE knows every word to every song!!! The shows are amazing. Eric’s band is awesome, been listening to the lastest CD for the past 8 months continuously…can’t get enough <3
Terri says:
I saw Eric open up for dierks bentley in st Louis (I didn’t know who Eric church was) and had never heard any of his music and left LOVING him! I have since seen him 5 times and getting ready to see him in st Louis for a sixth time. I also drove 7 hours to council bluffs Iowa to see him. He comes out with a bang and leaves you wanting more! You can tell he TRULY enjoys being on stage and the crowd singing his lyrics to ALL of his songs. I’m starting to hear his music more and more on the radio and I feel like the industry is finally seeing what his fans have seen since we all were intoduced to him! Go ECB!!!!
Lisa says:
I became a fan of Eric Church after he lit up the stage when I saw him perform at the N.C. State Fair several years ago. I drove two hours one way to see him because when I interviewed Trace Adkins for a newspaper preview he told me Eric was his favorite new talent. I was not disappointed. I think Eric breathes much-needed new life into country music. I also think he can’t be labeled as strictly “country” much in the same way Steve Earle has never been just “country.” Eric’s rockabilly tunes and songwriting talent are reminiscent of a young Earle.
Katie says:
I have seen him many times in many venues and not only is every show that same show you witnessed but I’m one of those crazy people rocking out to every single word!!! His concerts are like no other! The energy coming off the stage resonates throughout the crowd and you can’t help but tap your feet and bob your head even if you don’t know the words. He loves his fans as much as we love him which is why he is always reaching out to the crowd and holding meet n greets. You can see how much they all truly love being on stage! No matter what song he is playing there is sure to be a tune that hits home and their sound is the perfect mix of country and rock! Eric church is one of the few artists that, regardless of the venue, plays it loud and encourages his fans to rock out!
Jennifer says:
I saw him three times in concert (basically every time he came to my area) and every time was fantastic. He is THE most unbelievable and talented contry music artist out there!!! His music is straight from the heart. Can’t wait until he comes again- I am there!
Alex 87 says:
I went to eric church on feb 15 in boston. Iv been to tons of concerts with all kind of music and eric was by far the best concert Iv ever been to. Were going agen in NH on may 31.I think of all singers today eric has the best songs and best shows. My fav singers are Johnny Cash, Eric Church, waylon, Jamie Johnson. Every one should see him live its grate!!!!!
Kim says:
I’ve been to 4 of Eric Church’s concerts! He is one of my favorite performers. We got to meet him both of the times he was at Coyote Joes. I absolutely love his songs and seeing him in concert is just amazing… every time we’ve seen him it’s been packed and always a good concert. Even the first time I saw him and only knew Sinners like me… I had a great time and loved his songs with the catchy and fun lyrics. He’s coming next month to Royal Oak and I cannot wait to see him, I think he’s just one of those artist where you just don’t get sick of hearing his music over and over again.
dansch says:
Just saw the show in Clifton Park, was awesome - great bar songs! GREAT SONGS AND PERFORMANCE! We will be going again if we can convince Eric to play Saratoga this summer!!!???
gwiddy23 says:
EC concerts are rediculously good! If you don’t wanna have a good time or get rowdy don’t go. I’ve been to 3 myself and usually end up talkin my way out of goin to jail!
Danni says:
I first saw Eric when he was touring with Brad Paisley and I had no clue who he was. He rocked the stage so well that I remembered the date of his first CD release and bought it. I’ve been to 5 of his shows and he still knows how to really connect with the audience. The last show I went to he had a broken foot and still got the crowd hyped up and roaring! I love his songs, his style and he’s one of the very few country artists I can listen to without end.
Patti says:
*meh* don’t worry about the haters….I started going to see Eric in 2006. Back when he’d play to 200 people…now he’s playing 2000+. It’s been an amazing journey watching his career rise by slowly building a fan base. Simply by playing…and playing and playing, giving 110% to his fans!
You have to see the show to believe it! In Boston - there was a security guard saying “this isn’t my kind of music”, “I never listen to country” and my favorite “country sux”. At the end of the show he was flipping out “He was AMAZING” “I’m going to have to get his CDs”. When you see Eric live…..it’s just unbelieveable.
Allison - thank you for the outstanding review! It’s good to see people “get it”. :)
Lacey says:
I have been to two small Eric Church shows and headed to my third next month. I’ve never been disappointed and I would see him a million times if I had the opportunity! Theres definitely nothing like an Eric Church Show or an Eric Church fan!
Amanda says:
Eric Church is amazing. He puts on a hell of a show! Have seen him many times and he always leaves you wanting more. Can’t wait to see him this Sat night in Oxford, Ms. I love EC. If you’ve never seen a concert you need to! You won’t be disappointed!
Carrie says:
I absolutely make it a point to see Eric Church whenever is in the midwest! I’ve seen him in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois….several times. He is amazing and I can’t WAIT to see him again, soon!!!
Sara says:
I saw Eric Church at the Clark County Fair about a year and a half ago, before the new cd (front row seats!). The show was amazing! Eric’s energy is phenomenal and he really had fun with the crowd. I can’t imagine what it is like to see him at a bar, but I plan to find out next time I can! If you haven’t seen him, and you like real country music, check him out.
Beth Payne says:
I saw Eric last summer at the Iowa Newton Speedway. Eric puts on a great show that is real. You get the feeling that who he is on stage is who he is in person. His music and lyrics is really what he is all about and sums it up on his song “Those I’ve Loved”. If you haven’t been to a show….you’re truly missing out.
gwiddy23 says:
EC concerts are rediculously good! If you don’t wanna have a good time or get rowdy don’t come to one in Arkansas! I’ve been to 3 myself and usually end up talkin my way out of goin to jail!
