Brandi Carlile's "Dreams" Leads to the Opry

Brandi Carlile couldn't contain the big news -- she's been asked to perform on the Grand Ole Opry. She proudly shared the announcement during a sold-out concert in Nashville last night (Feb. 16) and received a standing ovation right in the middle of her show. I've been eagerly following her career for a couple of years, and at every show I've attended, she has talked about how country music has influenced her life, even though her music has more of a rock edge to it. And she never mocks country music's tradition, which I appreciate. Carlile and her mighty cool band filmed an acoustic performance of "Dying Day" at the Nashville show, as well as at the previous night's gig in Charlotte, N.C., to eventually release as a music video. But until that's ready, you can get cozy with one of her newest songs, "Dreams."

I love Brandi’s music. It’s got an authentic country edge to it. I also love the way that her country influences shine through.

I agree with you in saying that she doesn’t mock country’s tradition. In fact, she embraces it, especially with some of the country classics that she’s covered during her concerts.

I had all but given up on today’s music. I was listening to nothing but Pam Tillis, George Strait and Celine Dion. I know what a combination but I can’t stand the music on the radio these days. It’s no longer Country to me it’s Pop wanna be country. Anyway being disgusted as I was I heard a song while watching the Travel Channel and it woke me up and caught my attention right away, it was “Dreams”. Who is that? I’ve never heard that song before! I got on YouTube and searched and found Brandi. I now have re-established hope that an artist can right intelligent lyrics and wonderful music again! I can relate to Brandi’s music, I can understand it and every word she sings! It’s Brandi on the way to and from work and it’s Brandi when working out!! Thank you Brandi for saving me and re-establishing my belief that intelligence still exist in the music world today!! You are my new favorite and I’m sure you will be for a long long time!!
