Taylor Swift's Newest Fan: Little Hank Baskett IV

Posted: January 25th, 2010 at 5:43 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Taylor SwiftWho doesn't adore Taylor Swift these days? She even has a tiny fan in a newborn, little Hank Baskett IV. The son of Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Hank Baskett and his wife, former Girl Next Door and Hugh Hefner girlfriend, Kendra (Wilkinson) Baskett, apparently digs Swift. Kendra posted on Twitter last week: "so I learned who lil Hanks crushes are..they are Taylor Swift and @OfficialAudrina lol." That could mean nothing. However, she'd tweeted a couple weeks before that: "we are just laying here watchin n jammin to some country music videos on CMT lol. He loves his lamb swing so much." So if little Hank is spending his formative months watching videos on CMT, I think he's got a very bright future ahead.

i like taylor shes a sweet beautifull girl, i dont like her music, its nothing personal toward taylor its just not my style, i like her as a person and i think she is a great role model, i think she has a great head on her shoulders and its nice to see a young lady with morals and values and self respect for herself, very very refreshing and i hope taylor always keeps that down to earth humble attitude, she seems very mature, and i envy her because she knows how to play guitar!..im learning right now and its not easy!!!….kendra and hank’s baby is cute, i dont think this is stupid like someone posted a few blogs up taylor fans like to read about her regardless if its about music or not!…so rude

I dig Taylor’s style of music next to Sugarlands of course and I’m so tired of all the hate you people spew out. Let every artist be themselves. If you have nothing nice to say then say nothing at all. You people sound like broken records and it’s the same people!

I don’t adore Taylor Swift. Not today, not yesterday, nor will I ever.

Please note - No ‘hate’ was included in this post, just a truthful answer to the question posed by the blogger.

I think that’s cute! When I was a baby I was apparently mesmerized by The Grateful Dead whenever my parents played them. It’s funny how little kids can connect with music.
And seriously, people need to get over themselves here. I foyu don’t like someone, don’t bother reading an article with their name in the title.
But I do agree that CMT plays a lot of crap, just like MTV. I don’t get any country stations at school, so I have to get my fix every time I go home, but I can’t even watch CMT anymore unless I want to watch reality show reruns or movies that aren’t actually connected with the music I want to hear.

I thought Taylor’s performance on the Hope For Haiti telethon was the best I have seen and heard from her yet. Her opening number on last November’s CMAs was horrendous. But I believe the somber occasion on HFH kept her low-key, and she was able to put the right emotion into her performance and focus on the song instead of bouncing around on stage and swinging her hair like crazy and singing way off-key. It was also a positive song, mature and relevant. This performance was so much better, vocally as well as visually. The Best Day is also a much more reflective and lovelier song than the “boys are cheaters and girls are mean” songs she normally writes and sings. Maybe she is maturing, and her songs will be able to appeal to a wider audience than before.

No hate here, just an honest opinion. I like Taylor, I just haven’t cared much for her music. But the HFH performance was good. I could hear that song again and enjoy it.

Peacock Queen, although I personally enjoyed Ms Swift’s CMA opener very much,I can understand how some traditional country fans might not embrace it.

I’m sure we will continue to disagree about many things, but I have to say this: Your comments, on this blog and one about Haiti, clearly demonstrate you’re a pretty decent lady.

I liked how you, Robin and K were more interested in praising EVERYONE, including Taylor, for their efforts to help out Haiti, rather than just using the blog as another excuse to carp about Taylor. The Hope for Haiti album is going to be #1 on the Billboard 200 next week, the first to do that with digital sales alone. So far, $61M raised and growing as iTunes gets counted. Individually, 3 songs from HFH are in the iTunes top 20: Timberlake at No. 1, Kid Rock/Crow/Urban are 9th, and Taylor is 17th. (Maybe they should have had MORE Country performers!)

As for the rest of your comment, I don’t find it at all offensive; I doubt Taylor would. I personally find more emotional depth in the entirety of her writings (not just the hits) than you, and I think WHAT she was able to do — capture the feelings of a young girl growing into a woman, with all the hormonal stuff and peer pressures, written in REAL time and with total honesty — was quite unique, well-rendered and will be treasured for years to come by NEW generations. But those are my thoughts as a huge fan, I’m not gonna be uptight if you disagree.

I DO agree that Taylor IS growing up, and her observations will have to mature if she is to stay relevant. Your comments in that regard are appropriate, open-minded, fair, and constructive rather than vicious.

I look forward to debating you — in a civil way — on future blogs, and I sincerely apologize if I misjudged you in the past.

    CountryIsCool,
I couldn’t stay away. I love this site too much, but I hate the HATE! It gets to me sometimes. I will try very hard to follow your advice and let it go in one ear and out the other.

    Trotter,
No hard feelings; not on my part. I appreciate your apology. I really do like Taylor’s performance on HFH. I have watched it a number of times on YouTube and I have been humming it all day. Sometimes it takes a while for a “unique” artist to grow on people. When Randy Travis first came into country music, I didn’t like him at all. I thought “Who is this dweeb invading my music?” But then I went to one of his concerts because my friends made me go, and I fell in love with Randy the artist that night. I couldn’t live without his “This Is Me” album. Literally. I couldn’t. I know you love Taylor, but please don’t take the fact that others do not love her too much to heart. It may take some time, but if she is around for a while and continues to put out music people want to hear, others will learn to appreciate her the way you do.
    PQ the pushy out!

What does this blog have to do with you people liking or not liking Taylor Swift? And what does this blog have to do with whether Taylor Swift can sing or not? LOL some people are so desperate to have their opinions heard…kinda sad.

I dislike taylor and she can not sing i mean come on have you heard her live and i dont feel she deserves all those grammy nomination, i think they are just giving her all that attention for what Kanye did to her, but she shouldnt have won that award it should have went to beyonce because she work shard and put effort into what she doing and she one of the best performers of our time, and she has good vocals and her album did very well, and i also think lady gaga is pretty cool too, but i dont think taylor is, i mean she cant even sing so yea that my opinion, no those are facts.