Matt says:
Let’s just put it this way: Next month I’m going to my 4th Eric Church show, and I’ve never seen anyone else more than once. His show’s are simply incredible. The last concert of his I went to, I took a friend who doesn’t even like country music (I don’t really even know how to explain what genre he likes), and he said it was amazing. I’m hoping to go to at least one other concert before the summer is out, because it’s sure to be one hell of a time!
Christina says:
Love love love eric church. He is awesome. Love his concerts. Im so happy for him. Seen him twice at joes bar a couple times for CMA fest and somewhere else but cant remember lol. All I have to say is….”No talking during CHURCH!!!” haha. Only a few people will get that saying HA!!!
Matt says:
My wife and I have seen him twice and he is our favorice singer and showman. He gets so into singing his songs and the atmosphere. We cant wait for the country summer throwdown tour at Blossom Music Center. Highly recommend everyone going and seeing him.
Jeff Dykhuis says:
I wrote a comment on this, wonder where it went, maybe it will show up later?
Tanya says:
Been to two of his concerts - a small one in Denver and a bigger one in Boston! He is amazing, he gets the crowd really going and seemed high off of our energy. Best concerts ever!! Can’t wait to see him again!!
Neil says:
Eric Church is by far the most underrated talent in country music, you don’t see many artist that write all of their own songs! I’ve seen Eric perform at the Grizzly Rose twice and at the Rutledge in Nashville. His concerts are by far above and beyond the best I’ve been too, that includes Garth Brooks and George Strait! The intensity that he brings to the stage spills out into the crowd, and it’s electric! CMA Fest needs to put him at the main stage this year!
Liz says:
Eric’s free show at the York Interstate Fair in York, Pennsylvania was amazing! He came out to perform…with a broken foot…Thanks man! It was so awesome and front row seats didn’t hurt! I can’t wait to see him in PITT on May 29th!
A.J. says:
Glad you went and saw the show, but you ain’t seen nothing till you come to a Boston Eric Church show, i’ve been to every show he does has done up here for the past 5 or 6 years from when he was opening up for Brad till headlining is own tours now.he tears the roof off the place and the fans are what allows that to happen i’ve never seen anything more insane, its amazing. go to more shows, and come see one in Boston. everyone, YOU MUST GO SEE ERIC LIVE YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE MISSING!
Steve G says:
Eric rocks. I have seen him 3 times and he never dissapoints. Saw him in philly on valentines day with my friends. it was they first time they have seen him and they have seen a lot of concerts. They said that concert was the best they have been too yet. Love how everyone at these concerts are hardcore fans, makes it a lot of fun.
Suzanne Barnhill says:
Hello Eric,
I went to the tour in Boston at the House of Blues., that was my first time seein you. I was in the front row with my sista’s. Actually my sista took a picture of you and you smiled right at her, it was great. Loved your concert and can’t wait to go see you again. You certainly tore the roof the off at the house of blues baby…
Jason says:
I Saw Eric Church in Boston at the house of blues. Best concert I’ve ever been too. He Put so much energy in to the performance, I think the crowed fed off his energy and vice versa. Josh Thompson’s put on a great show as well. Eric is in the Country Throwdown Tour with Jamey Johnson, Montgomery Gentry, and others. Can’t wait it’s going to be another awesome show by Eric Church!!
Katy B says:
Honestly, I have been to countless country shows and by an absolute landslide Eric Church is the best performer out there currently! I saw him for the first time almost a year ago in Nashville for 2 private shows and 2 public shows and that is when i saw how amazing this man is! You have never seen a crowd go crazy until the Pre-playlist to a show sharts and everyone in the room knows it is time for the band to come on stage because they have all seen him countless times. Since that weekend i have seen numberous times including this previous weekend at Joe’s Bar and again it was great! I count the days till we see him again in May!!!! I Love Eric Church!!!
Gregg from Jersey says:
I took my girlfriend to see him in NYC 2/10/10. We drove into the city in a major snowstorm just to see him. Not to our surprise, so did everyone else. The place was packed! It was the second time I’ve seen him and it was her first (definitely not last). I’ve seen many many many live shows from all different genres.. EC is top 5 for sure. The crowd was rockin’ and so was EC! He gave it his all and did not disappoint.. He even offered refunds for the people who couldn’t make it(their loss!) EC rocks!
Kim says:
The first time I ever saw Eric Church in concert was back in spring of 2006 when he was an opening act for Dierks Bentley. I had never even heard of him until that night. Since then my sisters and I have been to see him perform ten different times. Every concert has been AMAZING! He makes every concert special. I really love his songs and can’t wait to see him again next month.
Matt says:
I have been to 4 of Eric’s concerts, and I can honestly say they are the best I have been to. I attended a charity/benefit concert in a small Iowa town of less than 100 people and couldn’t have had more fun. The amount of energy that guy puts out on stage is unbelievable. Not to mention his great band! The fact that he would take time out of a tour to come to Aredale, IA is just awesome. Every concert I have been to of Eric’s has just gotten better. Give the guy a good crowd and a little Jack Daniels and he gets the party started and keeps it going! Great Job Eric, keep up the good work. You will get your chance soon.
MattieSaxy says:
The 1st time I saw Eric he opened for dierks bently and I had no idea who he was, but wish I knew the words to his song because he put on such a great show. After that I learned all the songs and fell in love. I’ve been to several shows including everytime he comes to my home town plus I’ve made some road trips out of state. The engery level is like nothing else, he truely is one of a kind. I’ve been to several country concerts and NObody comes close to singing songs with such meaning and actually performing them with passion bc they are words for te heart.
