The Lambert Fashion Debate: Miranda vs. Adam
Well, well, well. Isn't this the pot calling the kettle black? Adam Lambert fuses a Western string tie and sparkly jacket at the Grammys and that somehow gives him the authority to name the best and worst fashion moments at the show? ET apparently thought so when they gave him the microphone to cover the red carpet. He had faves: Pink, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Fergie and Rihanna. But then he had a few he didn't like, too, such as Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert. He named Miranda the worst dressed, calling her dress "Little Mermaid meets Bed Bath and Beyond." He added, "It looked like a prom dress you'd buy at the mall." I personally thought Miranda looked head-to-toe gorgeous, so I'd like to give country fans the opportunity to weigh in on her outfit. And his, if you'd like. Go for it, readers.

me says:
i think it’s pretty except for the excessive ruffles. and who gives a flying fig what “Glambert” thinks!
Cowgirl Up says:
I thought both her and Carrie looked absolutely gorgeous and Adam Lambert isn’t exactly what I’d call a fashion expert.
JanB says:
The dress was pretty, but certainly not flattering. I don’t think she’s as thick as she looked in the waist and hips. She should certainly get a refund from her stylist.
tk says:
Adam looked FANTASTIC and he was absolutely correct about Miranda’s dress…it looked like a prom dress…A BAD PROM DRESS…she didn’t look comfortable at all(she looked OLD and FRUMPY)!! Adam’s outfit fit the mood of the Grammys…FUN!! He even joked about it! Get a life Adam haters.
Melissa says:
I wore a dress very, very similar to my prom in 2001, except mine was a darker blue. So, it wasn’t incorrect to describe it as looking like a prom dress.
Sarah says:
I didn’t think Miranda’s dress was that bad, but then again everyone looked really beautiful, so he had to pick someone. I thought Adam looked great..stood out as usual.
Veeta says:
Ahahaha I love you Adam. He not only bashed Miranda’s dress, he also said Carrie Underwood’s dress was one of the worst of the night.
I also love him because he had Taylor Swift on his best dressed list and called her sophisticated, classy and elegant. You go Adam!
Miss Kay says:
I have to say that Adam was right on this one. Carrie’s dress just had something wrong with the fit — and shame on her stylist for letting that happen! [Very rare for Carrie so my guess is that she may have been too busy for a proper fitting.]
And Miranda really would have looked much better in a different dress. This one is too tight across her hips and the ruffles and the diagonal swirl make her look heavier. She really is attractive and this was just not a great look for her. Something with a simpler line, and loose drape would have been much more flattering. And this is the Grammys — a little bit of risk wouldn’t hurt!
Overall my over criticism of Adam as a fashion critic is that he was just too nice. But I give him credit for not putting Lady Gaga on his “Best Dressed List”!
Denise says:
Adam was right on with miranda’s dress!! I would take fashion advice from Adam any time any where!! Adam looked GREAT as usual!! ET would not have given him this position if they didn’t trust him and think that his fasion sense was something to be shared!! ET, I applaud you for your choice in Adam!! Thank you Adam for your WORK!!!
Vicky says:
Adam Lambert has a great sense of style and fashion. He’s right. That looks like a bad prom dress. It’s an unfortunate choice but it’s not the end of the world. There’s no need for anyone to get their blood pressure raised over this.
Cynthia says:
Sorry to disappoint you, but Glambert was dead-on with his critiques!
De says:
I agree with Adam,Miranda’s dress was not flattering at all. Sorry, but the truth hurts. As for Adam and his fashion sense, I would go shopping with him anyday. How much fun would that be :)
Peggy says:
Adam made the predictions correct…this doesn’t mean they don’t look good it is not the dress for them and usually Carrie is dressed beautiful and I love her but this time she got it wrong….and he was right about Taylor Swift…Adam looked great and right on….He wasn’t the only one who said the dress did not look great on Miranda and she is beautiful….Look at Taylor and at the other 2, not for them
slyya says:
all of you are insane. adam has great fashion sense. and this looked terrible on her, really, she couldn’t find anything better? adam looked great, this little lady doesn’t look so little in this dress. adam is smart with fashion and he was right about everyone EXCEPT taylor swift looked…ehhh. i hate her, and that dress made her look a little too old. goooo ADAM!! :D
Green says:
Lambert is one of my favorite performers but her stylist did her no favors with that dress. It’s just not a good style from the ruffles to the emphasis on the upper arms.
Faye says:
Miranda looked very pretty at the Grammys especially considering she is not usually dressed like a barbie doll such as Carrie and Taylor. Yeah, maybe the dress was not quite the right dress for her but I still thought she looked classy and beautiful in it! Adam Lambert might have a great voice but he has no great fashion sense, unless you consider freaky outfits he likes such as Lady Gaga as great fashion. I know I don’t! So where does he get off even trying to critique anyone on the red carpet….give me a break….just stick to what you do best Adam and that is sing! Next time Entertainment Tonight should stick with having a “real” fashion expert give their opinion!
Judi says:
Miranda and Carrie are both beautiful ladies, but their dresses were not the most flattering. I think Adam was very honest and correct with his critique. I remember thinking that Miranda’s dress was a wrong choice when she was shown on stage that night, before Adam’s opinion was announced.
