Kid Rock Digs Country's New Singer-Songwriters
It's possible to be a really great singer even if you don't write your own songs. But if you do write them, even better. That's how Kid Rock sees things anyway. He admits that he likes country's latest round of heroes like Zac Brown and Jamey Johnson. "They both write their songs and they are those people in their songs, so I champion both those guys," he said. But the love doesn't stop there. Rock's also a fan of the songwriter in Taylor Swift. "She knows how to play guitar and she writes her songs so God bless her. I wish there was more of that out there. Hopefully she gets better and grows and keeps it all going," he said. It's an interesting point of view from a man whose biggest country hit ("All Summer Long") includes bits and pieces of other artists' songs -- Warren Zevon's "Werewolves of London" and Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama."

Of course this blog wouldn’t have been complete without a mention of Taylor Swift.
Kid Rock acknowledges that Swift knows how to play guitar. WOW!!! A whopping two chords that she plays over and over. Actually it’s just another one of her attempts at distracting you from her horrid and inadequate voice.

Being a non-Taylor fan I interpret it to mean “God bless her that she can play guitar and write songs because she can’t sing. Hopefully she gets better..”

I know Kid Rock loves Miranda Lambert, Kellie Pickler, and Martina McBride’s singing because he asked them to sing his most famous duet “Picture” with him live in concert and they nailed it with their perfect vocals.

Sorry, I don’t like Kid Rock, he’s so sleazy and I hate the fact he gets to perform on country awards shows when there are so many great country artists I’d much rather see get a chance- but I agree there are good singer songwriters in country music today -and they cowrite with the best writers Nashville has to offer - that’s the key to it all - Nashville has honest heart and soul and the songs that come out of it show that