Eric and the band and probly the most down to earth people in the world and once you see them in concert and meet them it’s like an addiction to see them again YES they are that good. Buy the albums, go see him live in concert, and check out the website. I promise you won’t be disapointed
;)
And Josh Thompson is following close in Eric’s footsteps.
Danielle from Wi says:
I saw Eric at the Pabst Theater in November and it was the best concert i went to! Ive gone to tons of concerts and even went to Nashville for the CMA festival. The theater was packed and everyone in theater was singing and dancing. At that concert Eric was even on crutches and couldnt move all around the stage but he got the entire crowd on their feet. I even got to meet him and he was super nice and down to earth. When he comes back to Wisconsin I will prob be the first one to buy tickets! I Love Eric Church! He is my fav singer and I let everyone know!
Lisa says:
I have been to a few Eric Church shows and they are always amazing! He always put on a great show!
Leah says:
I’ve been to several EC shows over the years and the point of going isn’t just to listen to some good music, it’s the atmosphere. Everyone there wants to have a good time, get a little away from problems in life and make friends. Eric’s level of energy and excitement never fails and is always at 110%. This gets the crowd into the show and proves what an amazing entertainer and artist he is. Not everyone may like his music, but you can’t deny the passion and excitement he feels for his music and performing for his fans.
Dan says:
Hotel, you have absolutely no idea what your talking about. When i first heard Eric’s Sinners Like Me album, i was absolutely amazed. I knew country could make a comeback because of this guy. Carolina and Sinners Like Me were the first, and so far the only albums that ive been able to listen to all the way through, and honestly not want to skip a song. Eric puts on a hell of a good show. If he didnt, i would not be going to back to back concerts in Michigan.
Patty Popp says:
Love Eric Church! Saw him at Levon Helm’s place in Woodstock, NY back in November. Hoping he’ll play the Stone Pony in Asbury Park this summer. It’s much closer to home as I live at the Jersey Shore. Common’ Eric!
Nikki says:
Seriously, the best live show I have ever been to. I saw him twice, once this summer opening for Brooks and Dunn in Hamburg, NY then again two weeks ago in Niagara Falls.. just keeps getting better. The crowd was so pumped and he delivered an amazing show. can’t wait to see him asap again! Love this guy and his band!
Taylor says:
Eric Church is the man… I’ve seen him 3 times and have been close enough to him to see up his nose. He’s brought me to tears.. and for 2 years I tried getting my boyfriend to listen to country music, it took 1 listen through Eric’s first album to get him to become a believer in down home country, not the pop in my county crap out of Tim McGraw and Kenny CHesney.. If popularity went by talent, song writing and dedication, Eric Church would take the cake, not those pretty boy front men that look good in a hat and a pair of wranglers, I’d like to see them hang out with the fans or sit on the back of a truck in a park just singing to share the music..
ERIC CHURCH LIVE IS A RELIGIOUS EXPERIENCE.. DON’T KNOCK IT TILL YOU’VE TRIED IT
JT123 says:
I literally have just about every county music song ever written since Garth on my itunes, and I go to at least a dozen country music concerts a year. To me, the music doesn’t get any better than Eric Church. The two albums that have been released by Eric Church are incredible. You know how artists put out new music, and there may be five or six songs that are good?… Literally every single song on both albums is phenomenal. You just don’t see that. I can’t truly explain how his music makes me feel, I could listen to this music all day every day, and never get tired of it. I’ve been to his show and had the chance to meet him, and I’m going again in a couple weeks, and can’t wait. Thanks Eric!!!!!
Darcy says:
To be perfectly honest I was skeptical when I first heard of Eric Church, a friend recommended him and not being a country fan (other than Garth Brooks and other classics) I doubted I would find anything I liked. Well that was over a year ago now and I have been to 6 Eric Church concerts in that time and am planning on seeing him several more times before September. To say that his fans are simply loyal is not doing us justice, we are better fans than any I have ever encountered. I have driven several hours, numerous times just to go to a show of his and his show this past November at Joe’s was truly epic. He is a real artist, he writes what he knows. People complain that country is redundant but Eric Church takes the same themes that you see over and over again and makes them personal. He connects to his fans and thats why he sells out show after show, he is the best performer I have ever seen and will continue to go to because in my opinion, he is simply the best.
ECfan87 says:
I’ve been to 7 Eric Church concerts and am getting ready to see him twice this week. First, Hotel guy you’re an idiot…you’r probably one of those guys who likes Rascal Flatts and Chuck Wicks. I’ve never seen anyone on stage that get’s so excited and fired up when the crowd sings back his songs. Half the time his fans are singing his songs louder than her is. He has said that he makes albums and not singles and this is truely the case as there is only a song or two off of both records I dont’ particularly care for. Like people have said before, I can’t quite explain what it is about him but I could listen to his music forever and never get sick of it. The ECB band is one of the best in the business!!
Elmore@MSU Springfield MO says:
Eric puts on one of the best shows I have seen. I have seen him 3 times over the past 2 years and every show it is the same enthusiasm. Not to mention his great song writing ability, his band is pretty rockin. Its just an all around great band!
Cant wait till another album comes out.
IN SPRINGFIELD MISSOURI MARCH 6 @GILLOZ THEATRE, STILL TICKETS
Nashvegas says:
Eric Church performs like no other!! I’ve seen Eric’s shows at least 6 times now and never once have I been disappointed. He truly gives his all at every performance. The fans can easily get caught up in the rowdiness and excitement of every word. You truly have to go experience a show for yourself to fully understand the “Church affect”. Once you do, you’re hooked! Like the lyrics in “Those I’ve Loved Along the Way” say, “for [him] it’s always been about these songs”, and as an audience member you can certainly feel that.