Pam says:
Who cares what Adam thinks? I don’t!
Loved the dress and LOVE Miranda!
Jean says:
I thought Adam was dead on…Both women are lovely but should rethink their stylists…M’s dress was a horrible color, way too much fabric and did not flatter her at all. C’s posture need to improve for one thing. If she is feeling the “bride” thing there are so many other designs she could have chosen. Adam was campy and fun and as always a fashionista…He knows it and STRUTS it!!
ac says:
This is not the first time the ladies will be on a best or worst dressed list. Sometimes it happens at the same event. Adam was hired by ET, not by you, so they trusted his judgement. Just his opinion and no need to try to make a big deal out of it. Both ladies are beautiful but the dresses not no much.
Teta says:
Gambert was spot on, and the sexiest, sharpest dresser at the event. As usual. Loved the Colonel Sanders tie. Who else could rock it?
katie says:
no sorry but Taylor swifts dress made her look so fat…and we all know she’s not
lis says:
who cares.. Adam Lambert is nothing compare to those two, haha
judith says:
I’m not a country fan, but I am a fashion fan! Wow, you hit it right on critiquing Adam Lambert’s own outfit! I didn’t care for the clash of the Western/LasVegas style mix. I think his view of Carrie’s white dress was right on - she’s beautiful, but the white dress wasn’t flattering to her tiny frame with the poor fitting and the strange leather(?) accent straps. Those straps were really distracting. I loved the gold dress she wore for the Jackson tribute. I think he was right on with Miranda’s dress, as well, as it wasn’t very flattering to her curvaceous figure. Too much ruffly poof and the color, wide horizontal stripes and hugging style made her look huge. I disagree with some of Adam’s selections for the best dressed…he tended to favor his friends. His critique ignored quite a few people who were stunning, but I also don’t know who didn’t stop to visit with him either.
Jo says:
I have to defend my country girls. I guess Adam didn’t see what Britney Spears was wearing or Imogen Heap. Miranda’s dress wasn’t very flattering for her, but she was far from the worst dressed. Also Carrie was chosen along with Taylor as the best dressed by the E! Network’s panel. All four on the panel said Adam was one of the worst. I think they said he looked like a gay Colonel Sanders. I see that the Adam fans have invaded this blog. Who knew Adam’s fans were country fans.
Adam Addict says:
Adam is always honest, and I have to say he was spot on. Carrie’s dress was off-kilter. She must have had better choices. Miranda’s was really tacky looking. Adam of course rocks in whatever he wears! Anyway, I think country singers usually look tacky anyway. Those country-bumpkin folks can never match the sophistication of NYC and LA, the forefront of fashion.
adam lover says:
i think that miranda’s dress makes her look alittle fat, but i think carrie underwood looked beautiful, cut adam a break, this was his first time on the red carpet at the grammy’s he’ll learn with time.
Smiley says:
Adam was right. Carrie and Miranda had 2 of the worst dresses on the red carpet, no doubt about it. He was also right about Taylor. She was one of the best dressed women of the night. She’s o young but she alwyas know how to make a statement with her clothes. Adam is hot, I don’t care if he’s gay. He looked great!
SJB says:
Who gives a flying flip what that he/she/it thinks about ANYONE in country music? I’m sure Miranda’s heart is just breaking over what he thinks of her attire. NOT.
JESS (ADAM ROCKS) says:
seriously..whoever wrote this article is either a HUGE Miranda Lambert fan or is in denial! the dress in hideous and unflattering (come on…it has like blue glitter on it)and Adam just happens to be one of the sexiest most stylish men i’ve ever seen! He looked DAAAMMMN FINE!
Katie says:
Well I think she looked fine, but I suppose the dress could’ve been a little less frilly at the bottom. But I think Adam was just trying a bit too hard to be funny, because I don’t think it’s all that big a deal. There are like 60 blogs and tv shows and whatnot that all rate the best/worst dressed and they all have different opinions, so really what they say doesn’t matter.
Lauren says:
I think the dress looks horrible. It doesn’t fit or flatter her at all. I love Miranda to death & think she’s an amazing artist, but I have to agree that the dress was not good. However, I don’t know who qualified Adam as a fashionista, but that is a whole other discussion. If the question was “is his opinion correct?” then yes, but if it is whether he’s qualified to judge, then no.
musicaljustice says:
Not a flattering dress. Pretty color but that’s about all I can say for it. Adam is one of MANY that remark on best and worst dress at these things and it is ridiculous to make it a personal slam.
KCchaser says:
She has worn better dresses and outfits but really it wasn’t the worst I have ever seen, but then again its wasn’t the best either but to make the worst dress list sucks by all means but really who gives a rats A@@ what he thinks anyway. He isn’t always dressed well either
Christina says:
I actually agreed with Adam… I thought the color was nice on her, but I thought the dress wasn’t very flattering on the red carpet or even standing on stage… Sorry.
Mel says:
Adam Lambert dishing on the best/worst dressed? That’s like asking Lady GaGa her opinion of haute couture.
