Counting on Kristofferson "For the Good Times"
I had been looking forward to Kris Kristofferson's concert last night (Jan. 27) since I lined up at the Ryman Auditorium months ago to buy tickets. My mother is in town visiting for her birthday, and really, what better way to celebrate? Nothing, if you ask us. He took the stage wearing all black, guitar in hand and his harmonica harnessed around his neck. Just as I had imagined, he exuded that undeniable presence as he looked out from the stage with that charming, almost mischievous grin. From the heartbreakingly beautiful "Sunday Morning Coming Down" to that witty ditty about a silver-tongued devil, my mother and I soaked up each moment as he performed two hours of music from his eclectic catalog. I hung on to each raspy note. As he performed "From Here to Forever," a newer song he wrote for his children, a few tears ran down my cheek as I looked over at my mother who was wiping one from hers. There's just something about seeing Kris Kristofferson live that feels so authentic. It's real, it's raw and to borrow the title from an album, closer to the bone.

Good to see my old friend Kris is still playing..I knew him in San Francisco in 1970 then in Nashville,1971-1973
he was always supportive of the other acts and song writers
brought Joan Beaz&Jerry Jeff Walker..to see us play at the Red Dog Saloon..he always was a good guy..and stayed that way even after he became famous..

Kris brings back old memories. You laugh and cry thinking about days of long ago ..remembering friends with whom you sang Kris` songs (almost forty years ago) especially “Me and Bobby McGee” and “Sunday morning coming down”. May the Good Lord keep him for many more years.
