Sheryl Crow on the Prowl in Cougar Town

Sheryl CrowThank you, Sheryl Crow, for giving me a real legit reason to tune into the much-talked-about new show, Cougar Town. Until now, I've only heard bad things: Courteney Cox plays a divorced woman on the prowl for men and talks incessantly about sex with anyone who will listen, like her neighbor/friend Ellie and her assistant/friend Laurie. (Ellie is the young mom. Laurie is the slut.) Enter the always classy Crow, who will play a recurring romantic rival to Cox' character, Jules. The story is that Jules' mission to hook up with her neighbor Grayson will be thwarted by Crow's arrival. The series is one of those trashy indulgences you wish you didn't like, but you do. And having Crow on a few episodes will make it even more addictive. I can't wait to see if her character will be the girl so perfect you hate her or just another narcissistic cougar out to snag a boy toy.

    Alison,
Don’t know where you get your information but Cougar Town is one of the better comedies on right now. It is not a “trashy indulgence”. That would be something like Desperate Housewives or Grey’s Anatomy which are soap operas. The first episode or so while the series was finding it’s feet were a little all over the place. Since then, it has turned into an ensemble with depth being added to each character. And the characters have become an extended family. Being divorced, I can relate to this show quite a bit and find it quite funny.
So many people read you (and others in the entertainment industry) and take what you say as gospel. Please spend a few minutes doing more than re-treading comments from months ago. I’d hate to see a good show get a bad rap. And if I’m wrong and you’ve been watching, I apologize. If you have, you are certainly allowed your own opinions.

No, it is a trashy show, I think Courtney Cox would admit that herself. I think the main problem with it though is all of the bad acting. This is a show by the guy who created “Scrubs”, so it’s that kind of over the top weirdness with what some of the characters say.

I also can’t stand that one of the women from Scrubs is also in this playing Courtney’s best friend and neighbor. But maybe Sheryl Crow will class up the place, I’ll probably watch just to see her since I watch “Modern Family” that is on right before. That’s a really good show.

I agree that Crow’s appearance on the show will be a good addition, but I do not agree that the show is trashy. It is one of the better comedies on TV right now. There may be a lot of “sex” talk in it, but if you really think about it, sex is everywhere anyways and everyone can relate to it. There is no crude sex talk, just humorous banter now and then. The characters are lovable and seem more “real” than most characters on other shows. Watching this show can put a smile on my face no matter how bad of a day I have had.