Gal says:
I love both Miranda and Adam. I actually loved the color, and didn’t think it was that bad, but I do think she would have looked stunning in something else. Miranda is a beautiful young lady and in some ways the dress does look a little “older” for her.
Lauren says:
I think the dress looks horrible. It doesn’t fit or flatter her at all. I love her to death and am a huge fan of her music, but I have to agree that the dress was NOT a good choice. I also love the fact that she isn’t as stick thin as many other women, but there could have been a better choice. However, I do not know who qualified Adam as a fashion expert, but that is a whole other question. If the question was “is his opinion correct?” then yes, I have to agree. If the question is whether he is qualified to judge and comment, then no.
Reining Ladies says:
I am a country music fan and I will back any country music artist. When was the last time half of these people put on a formal dress and made an appearance any where. It’s easy to judge. Every star has a good wardrobe days and bad. Who cares… Tomorrow Miranda is going to go out and wow the crowd like she always does. Which I am sure is her real goal. As for Adam… well he can go to h e double hockey sticks…
Tami Bennett says:
Adam called it right. The color is gorgeous but the cut and design is not flattering. It was poorly designed for her figure. That horizontal striped made her look a bit more fat than curvacious. Adam needs to lose the KFC tie. Loved his suit, pants and boots.
bkbs says:
lambert is the guy that the fashion police put on the worst dress list and he has the nerve to say something about mirand’s dress.
lola says:
adam was hired by ET and needed to do his job he gave his honest opinion whether you like it or not.
Lisa says:
Not a country fan, I am an Adam fan. Adam has a remarkable sense of style. He always looks fantastic walking the red carpet or the streets. GORGEOUS HEAD TO TOE. The dress just looked bad and not sure how big she is but this was a big blue mess.
countrybert says:
I love country and I love Adam Lambert. He had to pick his best dressed and worst dressed. He was not the only critic that felt Miranda’s dress looked like a prom dress. Carrie Ann Inaba (judge from Dancing With The Stars) and a panel thought she was one the worst too. They thought Carrie’s dress didn’t fit well (just as Adam said) and they didn’t like Adam’s outfit either. So he got criticized too. I feel he wore a country tie with an LA coat to be fair to all, and then he took some hits for it too. It’s the price the stars pay and they know this and shouldn’t take it to heart. The Grammys are over. Lets move on.
MirandaFan says:
It’s his OPINION, which doesn’t amount to anything. Who really cares what he or anybody else thinks of her dress? Me and millions of other people sure don’t. If she loved it, that’s all that truly matters.
Justin says:
Miranda’s dress isn’t that bad—she was one of the few women at the event that didn’t dress like a complete slut, so that’s a big plus.
As for Adam Lambert, the dude spends more on cosmetics than any woman in country music. That either makes him the most or least qualified person alive to critique women’s clothes, I’m just not sure which.
marilyn says:
I thought Adams comments were fairly lame; he over-used the words “pretty” and “beautiful” in describing how the women looked. Once he said something was “sparkly” and that he liked sparkle and pointed to his own sparkles.
I really didn’t enjoy his interviewing the women. He needs to expand his vocabulary when telling the lady’s what he thinks they look like.
I also vote no on his high-stacked hair and I’ve seen him look better in other outfits. He needs to get back to singing. The girls looked gorgeous. Maybe he was jealous?
Brenda says:
Adam was right on! And, I love Miranda. But when she walked out on stage my first thought was ‘oh no, Miranda, what are you wearing?’ She’s such a beautiful woman and that dress was not flattering on her. I’m crazy about Adam and he did the ET gig because it was something he thought would be fun - he loves music and fashion. He had fun with it, he wasn’t really mean to anybody (compared to many other fashion critics) and it was all just in fun. Miranda even tweeted she still loves him. She gets that it’s really no big deal.
jen says:
Adam lambert has adamazing fashion sense and makes all the fashion mags best dressed lists, plus charisma oozing out of him, so no wonder ET chose him to do the red carpet. he was very mild on the criticism, since he’s such a nice guy, but he was spot on with both these critiques. i knew something was off with carries gown and miranda’s was more like little mermaid meets a bad thrift shop.
Cynthia says:
Aren’t you all butthurt. He had his opinion. He said it. Deal with it. Why has this been blown into something so huge? Adam was very good-natured about it, too. He didn’t get all catty and mean. =\
sarah says:
I hate to say this but Mr Lambert is right. Miranda looked horrible in that dress, very old style and very cheap. this dress is like from 1980’s prom. I love Miranda though, very sweet lady.
beatka says:
Adam was absolutely right… prior to Grammys he said he was not going to be mean… I think that he was quite a Gentleman the way he described the dress.. I would not be so gentle… the dress was atrocious, it make her look fat… so Adam was very nice to her… he even added that she has a great last name.
Adam on the other hand, looked awesome… he knows how to mix and match… Gorgeous, gorgeous Adam
sue says:
Miranda should have shopped with another country girl - Taylor. Miranda is pretty by the dress was not.
Adam L. was really accurate.
,marge says:
if your a adam fan,and not a counrty fan leave please..do u not notice who this website is for
Kareen says:
I thought that Adam has a fantastic eye for fashion and what looks good on a woman. I agreed with him on every one.
coloforadam says:
I hope he never again puts himself in this kind of position. He is just NOT good at critizing others, not in his nature - much better at finding talent and beauty and expounding on that as he does in every other interview I have ever heard from him. Like he said, he does not watch the early Idol shows because they are so critical and insulting and that is too painful to watch. Then, he goes and agrees to do this. Oh well, we all have reasons for doing stuff….hope they paid him well!
beatka says:
@marge
oh… so now we google “adam” this page pops up… and there are people bashing Adam, and we are not able to defend him, or express our opinion…we suppose to leave
marge were you born yesterday… it doesn’t work like this sweety…or perhaps maybe you should leave… I think you are one of those haters of Adam that would go on purpose to every thread that brings up Adam’s name and bash him…
get a live
Tony says:
Adam was entirely correct.
Ernie says:
Fruitboy Adam and his craterface can go take a flying leap.
Anyway, these ‘Best and Worst’ dressed things are nothing but a farce. These artists will wear these outfits for a single night, then if they grab the attention of some moron at a tabloid or other entertainment entity, their sole opinion can linger for weeks.
Personally I thought Carrie looked great as always. The color of Miranda’s dress was a bit odd, but the style was ok aside from the single-strap design. At least neither of them showed up wearing some strange object on their head or was pointlessly carrying around a weird looking pointy object like Lady Gaga.
D J says:
I doubt anyone will lose any sleep over what Adam Lambert thinks. I doubt anyone really cares…I know I don’t. What happened to Cujo? At least, he knows fashion.
beth from texas says:
Adam knows fashion and he was right on about Miranda Lambert. C’mon people, would YOU wear that dress to the Grammys???? I didn’t think so. And as far as your Glambert remarks … you must be jealous … ADAM ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!
beth from texas says:
Adam knows fashion! As far as Miranda Lambert’s outfit goes … would YOU wear that to the Grammys? I didn’t think so. And as far as your “Glambert” remarks … ADAM ROCKS!!!!!
Anne says:
Adam’s critique was professional and dead on. He actually was giving constructive criticism and just like Simon Cowell is with judging music. Critiques can’t please everyone. However, everyone is entitiled to their opinion. Name calling is really not necessary.
youngster says:
Wow! CMT or Alison, why did you take my earlier comment off your list? I said nothing that shouldn’t be read by this group of people. You proved my point more than I realized when I wrote it. I said nothing negative about Miranda or Adam. This isn’t right and you know it.
Laura Ann says:
There is just no nice way to say this — Miranda Lambert just looked terrible! I could certainly find a better dress for her at my local mall. Not flattering at all, and she really deserved to look great since she was nominated for a Grammy. And, frankly, I am not a fan of Adam’s music but thought he did a good job as a red carpet fashion correspondent.
Babs says:
I guess Miranda’s look is kind of ‘Country Chic’? I don’t know. It reminds me more of Carmen Miranda minus the fruit basket head-dress. I was thinking that the only thing missing from Miranda’s look is a pair of castanets? Ya think? Kind of a flamenco look. It looks more like a formal denim-ish look. Oh well. Adam looked glamtastic. he was so clever on the carpet and I loved and agreed with all of his comments. Not bad for a novice. WTG Adam!
Babs says:
BTW, I didn’t like Carrie Underpants look at all. I just wish the straps were even. It could have been nice. The geometric look on such fine and delicate fabric looked too awkward.
Samantha says:
I am sorry. Adam did not look good at all himself. Men should not wear eyeliner, sorry. Who cares if Miranda’s dress looked prom like. As long she is comfortable. I thought she looked beautiful. Whatever we all have different tastes and Adam is freaking annoying.
Share says:
Sorry, but I think the great Glambini was right on this one. Just so you know, Miranda tweeted Adam that she still loved him and his eyeliner, lol.
also, Carrie’s dress was pretty, just not for her stature, I think u need to be a little bustier too, sorry :)
Sarahw says:
Ummmm, is it a joke that you’re posting that picture of Miranda while exlaiming she looked great? I think Miranda is a lovely girl who can definitely sing… but Adam was right on this one. Sorry.
LuvMiranda says:
Stirring the pot, are we? Miranda didn’t seem to mind the critique (didn’t you “hear” about her tweet? Gotta love that girl. Great sense of humor, BTW). So, tell me, why the ruffled feathers? I don’t understand. It’s shockingly popular to trash Adam Lambert, ‘aint it? Garners hit at a rapid rate and it’s always fun to play with the popular crowd. Only, after a while it doesn’t look or feel so good, as tides do have a way of changing. Ya know what I mean.
LuvMiranda says:
Love this blog, by the way. I just don’t happen to agree with you this time and hope I didn’t come across as rude.
LuvMiranda says:
I just read my comments above. They do come across as rude and I am sorry for it. Miranda is so nice, and took the whole thin so well, ya know? I guess read your article the wrong way. I do not think you are trying to star a fan war or anything.
CAgirl says:
Wow, can’t believe how serious so many are taking a persons outfit and some kids opinion on fashion, which he has no sense of himself. Seriously, who honestly cares about what somebody wore at an awards show? Good grief, it’s just a dress people.
tom says:
What Prom did Adam Lambert go to. Obviouvsly, his taste in clothing is a little different than most Americans. As form Miranda, I don’t think it was the perfect dress for her build-would be better on a skinnier gal-but bashing her was off base.
