Grammys Got the Party Started One Day Early
Even if I'd gone to Los Angeles for the Grammys on Sunday (Jan. 31), it actually sounds like Saturday (Jan. 30) was the best day to be there. First up was Grammy rehearsals. Bon Jovi and Jennifer Nettles did their run-through of "Who Says You Can't Go Home," and Carrie Underwood got ready for the Michael Jackson tribute of "The Earth Song" with Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson, Smokey Robinson and Usher. EW.com noted that both Dion and Underwood were wearing their "Talent" credential stickers onstage, in the event that security guards would not recognize those two in their 3-D glasses.
Then after that, the parties started. There was the MusiCares 2010 Person of the Year gala honoring Neil Young. And for just $1,250 a plate, you could watch country folks like Lady Antebellum, Dierks Bentley and Keith Urban perform, as well as many other musicians. "Neil is such a unique singer, you have to find your own version of [his voice]," Bentley said of playing "Cinnamon Girl." Lady Antebellum chose to do "Only Love Can Break Your Heart," but it was not Charles Kelley's first choice. "There were a few different songs on our wish list, one of which was 'Helpless,' but I think Elton John's doing that one and it's not like you can tell Elton he can't do it," Kelley said at rehearsals. Keith Urban sang his own take on "Rockin' in the Free World."
Rolling Stone reported that Young found it a little awkward to watch his life in song: "You know how uncomfortable it is to see pictures of yourself 30 or 40 years ago? It's a funny feeling. I listen to some of those songs and go how, 'How can I ever? What am I gonna do now? Who was that guy?'"
After all that, Bentley went on to the annual Clive Davis pre-Grammy bash where Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood were. Underwood performed Sammy Cahn's "All the Way" with Harry Connick Jr., and then "Cowboy Casanova." Reports were that the latter song might have been too rowdy of a song for a hotel ballroom.

Wish I could have been a fly on the wall!!!!
Bree says:
You could have left out that negative statement and then this would have been a great blog.
Rita says:
The “report” was just a bash it seems. To bad the reporter doesn’t know talent when it smackes them in the face. I can only dream of being at such an event. I can’t wait to see Carrie in May.
trac says:
