Kellie Pickler's Voice Shines in Studio 330 Sessions

Posted: February 9th, 2010 at 4:18 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Kellie PicklerFor years, I thought Kellie Pickler's big personality kind of overshadowed her big powerful voice. But on this performance of CMT's Studio 330 Sessions, she put that big personality on the back burner for a while so that her vocals can be the star. She sings her heart and soul out on "Makin' Me Fall in Love Again" (which she says is about the good side of love), then "Didn't You Know How Much I Loved You" and "Best Days of Your Life" (the one she says she wrote with Taylor Swift while they were touring with Brad Paisley). Then she does "Don't Close Your Eyes" from her all-time favorite classic country singer Keith Whitley. She sounds phenomenal on each one. But she does let her quirky side come out a little in the interview at the end when she talks about her first cassette tape (George Strait) and her current cell phone ring tone (Hank Williams' "My Bucket's Got a Hole in It"). Her best anecdote is about her first concert at 16. She and a friend drove to Charlotte, N.C., to see Kenny Chesney and decorated a Honda to say, "Honk if you love Kenny Chesney." I've seen hundred of cars like that in concert parking lots, so it's funny to think that just about seven years ago, that could have been Pickler's.

Echo your comments in your blog. Kellie is coming into her own as a country artist. The quirky side of her personality adds to charm, but does not take away from her talent. Looking forward to more of Kellie in the years to come. Her voice is like fine wine…better with aging
    All the best!

Love Kellie, but you’re right, her great vocals tend to play second fiddle to her charming, and yes, quirky personality.

Wouldn’t know, as a female, that’s not why I like her.

Yes,Kellie pickler,s big powerful voice does shine in studio 330. I love all of these songs that she sings, but I would have too say that,Don,t close your eyes, that she sings by Keith Whitley,I think is by far her very best. She just sings it with such a powerfull voice. I would just love too see her make a video from this one. I just love Kellie Pickler!!!!

This blows me away and I agree that she sounds phenomenal on every song. She was born to sing and I’d love to hear her songs on radio more.

Kellie Pickler is my all time favorite country singer. I always knew she had a beautiful and powerful voice right from the first time i saw her audition on Idol! These sessions prove, beyond all doubt, that she sings traditional country music better than any other female, in my opinion! With the proper promotion, I believe she can be a real shining star. WE do need to hear her more on the radio!

Now this is how to sing! Kellie’s vocal and delivery on Don’t Close Your Eyes is so good she melted my heart and made me cry. She schooled everyone on how to sing classics and it’s a #1 hit for sure. She has the entire package, great singer, songwriter, looks, personality, heart, soul, spirit, and attitude! She’s the future of country music and a superstar in the making. CMT you need to put these studio sessions on TV! We want more music shows!

Kellie is one of my favourite country singers EVER! I love her personality, it’s so infectious - it always brings a smile to my face. She reminds me of Dolly Parton in the sense that she can be fun and ditzy, but then do a serious song and bring a tear to your eye.

I love her voice and I think both her albums are great! I wish her all the luck in the world and I hope she keeps having hits for years to come.

When I saw Kellie’s audition on AI, I knew she would go to the top. She is one of the best singers of all times, and as it’s been said many times before, she has the whole package. If she could get proper promotion, she would have many more hits. Hopefully her producers will get on the ball or she will get new ones soon. Goooooooo, Kellie! I’m very proud of what you’ve accomplished in four years.

I love her and I don’t understand why cmt does her the way they do. They took her off the list when her song went under the top 20 but so did Talyor’s but they left hers on. I just don’t understand. She deserves better from them.