Mei says:
I agree that Carrie’s dress didnt fit her all that well. And Miranda’s had i nice colour but everything else was wrong with it. She looked really thick in it. Glambert isn’t wrong.
Aaron says:
Miranda will never make it in country music looking like that. She’s way too heavy to be part of pop culture(especially country). A few more hamburgers and she’ll look more like Jack Lambert.
Kate says:
Adam was correct! Carrie’s dress looked like drapes on her small frame. Miranda’s dress looked like a bed spread and her weight is an issue. No one over 110lbs should be wearing a tight mermaid style dress. Both women have pretty faces but those were also the wrong colors as well.
Carrie should have gone with something short but in a popped out color, it would make her look taller. Miranda should have worn black or navey with accents above her waist to draw the eye up–not to her hips. Obviously, these two women did not have stylist helping them.
trac says:
I would not call Adam dam fine, but I agree that Miranda should have chosen another dress. Mermaidy/prom. Pretty color though.
SBart says:
Miranda said she picked the dress and she loved it. Nothing else really matters. Carrie looked beautiful and she got nice comments from the entertainment shows and some not so nice. She looked happy. I do think there were other people who looked a lot worse than Miranda and Carrie but to each his own opinion. Adam isn’t doing well in the music end of the business so he had to get another fifteen minutes. Whatever! Shame on ET for giving it to him.
Robin says:
I find it interesting that tons of new posters that never post on these boards are posting kudos to Adam. They google Adam and found this blog and posted so it’s not (for the most part), the regular CMT crowd so I’d take the Adam support with a grain of salt.
Dean says:
You find that interesting? Doesn’t surprise me. You find Taylor Swift interesting too.
Timmy says:
Rumor has it Adam singled out Carrie and Miranda to trash because, “a certain cmt blogger who’s name I don’t recall trashed me on the cmt blogsite after my performance on the AMA’s. Just remember all you country hicks, paybacks are a ^^^^^!”
Francesca says:
Give me a break, adam Glambert should only be talking fashion if it is halloween or goth. Really, he has no credentials for discussing women and fashion.
Miranda is beautiful and talented and will be around a lot longer than Mr. black nail polish.
Robin says:
Lot’s of things are interesting Dean. Lot’s of things.
CiCi says:
Unfortunately, I have to agree with Adam. Way before his critique, I thought the same thing about Miranda’s dress. It just wasn’t red carpet worthy or very flattering, and she is a lovely girl. Please bear in mind that Adam Lambert in no way attacked her personally, or was insulting to her like some other red carpet critics do. He simply didn’t like the dress and criticized it, and I’m with him on his assessment. Love Miranda, though. Everyone wears a clinker sometimes.
draya says:
hey, i love country music and i still thought adam was right about the dresses. he’s adorable and has a voice that sends chills down my spine. his outfits are always gorgeous! he’s a showman all the way. i don’t think you have to be rock and roll, or pop to appreciate that guy’s talent. that purple mermaid dress was not complimentary nor was carrie underwoods weird dress. and taylor did not look fat, are you blind?
Beauty says:
I’m sorry, but gotta agree with Adam Lambert on this one! Miranda’s dress just left her looking out-of-date, frumpy, cheap (price, quality, craftmanship & taste) and common (typical mall fare) - and the onlookers uninspired! Just generally an unflattering look all around. It just didn’t live up to the Grammy glitz, daring edginess and sophistication. She most definitely could have done better.
As for Carrie, I think Adam said it necessarily wasn’t her dress, but more the fit that made the overall look “not right”, and therefore unflatering. I believe he DID like the dress though, just not the way it fit Carrie. Perhaps Carrie had a rushed or nonexistent fitting for the garment? Who knows…..
Anyway, he was DEFINITELY spot on about Taylor Swift! That dress was ABSOLUTELY STUNNING on her!
Carole says:
My first reaction on seeing Miranda Lambert at the Grammy’s, long before hearing Adam Lambert’s comment, was “Beautiful colour, dreadful dress”. I’m no Adam Lambert fan but he was spot on in my opinion as he was about Taylor Swift’s stunnning dress.
glambert3210 says:
This dress might have “passed” (though barely) if someone weighing 90 pounds had worn it. I think Adam was correct - the dress does absolutely NOTHING for Miranda.
Frangle says:
Adam Lambert looked appropriately dressed yet with a touch of difference, as he usually does.
Sorry that he didn’t like your girl’s excuse for a dress, blogger. Hardly surprising. Next time, she may try not taking her inspiration from her grandmother’s lampshade.
Clearly taste and style doesn’t automatically go with the name.
Taylor Swift looked beautiful, along with Katy Perry and Fergie.
Roseanna says:
Sorry Miranda, you are a beautiful girl and I like your music, but Adam was right about your dress. You can do better than this dress.
Robin says:
Katy Perry looked horrible.