Emily says:
It’s either you don’t know Eric Church, or you just can’t get enough Eric Church. I’ve seen him way too many times to even begin to count. I saw him before anyone really knew who he was for free with maybe 100 in attendance. I saw him open for Sara Evans in the front row. Stayed only for Eric and gave my front row seats for Sara’s perfomance (She’s got a lot of boot left to fill). His energy is out of this world amazing. I was actually at this show in Chicago…just when you think there is no way he can even get better - he somehow pulls another trick out of his sleeve. Meeting him is one of the best experiences ever. He is so genuine, so down-to-earth, so thankful to have each and every one of his fans. If I didn’t have a job - I’d be at every single one of his shows. In the mean time I can’t wait to see him in Royal Oak, MI. Oh, yeah, he’s kinda cute too! ;-)
LARRY says:
MY DAUGHTERS AND I SAW HIM IN KY.HE WAS FANTASTIC .BROKE LEG AND ALL .WILL SEE HIM AGAIN SOON. PLACE WAS PACKED!!
Robert says:
I saw Eric Friday night, Feb 19th, here in Knoxville it was an awesome show as always with Eric! I’ve watched him go from small venues to larger and larger audiences. I wish all musical artists put as much emotion in their shows as Eric does. Of course when you write or co-write as much as Eric does it just means more to you too and you sing it from the heart! Keep it up and we look forward to the next visit on Rocky Top! Robert
Heather Banks says:
I have been to several of Eric’s shows and he is by far the best entertainer I have ever seen!!! He is so passionate about his music and by far is a genuine country boy…not a poser like a lot of the new country artists you see today!!! If you are looking for a good time to get loud and rowdy on PBR definately hit up one of Eric’s Shows…you won’t want it to end!!! I LOVE ERIC CHURCH!! See you in Minneapolis on March 25, 2010!!!!
Kristen says:
We drove 7 hours to see him last night. We like him and his shows THAT MUCH!
WisconSINNER says:
This show was my 22nd EC show that I’ve been to over the past 3 years, which is small potatoes compared to a few of my other friends that I’ve met at these shows. In response to hotelmotel’s comments, I would challenge him/her to actually attend a show. Not in the back, but front row with some of the awesome people that frequent these concerts state to state and sometimes even country to country. If you think that his music isn’t genuine or “real country” then I would like to know what artists out there live up to your standard. Eric’s music has touched me personally and even gotten me through challenging times in my life. To top it off, the guy is just a great guy off stage too. Not what you get in your formal picture and an autograph meet and greet, but if you are ever fortunate enough to talk to him one on one, he’s as genuine as they come. So I challenge hotelmotel to come out, meet the Church Choir members, have a drink or two, or ten, and let the ECB kick your ass as Eric would say. It’s experience like no other.
J.J. says:
Eric Church is a natural when it comes to performance and pure energy! Country music should take a lesson from him when it comes to putting on a good show and writing good music. I watched him in Columbus Ohio with a broken leg and the show was still amazing. There is a group of twenty of my close friends including myself that go to at least three shows a year. We even have traveled 300 miles one way to see him. You wont find me doing that for anyone else in country music right now. My only complaint is that I have yet to have a few beers with the guy. Oh and that I’m not his bass player. (sorry Lee). And to Hotelmotel, since when has anything from the New York Times ever had any credibility when it comes to country music? Since we are blogging about how great his shows are and its obvious that you have never seen him perform, I guess its safe to say you my friend are the “fraud”. Thanks Eric for your dedication and talent and I am looking forward to seeing you over the next year!
Angie says:
I’ve seen Eric twice and it was fantastic!
Christy says:
Anyone who thinks that Eric Church doesn’t have talent or energy is lacking sight and hearing! He is amazing! I just recently saw him at the Knoxville, TN show and he was incredible! The energy that he gave was phenomenal! He put forth such an effort to make sure that those of us who paid to see him had a kick ass time! I for one, had a KICK ASS TIME and so did the other 3 people that were with me. I have seen some big name performers but I have never seen a performance like the one that Eric Church performed when he was in my small town. I would pay again and again to see him perform again! Loved it and can’t wait for him to return!
Suzanne says:
Yup - sounds like every Eric Church concert I’ve been too… including when he was still the opening act - for Brad Paisley… You forgot to mention all the “fist pumping” - both on stage and in the audience… LOL My favorite Eric show however, had to be at CMA Fest 2009 when he did a “songwriters night” - It was just Eric and six or so of his songwriting partners sitting on stage with guitars and microphones, telling stories about writing together and singing songs…. THAT was an absolutely FANTASTIC show!!!! :)
Wes says:
I’ve been to both of the Eric Church concerts in my area and have tickets to the upcoming one on March 25th. I’ve been to my fare share of concerts, from country to rap/hip hop to rock, and I’d have to say the Church concerts are by far some of my best memories. The smaller the venue the better the concert. The whole crowd is usually going nuts and singing along. I’ve also been know to pull of a boot and wave it in the air.
Beth says:
I have been to two Eric Church concerts the first time I saw him was in Raleigh at the state fair. I traveled over 800 miles to get there. I thought seeing him perform in his home state would be special and it was. He rocked Dorton Arena broken foot and all. The crowd was insane for him nobody sat down for the entire show. For the last song all the fans poured out onto the floor in front of the stage. And I swear everyone there knew every word to every song he sang. As for Eric Church being a fraud I think that’s nuts. I think Eric Church is who he is and if you listen to his lyrics he is telling you who he is, that’s why his fans love him they beleive what he is singing. Eric Church and his music represent to me what I beleive country music is supposed to be.
Brady says:
After the the show two nights ago in Charleston, SC, I have now been to 7 Eric Church shows. I have driven as far as 200 miles twice to see him in concert, and will drive farther in May to see him as part of the Country Throwdown tour. Every single show, the crowds seem to be right along with me singing every word to every song, even the ones that country radio doesn’t have the guts or good common sense to play. I’m proud to be right there in the middle of it all. As far as the comments from hotel motel questioning Eric being authentic, I notice he made those comments AFTER he went to the show and not while he was in the middle of a big crowd of Eric Church fans. I’ll take Eric’s word on who he is any day. And what he is, is a passionate singer, a great songwriter, and an extremely energetic performer who genuinely appreciates his fans for showing up to here him play his incredible music.
RH says:
I have been to one EC concert and going again next week, I have both CD’s and plan to wear them out. My daughter will be attending her 5th concert. We both love him and his music. So original not like a lot of the wannabees. When we saw him perform in KC his foot was broken and I actually saw him wince a couple times, he is so into performing and his music. I was pleasantly pleased to see lots of fans my age there, he crosses all lines and reaches lots of ppl. Only surprised to hear the negatives, EC is all about positive and making everyone feel good.
Blond1 says:
I have seen Eric Church perform more than 80 times since January of 2007 and each show is just as exciting as the last. He is one of the most authentic and passionate artists out there and unfortunately does not get the recognition he or his song writing deserves. Alison - I loved your article!
Lexi says:
I’ve seen Eric twice now and am going to see him again in March, April and May. My husband and I travel up to 8 hours away to see him. Joe’s bar was an awesome night and yes, all his shows are like that!!! I’ve seen many big artists in the last year such as Keith Urban, Toby Keith and Sugarland……………Eric blows them all away. His connection to the audience is magical. He doesn’t just stand up there and sing like Toby does (used to be in his fan club for years), he truly connects with us and I love it!!! Just signed up for Eric’s fan club!! You Rock Man!
Dave B says:
Eric Church is hands down one of the most passionate and talented artist I have ever personally seen. I am from Boston, Ma (not exactly the center for country music) and have seen him in concert about 5 times, basically every time he makes it to the north east. I am amazed at his dedication to have at least one show up in an area where it is not exactly known for supporting country music. But every time he tours he makes it to the north east and it gets better and better each time. It makes me feel good as a fan to witness that passion and dedication in his shows.
jw says:
Eric Church is the best country singer out there. If you have not seen him I would surely try to. If you aint country you wont like him cause he is straight country and he tells it how it is.
A Myers says:
and you said it perfectly ECFAN!! people that like rascall flatts and taylor swift may not like him but real music lovers do.
Sewell says:
No doubt, hands down, eric church puts on the best show that i have ever saw. Been to 4 all at different places and each and every time i walked away amazed…even if you can’t remember the concert you’ll walk away knowing that it was still money well spent
Carter says:
I’ve seen him 8 or 9 times and it keeps getting better. Hotel it sounds like lot of boots left to fill was written just for you. His music is not aimed at mainstream radio or they’d be playing him instead of rascal flatts and the other pretty boys…and girls…that make 12 year old kids happy and pop stations money. You might as well have wrote Tiger Woods is faithful or America Sucks because you didn’t make any sense chief.
Stephanie says:
I went to an EC concert on Nov. 4th. I was blown away. Even with his leg in a cast, he was hopping around and dancing on his barstool. Everyone in the crown was singing, dancing, holding up beers and boots. Eric is a great talent and I’m sure his career will be long. Highly recommend everyone go to a show at least once! (But then you won’t be able to stop haha)
TJ says:
Eric Church “rocked my ass from a bar stool” at Joe’s Bar as well, not many people can sell out a show, preform, and rock from a bar stool with a broken foot. People buy his music/tickets because in some way his music…which he writes…is part of someone’s life at one point. Keep rockin’ boss. The person that said Eric is a fruad is full of himself or just straight up jelous because they are a musician and can’t sell their own music. I may be wrong, but I’ve never really cared what other people have to say.
BobbyofMN says:
I’ve seen the ECB perform 4 times and am going to see him again in the end of March. I don’t think I could ever see him enough because no matter how many times I’ve heard the songs or have seen him live, his shows never get old. It’s a new experience each and every show. One of the best of the bests.
Jen says:
I’ve seen Eric Church a few times. He is my favorite singer and I must say…his concerts are awesome!!! His music…the best. The way he is on stage…crazy!! And the fans….well we are just the best!!!!!! He truly rocks the place!!!!! And well all of us girls know that he is completely hott!!!!
ree says:
I’m with ECFAN87 and A MYERS on this one. A fraud!? You’re nuts. A fake could never have packed concerts over and over again, have people relating to his music day in and day out, and have his music constantly on the radio and tv. Have you ever been to one of his concerts? Everyone’s in a great mood and everyone sings, everyone knows every word. His fans are dedicated. You leave feelin the best you ever felt about yourself and where you come from. It’s like he writes his music just for you personally. He lives his music. Thats the farthest thing from a fraud if I’ve ever seen it. He’s my all time favorite country star. I could listen to him sing all day. Go witness it yourself before ya call him somethin he ain’t, I gaurantee you’ll change your tune.
JBell says:
Let’s face it…COUNTRY AINT COUNTRY NO MORE! Eric Church is one of the few REAL country singers there are out there today. There is nothing fake about him; he writes all of his own songs. When he performs he has so much passion and dedication and you actually believe and feel what he is singing about. He is the real deal, unlike all of the jokes out in country music today(taylor swift, rascal flatts, sugarland, etc). When you go to one of his shows, even if don’t know a single word to any of his songs, you will be standing up screaming for more. Sounds like hotel has a warped sense of what is country just like most people nowadays. Hopefully, Eric can save country music and get it back to where it needs to be. REAL AND FROM THE HEART!
Matt says:
Saw my first EC concert this past weekend when he came to Atlanta… It was absolutely amazing I know the bar he was in was well over capacity for the sold out show.. funny thing is the bars main catch phrase was we never sell out..WRONG!!! there had to have been well over 2000 people in there and nobody sat down the whole time he was on stage he plays loud and fun but the greatest thing about it was the crowd was right there along with him and you could actually hear the crowd singing every single word to every single song he played that night he announced that he is coming back to Atlanta in April and that night i decided I am to I havent had so much fun in forever if you EVER get a chance to see him live BETTER BUY YOUR TICKETS QUICK CAUSE THE WORD IS SPREADING AND THEY AINT GONNA LAST LONG!!!!!!!!
Angi H says:
I’ve seen EC live 4 times now. Every show has been the best show of the year! You know how singers can stop singing during the chorus of their big hit song and the crowd sings it for them, well at an Eric Church show, it’s EVERY WORD to EVERY SONG! Even those not released to radio. And I don’t mean just a few people, it’s the entire crowd. People are just that passionate about his music, and it’s well deserved!
Catherine D says:
I saw Eric Church open for Dierks Bentley before anyone hardley knew his name and LOVED him. Went to see him in Minneapolis a while after and just can’t get enough! The most high energy true show I’ve ever seen. I can’t wait to see him again! I want to make it a yearly tradition!
Ryan Miller says:
Eric church is sick… saw he at the cabooze, seein him in kalamazoo and WEFEST, cant wait
Blah says:
the norm
Kurt Sliefert says:
I remember the first time I say Eric Church Live, I was in Memphis, Tenn. with work, and we decided to go down to Bourbon street. We were just walking from one bar to the next and I heard some band singing “Pledge Allegiance To The Hag” I stopped someone and said who is playing? He said Eric Church, and that it was giving a free concert so I went in leaving my boss and everyone behind. By the end off the concert I was hooked. I got to meet him after and told him that he was the best thing to come out in country music in a long time. I hope that ment as much to him as his music does to me. I went home and told my buddies watch out for him he is going to be huge. Now we will spend nights drinking and howling at the moon to all of is music. Eric is coming to St. Louis next Friday and I can not wait.
KimiRN says:
I have been to 5 Eric Church shows. Just went to see him at Rams Head in Baltimore on the 22nd. Had a blast. Eric Church just draws you in. I saw him years ago when he opened for Brad Paisley at our county fair. I had no idea who he was but I knew after seeing him I was buying that album. Sinners Like Me stayed in my CD player until Carolina came out. Eric Church has brought several firsts to my life. First time I have ever know every song on a CD. First time I have ever joined a fan club. First time I have seen any artist perform 5 times. I Love Eric Church. I have turned all my friends into Eric Church fans. They can’t wait to go again. We are planning a road trip for the next show. We will travel to see Eric Church!!! God help us when the rest of the world figures it out. We won’t get to see him at these intimate venues; instead we will be at coliseums and stadiums. Until then I’ll see you at the next show.
Michael says:
I saw Eric Church at a sold out show at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville last night. His energy is amazing and he gets the crowd involved in every song. One can easily see the classic country and rock influences on his music and shows. I will definitely go see him again.
ash tele says:
WTF does some ole slick from NY city know ’bout country anyhow? Nothin worse than a non-musician critic making judgements ’bout what he don’t know!
Ryan says:
im curious as to why some comments are getting deleted? just because we say that eric is “country” and kenny chesney, rascal flatts, lady antebullum, taylor swift etc. etc. etc. are not? sorry but the truth is the truth. eric is as real as they come and unless youve been to a concert you will not understand. hotelmotel must have been in the audience when eric opened up for the flatts and he played too LOUD!!!!! yea he got kicked off the rascal flatts tour for playing too long and too loud. gimme a break what we hear on the radio is not country! eric church is country. that is all
Ward says:
Ryan: I agree with you 100%.
I saw EC twice this past weekend in Oxford and in Starkville on this current Jager Tour with Josh Thompson. Simply awesome as always! Real country and real good times always had by all.
Cristan says:
Eric Church is the most amazing concert I have ever been to. I’ve seen him 5 times and each time is just as incredible. The atmosphere is just like no other. He really gets into his songs and and the lyrics are great!! You can tell he really enjoys getting involved with the crowd and making sure they have an experience of a lifetime. It really is great!!
Jason says:
I wonder where my comment went.
Here, in summary.
EC is the best performer I’ve seen live, ever. It isn’t just EC. The ECB, his band, is the best in the business, hands down.
Maybe someone can explain why my comment was deleted.
Chris says:
EC is the real deal and it sounds like maybe Hotel has been staying in one for a little to long. Can’t wait to join the packed house in Royal Oak in a few weeks to listen to one of the few REAL singer/songwriters that are left in country music. He’s gonna be awesome like always!
Matt says:
Eric Church has some of the best written songs I’ve ever heard. The reason his fans show so much love for him is because of how much his lyrics ring true to anyone. Lost love, good times gone by, or just having fun, EC hits all these subjects outta the ball park. His concert in Oxford was one of the most electrifying and fun concerts I have ever been to. When I listen to an EC song, I can’t help but sing along with him. This happens with other artists too, but something he does that others don’t is every song makes me remember times from my life where I felt the same as what he is singing.
And it doesn’t matter where you’re from, you can still be a country boy at heart.
Kara says:
I became an ECB fan a few years ago when they opened for Brad Paisley. I didn’t know what to expect from them and I was completely blown away!! Eric and the guys give 110% of themselves to their audience/fans before, during and after each performance. I’ve seen them a few times now in different venues and each time the shows are awesome. You have to check them out at least once and I know you’ll be hooked on the energy and music they put out!
bootstompingal says:
Eric Church is the most passionate artist out there! He’s true to his roots from his head to his boots! I’ve seen Eric 14 times (including the Jager tour show I’m attending this Thursday) and he has never ceased to amaze me! He’s the real deal folks. Loud and rowdy and will never disappoint. His music is completely captivating and will leave you wanting more! You will be positively absorbed with the ECB music after you attend just 1 of his shows! Eric has a huge fan base following him everywhere he goes! And I mean they “follow” him all across the country! Including me! I’ve traveled to 4 states now several times just to listen to a couple hours of music. We’re all CRAZY FOR ECB aren’t we!!!
jw says:
Goin to Eric this thursday in Kansas City. Its goin to be awesome. Anyone in this area who hasnt seen him, i suggest u look into it.
Millertime says:
OOPS! My post insulted the almighty Rascal Flatts. That must be why it was deleted…
KC says:
I saw Eric in Morganton, NC (pretty close to home for him) a few years ago when he played at a function help by the school system. Everyone loved him and he put on a great show! I would love to see him come back to that area!
Amanda says:
I love Eric Church. I’ve seen him once in concert and will be seeing him again this month. I’ve got his latest CD in my CD player. I can listen to it all day long and not tire of it. Same for Sinners Like Me. He’s an amazing talent and I am really looking forward to the 21st!
Kelly says:
Before ever seeing Eric Church in concert, all I could do was listen to his music and hope he would come to Ohio… and when he finally did, I was all over it! I saw him twice last year, once at Jamboree in the Hills in Morristown, Ohio and once at Screamin’ Willie’s in Columbus, Ohio. At Screamin’ Willies, he had a broken leg, and it was still the most amazing performance I’ve ever seen. My friends/family and I were right down in front, and I don’t think there was room to fit even one more person in that bar. We all talked after and came to the conclusion that it was the best show he’s ever put on, even with the broken leg. I personally am a die hard Eric Church fan, and when the new album came out last year, I made sure I got it right away. I am glad to know that other people around the country have similar experiences with Eric Church, especially for someone who does this for a living! He is the real deal. He sings about what he knows and loves, and I’ve never listened to an artist I can relate to more. And, of course, he’s drop dead gorgeous to boot.
AK says:
Eric Church is an amazing singer and an even better performer. I saw him in Ogallala, NE last summer and plan to see him two more times this year. He always makes the concert fun and upbeat. I think the reason that people really connect with him is because he actually sings about things people care about and can relate to out in the country. To the everyday country people out there he is that small town guy that knows what country music IS and ALWAYS should be.
Skeeter says:
EC ROCKS!!! I have been a fan of Eric Church since I heard Two Pink Lines… I have followed his music and I love how he has grown as an artist. He is so real and has so much passion in his music. I got tickets to see him in October but he broke his leg, so I waited nearly 6 months to see him from the time I bought my tickets. Let me assure you, it was WELL worth the wait! I saw him in Jacksonville, NC and he ROCKED! I was fortunate enough to get right up front by the stage and sing along with every song. Can’t wait til he comes to Raleigh this summer… but no show will EVER come close to how amazing that one was!
Kristen C says:
I am a huge country music fan and I go to a couple dozen concerts a year but I can say without reservation that Eric Church put on THE best show I’ve ever been to. I saw him in San Miguel, CA at a tiny little venue that was packed well past capacity. We were stuffed in there like sardines but we didn’t care because we were THAT excited to see him. He played a 16 song set (that’s unheard of!) and still came back for a 3 song encore. He ended up singing all but 3 songs off his Sinners Like Me album and 2 off his new one, Carolina. He and his band just rocked out song after song and never even paused to take a break. And to answer your question, yes, we all know every word to every song because we believe what he says and can relate so well to him. He’s what real country music is all about!
MNtwinsFan says:
I’ve seen Eric twice, Once at Country Jam and once at the Northern WI State fair… HE WAS AMAZING. I saw him at Jam 2 years ago when he was still virtually unknown (right after Guys like Me had become a hit) and after 2 songs I was HOOKED. I immediately went and bought the CD and have been a devoted fan ever since. I will be going to see him in Green Bay and in Minneapolis this month and could not be more excited. His passion for what he is doing is palpable and I’ve never left a concert more high on the experience in my life. His band is just as remarkable and deserves as much credit as Eric for making the show unforgettable. He gives you what music should, a good feeling all the way down to your soul, his honesty, warmth and energy make all his songs ones that I know at least I’ll listen to for years to come.
Tampa says:
Alison, my boot was one of the hundred that you counted. Great show!
Jackie says:
Eric Church was BY FAR the BEST concert I ever saw! and would see him over and over again. Amazing lyrics and Singing is hard to come by but eric does it well!
Amanda says:
I’ve been to 3 of his concerts, and want to see many more. Everywhere you go, it’s the same, but if you think that was amazing, try seeing a conert in North Carolina when he sings Carolina. It is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen and heard. All these guys and girls singing, feeling the same, it’s electric.
One of the concerts was in his home town, and it was awsome to see the way he was with the crowd there.
I definately want to see more concerts!!!
Jordan says:
Eric Church is one of the most amazing performers I’ve ever seen! He gets better every time I see him! He is true county music, not like all the fakers out there today. and he is actually talented, unlike all those new acts today!
