Taylor Swift Is Really Loving Glee Right Now
There are pictures. There is speculation. But Taylor Swift is off to tour Down Under so we have no way of knowing what is a budding romance and what is just plain old friendship. But I will say this: if Swift is going out with the singing hunk of a jock that is Cory Monteith from the hit TV show, Glee, then I wish them the very best. Swift revealed on Sunday night (Jan. 31) that she's "really loving Glee right now." Whether or not she'll do a cameo on the show is unknown. But she was seen at a party with Monteith (a Canadian high-school drop out who loves hockey and used to be a Wal-Mart greeter and a cab driver) during the pre-Grammy festivities in Los Angeles. Then again, Monteith told E! News he'd be spending Valentine's Day alone. Could he have meant "alone" alone? Or alone because Swift is in Australia?

Really, Alison, this is news?
NashvilleJohn says:
Here are some Grammy reviews
In all, Swift won four trophies at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards. AfterFearless also won for best country album, the singer-songwriter said, “I’m standing here accepting an impossible dream right now, and I thank you so much for that.”
Now the bad news: Response to her duet with Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks during the telecast has been overwhelmingly harsh.
The genre-blending duet — on Nicks’ “Rhiannon” with Swift’s “You Belong With Me” — drew sharp reviews from critics, both professional and in the social networking and blogging world.
Ann Powers of the Los Angeles Times wrote that “Swift gave a strikingly bad vocal performance at Staples Center on Sunday, sounding tinny and rhythmically flat-footed as she shared the microphone with the distinctive Stevie Nicks.”
Chris Richards of The Washington Post wrote, “A night in the charmed life of Taylor Swift: Give an incredibly wretched vocal performance, go on to win the biggest Grammy of 2010, anyway.”
The Tennessean’s Dave Paulson chimed in on a live blog: “Maybe a smidge of Jamie Foxx’s autotune wouldn’t be such a bad idea for this duet.”
Respected music industry blogger Bob Lefsetz first wrote that Fearlessdeserved to win album of the year, but then proffered that Swift might have single-handedly imperiled her career with this one Grammy performance: “How awful was she? Dreadful.”
Steve says:
the sad thing is is that they do use auto tune when she sings!
Fearlessly_Good says:
Aw they look cute together. If I’m not wrong, isn’t he a little old for her? Not that age matters, Taylor always did seem very mature for her age.
bkbs says:
good comeback steve. now what should she do? maybe quit singing and go to hollywood.
kayko says:
“Respected music industry blogger Bob Lefsetz”, it took me a while to remember where I heard that name before. He’s the one that wrote that unfavorable blog about Carrie Underwood last month.
winterflakes says:
Gorgeous couple. I really hope she dates Cory. They are both tall and good looking. He is perfect for her.
harry says:
mm why is she dating a high school drop out this makes me lose respect for her..
watson says:
when she sang at the Grammys last night my ears where screaming they hurt so much from her terrible singing
Bree says:
She is wanting to appear on Glee, hated the Grammys except the MJ tribute-best ever on a Grammy Show-they should get back to basics-like duh, all those highly celebrated artist who has vocals. So tired of hearing about the so call awards.
carlye says:
hi you are cool and prity
flower says:
they are so cute together!!!!!
Peacock Queen says:
Taylor is young, single, on her own, dating and having the time of her life. Why shouldn’t she be friends with, or even date, nice young men? Good for her.
As for “Respected music industry blogger Bob Lefsetz.” Right.
This is what he said about Carrie Underwood:
“Yes, for the time being certain Nashville forces are making money selling Carrie Underwood records. But underneath the sticky sweet exterior, there’s nothing…except maybe a good voice. And that just ain’t enough. Not enough to make us love you through and through.”
Not enough to make someone love an artist through and through? What does Susan Boyle have other than a “good voice?” She doesn’t dress in galaxy-inspired outfits, march around on stage, slide down poles or bop up and down. She simply sings. And what did only that “good voice” do for her? Well, according to what I can find on the Internet, there is no other artist (Boyle) in the over 50 year history of the Billboard charts who opened on the chart at #1 with their debut album and then spent five weeks at the top. In addition, her total sales of more than 500,000 copies in each of the first five weeks of release for I Dreamed a Dream puts her in the company of only three other albums since SoundScan’s charting began in 1991 to sell that many copies in each of the first five weeks(top40.about.com).