Anita says:
I hate that every blog turns into a personal criticism. This was only about the dress, people. Miranda is a good singer and so is Adam - different genres. Adam did a good job for his first time critiquing on the red carpet and he had to choose someone. Miranda’s dress was not good for her - made her look heavier and kind of old fashioned. I also did not like Adam’s country tie with the shiny jacket - looked too Las Vegas. There is a way to criticize the outfit without criticizing the person. PLEASE DON’T CRITICIZE EITHER OF THESE PEOPLE. THEY BOTH WORK HARD AT THEIR CAREERS. Thanks.
Rose says:
I’m not a Lambert fan, but judging from the picture above, I have to agree. She’s a lovely-looking woman, but that dress is all wrong…
Rose says:
Judging solely from the picture above, I have to agree with the critic given. She’s a lovely-looking woman, but that dress is all wrong… I haven’t seen Adam Lambert’s outfit, but he AIMS at outrageous - I will assume Miranda Lambert doesn’t.
Stacy says:
Rose and others, it’s been explained why he did it. Pay attention.
Mary says:
I have to agree with most here, Miranda is a lovely girl and singer, however, this dress does absolutely nothing for her and isn’t very flattering. Hopefully, next time she will choose a little wiser!
Kim F. says:
Miss Leg of Lambert!!!!!LOL!!! That’s funny!
Andrea says:
I agree. Miranda needs to lay of the BBQ and beer. She’s huge!
CD says:
Hmm.. Smart post. Anything connected with Adam will get tremendous hits.
The blogger here is purely trying to pick up fights(bitchy) —– but please take a good look, he actually gave Taylor Swift very high praises. Isn’t Taylor a country singer????!!! I also remembered he joked about Miranda having a great last name, lol
I love Miranda’s music but personally I don’t like this dress. Carrie’s dress looks common but not too bad. Voicing different opinions is always okay. But if you’re too stupid to be used by the writer, too bad for you yourself.
toph says:
personally i don’t think the dress suited her
Tori says:
I didn’t agree with everything Adam Lambert said (I think Rihanna looked beautiful despite her dress, not because of it) but he was right about this dress. It wouldn’t flatter anybody.
And I’ll admit that Adam Lambert’s sense of style might not be to everybody’s taste, but I really enjoy his outrageous fashion sense. I think he usually achieves the look he’s going for, and I don’t think Miranda Lambert did in this case.
BTW, if I were going to blog about Grammy fashion commentary, I’d probably at least be sure I knew how to spell all the artists’ names.
Peacock Queen says:
Miranda has a very curvacious figure, like Fergie and Heidi Klum. Miranda needs to consult with their designers/stylists in the future. This dress doesn’t flatter Miranda’s figure type. Also, she is not fat. Stream her video “Kerosene” and you will see she has a knock-out body. This dress just doesn’t do her justice.
Carrie’s dress was not cut correctly on the bias at the top, which is why the geometric shapes were flopping. Blame that on the designer, not the wearer.
The artists generally respect each other a whole lot more than the fans do. I doubt Adam Lambert “singled” out any one with a dubious intent in order to get back at a blogger here on CMT. That just isn’t Adam’s style.
Steeler’s Carol says:
Actually Adam put Miranda on the map, never heard of her until he commented on her dress. she is beautiful as is Carrie Underwood, but their dresses did not accentuate their figures. For some reason this is a fashion year and Miranda lacked big time. Beautiful face but the dress was yuk and the color of yuk stickers.
Robin says:
Jennifer - make that comment about Jennifer Hudson and see where it gets you. Or are you just a racist? I guarantee that Miranda is no bigger than Hudson.
Steeler’s Carol - country fans know who Miranda is so why is Adam doing her a favor by pulling the attention of non-country fans that wouldn’t buy her music anyway? She doesn’t sing contemporary country music. She sings new traditional country with hints of contemporary once in a blue moon - and they are just hints.
Deb says:
I agree with Adam on Miranda’s dress, and I have seen Carrie Underwood with better dresses. He did comment that Carrie is a “beauitiful girl”. Adam did not connect his fashion comments with the levels of these performers talent in any way, shape, or form, thought he looked fabulously interesting as usual, never no what to expect from Adam in the dress and hair style dept, except that it will always be interesting and different.
Brooke says:
Who cares about what Adam Lambert says, Miranda is way better than him in every way and always will be.
Jenny 555 says:
Adam and Miranda share the same last name! I think they are both very different, yet very talented singers. That being said, Adam really was right, wasn’t he? The dress was not good. Adam has been critisied incessantly, and very harshy, I might add, for everything! So Miranda had a dress that was a fail. Big deal. Adam did his job and wasn’t mean to Miranda, personally. Do you know how often Adam has been dissed over his wardrobe choices!!! Too many times to count! He can’t take it personally or he’d be insane by now. Miranda needs to employ a sylist for the big events. No biggie. She is a very beautiful girl.
flower says:
adam was 100% right!!!! cu dress looked like she took a nightgown and put weird stars on it, it was just strange! miranda could have worn something that was not so promish but I loved the color!! taylor by far was the best dressed and they picked taylor best dressed on every fashion show after the grammy’s!!!!!!!!