Misty Davis says:
I saw Eric Church for the first time this past weekend in Oxford, MS. It was awesome. He is a great entertainer and I hope he soon gets the recognition her deserves. His show if full of energy and he really gets into his songs. I can’t wait to see him again!!
Kristen says:
I absolutely LOVE Eric church, I live in NC and have been to shows in Charlotte and Charleston, SC repeatedly, he puts on the most kick-ass energetic shows! I unfortunately got a DWI coming back from one of his concerts :( but his show was AMAZING! Please continue to support him and his music,it has helped me through some rough times.
Marci says:
Eric church is my absolute all time favorite artist! I’ve seen him 3 times and I’m going to see him again later this month. I loved his music before I saw him in concert, but after seeing him live, I fell in love even more! It doesn’t matter if he is playing a small town county fair or a bigger show, he brings the same energy and passion to each performance. He is as real as it gets!!!
Lisa says:
LOVE seeing Eric Church live! We have seen him 4 times, and each time is as good if not better than the last! The Jaeger show was definitely high energy, and so happy to see so many people finding out about him! Just a great rockin’ country show with someone that TOTALLY believes in what he is doing!!!!!
jonny says:
you forgot SEAN PATRICK MCGRAW…WHO OPENED AND ROCKED HARD AT THE SHOW….HE WAS UN BELIEVABLE. I HAVE BEEN LISTENING TO HIS CD EVER SINCE….REALLY THE SHOW STARTED WITH HIM AND TOOK OFF FROM THERE
Millertime says:
I’ll try this again… I’ve seen him NYC twice, the last time in the middle of a blizzard. I met people from PA & NJ who drove in for the show. Both times he had the place packed, with everyone singing along. Alison, by now you can see, this is not an anomoly. He does this everywhere he goes, no matter how big or small the venue. People love Eric & the ECB cause they give it all on stage. They’re real. Did you catch him on CMT Cribs? He drives a beat up Chevy Silverado, like the rest of us. That’s why we relate. That’s why thousands of us will drive hundreds of miles to see him again and again and again…
Jennifer says:
I have been to 3 of Eric’s concerts in the past 8 months. The first time I saw him was in New Albany, Ms. I saw him the 2nd time when he opened for Jason Aldean in Southaven, MS, and I was actually upset when Jason came on cause I didn’t get to hear enough of Eric. The 3rd time I heard him was a few days ago in Oxford,MS with a bunch of college kids from Ole Miss (Hotty Toddy) That was my favorite one yet!I am actually depressed that I won’t be able to see him anymore for the rest of his tour! He is an AWESOME performer because he really gets into his songs! I love his music because it is so down to earth and we can all relate to it!! It’s just FUN to listen to! I wish that I could go to ALL of his shows because each one is different but I know that can’t happen so I guess I will just have to BLAST his music on my CD player, MP3 player, TV, and radio!
Love me some Eric Church!!!!!
Ashley says:
I have been to 2 EC concerts, and they are by far the best 2 concerts I have been to. I love country music, but Eric is the best. His concerts are always amazing! I think it is this way because of all of the energy he puts into them that makes everyone in the crowd react this way! Keep it up Eric! You are amazing!
Jared says:
The ECB is simply the best thing going. Saw them again in Kansas City thursday night. If you haven’t experienced an Eric Church concert you are truly missiing out on the best entertainer in country music. If you are an Eric Church fan you know what I’m talking about. I love country music, and Eric Church and the band are THE BEST at what they do. I’ve been to hundreds of concerts over the years. Eric Church is the only concert that I can’t wait for them to come back to KC. The band has a lifelong fan in me!
Carla says:
Eric rocked in St. Louis. Best concert I’ve ever been too…he did not disappoint this gal. We were all singing along and waving our boots in the air. You just don’t get any better than Eric Church!! If you have not been to a concert, you need to get your ass to one and experience what everyone is talking about. Eric is the real deal folks.
Rachel says:
Eric Church’s songwriting is among the very best, but what really makes it unique is the life and soul he pours into it. A lot of people can write a good song, but to actually put themselves out there– to be that vulnerable– is a rare thing, and that is what makes a truly moving song out of a good song.
“Carolina” gives me goosebumps every time. Once I was playing his CD in the background and someone who didn’t even know who Eric Church was said, “Does this song give you goosebumps, or is it just me?”
Almost every song on that album is like that. And the album before it (Sinners Like Me). Yes, he is that wonderful. See him live and you are supremely spoiled.
Mfquitelikeme says:
hotelmotel, if Church is such a fraud, why don’t we see you on stage performing songs you wrote or co-wrote like Eric does on a nightly basis? I’m so sick of people trying to decide who’s country or even worse, who’s more country than so and so. Some are obvious, is Rascal Flats? Nope, is Aldean? Nope, Taylor Swift is a great talent who was put in a country genre and has spilled over into mainstream. Hate to say it but the days of country gold, as well as rock and roll, are long gone, but once in a great while comes a torch bearer, whose not afraid to step out and say “C’mon boys let’s get real” and give these pop-country flashes in the pan a reality check. So either get up on the stage and do it, or shut your mouth
Steve says:
I watched a few videos and read these reviews so I expected a lot I mean I love the music but saw him at the state fair and felt it was lacking. They had Band Perry open for them and they had a 40 minute break between and pretty sure he played for shorted than the break. Also felt like the didnt even bring a sound guy couldnt even hear him sing. I was very very disappointed I will give hima another shit seeing as I really like the music but I feel like even though it was a small state fair could have atleast played it big. Brooks and Dunn played a night or two before and they rocked the house. I suppose I need to see him at a big venue for him to want to play hard