In the “kick them while they are down” category, “respected” Lefsetz is gleefully predicting the end of Taylor Swift’s career due to the critical review of her duet with Stevie Nicks. Do we think the eight- to 16-year-old crowd really cares about that one performance? Especially one done with a rock diva they have probably never seen or heard before? I doubt it. If Swift wants to release another album, I bet she can and it will sell close to if not as much as “Fearless.”
Sounds to me as though this respected industry blogger has a problem with top-selling young women in country music.
joyce says:
Well Taylor is eventually wanting to appeal to an older crowd. Hopefully her next album will be something other than a fairytale. It will be interesting to see if she can have the appeal that apparently she does to the younger audience at present. Seriously Stevie Nicks was the only one singing well in that duet and Taylor did not even sing her own songs well.
8charlotte says:
The fact is that Taylor gave another awful performance live at another award show.I have yet to hear a good performance from Taylor at any live award show.Sorry you can not fix live performances. When Taylor performs live you get the real thing,a voice that can not sing on key or in tune.
flower says:
taylor was alot better than stevie nicks!!! I taped it and was watching it again and taylor did sound good but when stevie came out she was ok with her song and taylor was soso but when taylor starting singing ybwm taylor was 10 times better than stevie it looked like stevie didn’t even no the words or the beat or something stevie was the one that was off more!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and I love stevie nicks!
julietb says:
Flower you are always a TS supporter but sadly the damaged was already done. The critics are out in full force against her at the moment and it`s not even the duet but the whole performance of her and proclaiming that she cant sing. Hopefully this will pass but what happened at the grammys cant be undone. Even some of her fans are very disappointed. But as a true fan you`re showing your loyalty. Good for you.
carrieISmyIdol says:
ok. here’s my take on taylor swift. first things first, i am not an immature person on this post trying to put swift down,i am just a person with an honest opinion…so here goes, i am not a fan of her voice, however i do believe she has nice vocals she isnt a powerhouse singer, yet her vocals are soothing, she doesnt appeal to me but i do not think she deserves this kind of criticism from the critics they are being really harsh and making it seem like she cant sing at all. Sometimes she is out of tune but for the most part her vocals are soothing, she is not a powerhouse singer, but she still delivers a good performance. She is a talented songwriter a natural, i respect the fact that she plays an instrument and that she is unique, she may not be my cup of tea,but theres no denying that taylor should be respected as an artist who deserves the accolades for her talents and achievements. what i do admire about taylor, is that as big as she is right now she has managed to stay humble, down to earth, and she has stayed true to herself she is a great role model for young people, she seems like she has a good head on her shoulders and i dont see her going out of control, i respect a good young hard working woman and give credit when credit is due. i hope she never loses that, she has admirable qualities. i am a powerhouse fan mainly of carrie underwood she is my idol in country music and she is someone i see who has the same qualities as taylor i consider them very important in this industry and i wish their was more artists like them, their true to themselves and they stay humble, and that is very refreshing to see. i wish taylor the best even if im not a fan of her vocals but as a person, i guess you can call me a fan because i like her personality. i think these critics need to relax, i mean in all seriousness do they matter, we the fans are who give our favorites a job, as carrie would say, we are their bosses…screw the critics taylor deserves the recognition, she works hard and she has the talent…..she deserves her moment.
carrieISmyIdol says:
one more thing this has nothing to do with what i said above, but she is very beautifull.
arden says:
whoa… that would be nice. The grammy awards was cool. For taylor and cory, I think they both look really nice.
arden says:
besides, the both have awesome voices.
what if they do a duet together? I wonder how they would sound like.
fantasia says:
flower you are funny. better add some water, you seem to be wilting.
Veeta says:
Why is the media so obsessed with her love life? She takes a picture with some random actor and bang, they’re dating! She goes to a musician’s concert and bang, they’re dating! She gives her ex-boyfriend a hug on the red carpet and bang, they’re dating again! LEAVE HER ALONE!
elizab says:
She is in the media so it`s expected. Like you said in your comments in the past she is very famous more than other artists even in New York. So now that everybody is talking about her you want them to leave her alone. You better make up your mind Veeta. She is the topic of the month this month so enjoy it; no complaints because it`s what you want ,isn`t it? I think you only want to hear good things but right now all are most negatives but such is life.
McGinnis says:
Is there a rehab for singers who’ve fallen flat on their faces? One that helps them show their face again on stage?
What would Michael Jackson say about that dreadful performance….can you imagine if she was trying out for his concert? Man oh man. He would have let her down gently, but someone would’ve wisked her off the stage with the hook. The Glee or luster is off the Taylor Koolade.