Redmaz says:
To Robin, you say Lambert doesn’t sing “Contemporary Country” would that be Contemporary Pop Country or Contemporary Roots Country? You also said she sings “New traditional with hints of contemporary once in a blue moon. Again…I need to ask would that be New Traditional Pop Country or new Traditional Roots Country. Please specify, because as of now you make no sense. Clarification please, thank you.
Robin says:
Redmaz - Does this have to be explained to you in every blog?
Ok - it must. Miranda sings in the pop country industry and she sings the New Traditional sub-genre of the country genre. Although she does have “moments” in songs that “sound” like the contemporary country sub-genre. Her music as a whole sits in the “New Traditional” sub-genre of country music and she sits pretty squarely in the pop country industry. Although, I’m sure she’d be happy as a roots artist as well. I’m sure that it is the fact that she sits in the pop country industry that her music sometimes has “moments” that “sound” contemporary country.
Yaahoos says:
Like Adam has any style…….hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahaahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahah
Redmaz says:
No…it doesn’t have to be explained to me, because I know basic music fundamentals. It just has to be explained.(period). Next time say what you mean or I will. I hope you understand. I’m a music advocate. It’s what I do whether you like it or not.
Robin says:
It doesn’t “have to be explained” unless I choose to explain it. I choose to take your bait so clearly your tactics work, BUT this is a pop country blog and clarifying what industry Miranda participates in is not necessary in my eyes to this conversation. And, since it’s me speaking an all.. But feel free to explain it yourself everywhere you go.
Dakota Collins` says:
I straddle rock, pop, and country pretty successfully and am a huge Adam Lambert fan…….. as well as Tim McGraw, Montgomery Gentry, Kenny Chesney, Aerosmith, you get the picture. When I saw Miranda arriving, I wasn’t crazy about her dress. When I saw Adam arriving I loved everything but the tie. We are used to seeing Adam push the limit on clothes so it’s just fun to us. We feel free to comment on hair, emo? Elvis? and the eye makeup, stage?
interview? roll out of bed and just rub what’s there from night before? He is the sweetest guy in the world and would never hurt anyone’s feelings intentionally, but it was his job to choose best and worst. He did, it was cute, and if he runs into Miranda somewhere, he will hug her and apologize because that is who he is. Even KFC twittered to ask if he got the Colonel’s tie and the next morning he tweeted that he was crazing KFC when he woke up. Again, we all, as well as Adam, just want to remind y’all, it’s just FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT and, “It ain’t that deep.”
Redmaz says:
This isn’t a Pop Country blog. It a blog about the fashions concerning the Grammys. YOU are the one who brought up the whole Contemporary/Traditional Country thing.
To Dakota Collins, you seem to be a bit confused as to what Pop Music is. Pop is an industry consisting of many genres of music including Country and Rock(and more). Everyone you mentioned are Pop acts. Some are Pop Country, some Pop Rock, but it’s all Pop music. None of the people you mentioned are recognized in the Americana/Roots industry.
terie says:
@DakotaCollins: Well said! I too am a music buff & have followed all genres throughout my life (not rap). I fail to see what ‘COUNTRY’ has to do with ADAM’s comments/critique of these two dresses/gowns. He didn’t attack their personal looks (unlike the ADAM BASHERS here) … he simply didn’t like the dresses/gowns on the women. He said NOTHING DEROGATORY about them personally. Just that they weren’t dressed as elegantly as they USUALLY are. He didn’t criticize their talent or persona … just the dangged DRESSES! RELAX PPL it REALLY isn’t that DEEP!! GEEEEZ!
terie says:
@DakotaCollins: The latter part of my previous post was not meant for you … it was aimed at all the nasty posters who commented about ADAM’s critique “UNKINDLY”. He had no AGENDA by his opinion as SOMEONE “ERRONEOUSLY” commented.
Rebecca says:
Where did my comment go? Just testing…
Rebecca says:
OK~so my original comment really didn’t show up, and not that anyone really cares what I think, but I feel like sharing my opinion since I bothered to read the post.
I find that dress unflattering to Miranda’s body, and it makes her look older and heavier than I assume she actually is. She made the worst dressed lists at E!, TV Guide, and Yahoo, to name a few, so I think Adam was pretty accurate in his critique.
I loved Adam’s jacket but hated the tie, which he was able to joke about the very next day. He loves fashion, has looked amazing on many red carpets this season, is a talented singer and knows many of the musicians personally who were present at the Grammy’s. He also brings in a large audience, so for those reasons he was a perfect choice to host ET at the Grammy’s.
You are also apparently somewhat intelligent as you chose to put Adam’s name in your blog to increase hits; congratulations, it’s the only reason I stopped by!
Brenda says:
Thank you Terie - for reminding people that Adam didn’t say anything derogatory about the women…just that he didn’t like their dresses. Oh, the horror! Geesh, people, calm down - it’s one man’s opinion which I happen to agree with. As I said last night, Miranda is a beautiful woman and that dress did her no favors. It’s not about Miranda - it’s about the dress. And, to those who say Adam fans don’t belong here - hate to break it to you…but it is possible to enjoy all genres of music. Actually, I couldn’t imagine my life if I only listened to one type of music. I’m a life long (46 yrs) fan of country music but also enjoy many other kinds of music and the artists who perform it. I am ‘over the moon’ crazy about Adam. I believe, if given the opportunity to prove himself, he could be the next music superstar. He was having fun on ET as their fashion correspondent. It was one more thing he wanted the opportunitiy to do. I was actually surprised he wanted to do it because he is one of the nicest people and spends every moment trying his best to be positive and see the good in people. And, that’s what he did - he didn’t criticize people…only their clothes. He’s too nice to be mean.
What Now says:
It’s gonna snow a motherload on the east coast this weekend. Would you wear that dress in a blizzard?
Cassandra says:
What about classical music fans? Are we allowed to weigh in on this faux pop versus country rumble you’re trying to stir up? Congratulations on the many hits you got on your appalling blog by riding Adam Lambert’s coattails. Hey, if this gig doesn’t work out for you, I’ll bet they could use a gal like you on Fox News. You know, the channel that “real Americans” watch.
scorpio says:
Miranda Lambert has a lot of class. She took the comment by Adam with a grain of salt, in fact said she still loved him. Just because Adam didn’t like her dress is no diss on her as a person. All is well. Both are great people and performers.
DD says:
I agree that Miranda’s dress was not very flattering, seemed old fashioned. Did not like Carrie’s either. Adam was right, but I think his comment about Little Mermaid meets Bed Bath and Beyond could have been left out, just saying worst dress would have been enough. I guess it’s TV though and has to be embellished. It would be very hard to have to pick some people out and say their dresses are bad - not a gig I would take. Hey, thanks for linking to Adam’s website where peeps can buy his album!
Robin says:
Redmaz - This is about a pop country artist at the Grammy’s which is pop country culture. It is definitely a pop country blog.
Swilly says:
Robin The Board Blunder strikes again! You have so much pop country culture they should name a yogurt after you..
grammie says:
Adam has a great fashion sense, he was right about the Mermaid mall dress.
Steven says:
Stay on topic grammie. This blog is about pop country culture not Adam. lol@Swilly!
Mary Katenn says:
I think her dress was absolutly beautiful i think it flattered her figure and made her hair and eyes stand out and adam lambert is no one i’d ask for fashion advice thank you! I loved the dress!
agus says:
For me, it was a nice dress but more for the Oscars, not for the grammys
Sierra says:
I love what Adam said. I havee seen quite a few prom dresses like that. Adam looked great but I love sparkles so. The only thing I didn’t agree with him on was Rihanna.
gb says:
I thought Adam looked great. I think Miranda looked a lot heavier in the dress she chose to wear than she might have in another dress. It wasn’t figure flattering. Her dress just wasn’t up to the standard of some of the others at the party.
Zanner17 says:
Maybe Adam is not an official word on fashion, but he definitely has style. If Ellen D can judge American Idol and not be linked to the music industry in musical talent in any way…then Adam Lambert can certainly pick his favs and not so favs of fashion. It his opinion…hello we all have one…or at least should. Participate in life! Also, before I even saw Adams critique, I saw the TV Guide channel’s fashion critique on the Grammy’s. The celebrity stylists and fashion designers gave opinion…and Adam was right on with what they had to say. The only real difference was thay they liked Carrie’s dress whereas Adam didn’t. I noticed what he had to say on the fit before anyone commented. So anyway….he has some fashion credit, if you need the validation, in having such similar taste as the pros! One negative note…eek, I didn’t love the rodeo tie on Adam (or in genersl…on anyone), but he looked sharp as ever…hot thang!
Ginny says:
Disagreed with Carrie - thought she looked gorgeous. Agree with Miranda - it was a little high school prom for me and unflattering, but I can’t help but love the color. His other picks, were fine (though I hated Katy Perry’s garb - the color and weird cut were NOT doing it for me, looked like she was trying too hard but not surprised Adam picked her considering they’re “friends”).
Personally I disliked Adam’s Colonel Sander’s tie. Overall, he should just stick to the singing.
RENOGIRL says:
Without a doubt little mermaid - bed, bath and beyond. I have to agree with Lambert. I think he had to pick someone. There definately worse than that one though.
Deb says:
I don’t know. I personally think most of you are looking at this the wrong way. I take a look at Adam Lambert and think I’d take it as a compliment if he DID NOT like what I was wearing. If he liked what I was wearing I’d be truly insulted and then write nasty blogs. I mean, anyone walking out of the house looking like Adam Lambert should be going to a holloween party.
KAMBERT. says:
uhm . ewe. i personally really dont like miranda. i dont like country & her outfits just dont fit her body. on the orher hand, adam lambert looked absolutely fantastic . he wears the ” right mount a leather ” & the ” black color liner ” he is just amazing & he cant be compared to anyone. especially someone who is as not to be mean but ugly as her. :)
alpha westfall says:
i think miranda is a beautiful woman but then the dress is not THE ONE. she looks better when she’s slimmer too.
lifetime says:
taylor looked really beautiful…miranda if she would have had this dress in black or navy it would have been better..
Kristina says:
What a clever way to have people hate on Adam. Who cares what he thought. He was asked to do this and he did. I kinda like her dress but compared to all the others is it the worst? I don’t know and I don’t care. I personally did not like Carrie’s dress at all.