We’re just not drinking it anymore.
Kevin says:
Check out MTV.com comments about Taylor Swift and her horrible voice!
kayko says:
Yeah Kevin that really impresses me cause a bunch of fans are upset because their favorite didn’t,win mostly GaGa fans. But then again maybe not.LOL
Veeta says:
Hahaha yes Taylor should go to rehab for being so freaking popular and winning a million awards in such a little time. She should go to rehab for selling out all her shows not only in America, but in Australia and UK too. She should go to rehab for earning millions of dollars last year. She should go to rehab for being liked by everyone who meets her and considers her a role model.
Annoymous people on the internet are hilarious. You people are all nobodies. Taylor Swift is known worldwide, selling out albums and concerts, and has millions of loyal fans ALL OVER THE WORLD. Deal with it.
S says:
Brian Mansfield wrote the following in USA TODAY about Taylor.
“For the past five months, Taylor Swift has been everywhere. From the VMAs to the CMAs to the Grammys, she seems to have performed on every awards show — and come home with an armful of trophies.
Tabloids have chronicled her every casual date. Now, with Sunday’s top-album win for Fearless and three other Grammys, Swift’s handlers are concerned that the young singer could be overexposed.
Heading to Australia for a tour that starts Thursday might help.
“The Australian dates had been planned all along, but it actually worked out great,” says Scott Borchetta, who runs Big Machine Records, Swift’s label.
“The next time you see her will likely be on the ACM (Academy of Country Music) awards show” in April, Borchetta says. “During that time, we’re going to have a new video, but as far as the talking head of Taylor Swift, that one’s gone into hiding for a little bit, at least on this continent.”"
So, how can she go into hiding, as Scott Borchetta says, when Alison blogs about everything Taylor?
kayko says:
Where did you get she’s going into hiding? She’s in Australia doing shows to sold out venue’s then she’s going to Japan on tour. I swear some people are to funny.
S says:
Did you read my message? See the 6th paragraph. It’s a quote from Scott Borchetta..
carebear#1 says:
why do people hate her so much. i think she handles fame very well and she lives her life like a normal 20 yr old, actually i take that back shes actually more mature then most 20yr olds out there…she is a nice girl, shes grounded, down to earth and she isnt clubbin or whoring around, what is the problem ????? what did this girl do to deserve all the hatred on the internet ??
she writes her own music, she plays guitar/piano,she works hard and she is an over achiever, ok sure she isnt the best singer in america but she has a nice descent voice..why so much hate for taylor???
S says:
He didn’t say SHE was going into hiding. He said “the talking head of Taylor has gone into hiding for a little bit.” Meaning that her publicity is going to be toned down a little. In other words, they’re going to stop shoving her down our throats every time we turn around.
John says:
Taylor will be playing Australia tonight and if you search her name on twitter after the show I am sure you will see a lot of tweets saying the best show they have ever seen. If you don’t believe me check it out.
Samantha says:
I like Taylor, but her performance and vocals were not that good this past Sunday. I don’t even like her music anymore. I miss her old music from her first album. I miss her old self. She is just not the same like she used to be. The only reason why she has sold out shows is because half of her fans are not even country fans. Pop fans + Country fans = more people at her concerts. I hear her music on the Hip hop/pop radio stations here in Socal all the time. I just wished she never crossed over in the first place, that’s all.
D Trotter says:
My compliments to Peacock and CarrieISmyIdol. Excellent posts — balanced, objective and fair. Very refreshing in the midst of the current hysteria.
I also agree with John, the Aussies just love Taylor and her live shows there have been real celebrations. So there will be some news, and just because she is out of the Country won’t end CMT blogs about her because … well, they generate so MUCH debate and discussion.
And since “Fearless” is last year’s album, she won’t even qualify for any Awards until her new one is ready, and that won’t be for some time. So, yes, Taylor will be a little more low-profile than usual, if anyone lets her be. In the meantime, Lady A will hold the fort nicely I think.
Buck says:
The game hasn’t changed in many a year. The public is just getting wiser and madder about being taken for fools. Taylor Swift has been created as a role model and that’s supposed to stop any criticism. It’s Mom and apple pie territory believes Mr. Borchetta. The fly in the ointment is that people want a decent singer. They need not be stellar, but, Ms. Swift falls so far off the scale that it’s not acceptable to an adult, global, audience. You know when someone is so consistently unable to sing live you know it’s not an “off night”. People are now saying musicality does matter. That’s something to applaud!
