Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles Has an Ice Day
After an hour and a half of trying to learn to ice skate backwards on Saturday (Jan. 16), Jennifer Nettles finally found the key to success. In the Miley Cyrus song, "Party in the U.S.A." Nettles had only been skating four times before, but thought it was time to learn what she calls one of the more counter-intuitive actions one can try. She even had a teacher telling her things like "push from your toe," "don't lean forward," "bend your knees," "lean back a bit on your skates" and all that. All while trying to do this in hockey skates, which must've been close to impossible because the blades are narrower and shorter than the ones on figure skates. Anyway, eventually Nettles said "something clicked." She tried, like a singer should, to move to the music: "Turning my hips side to side, to the beat. They were playing my song. I felt like I could fly away. Bobbing my head like, yeah. Moving my hips like ... Yeah, backwards skating bitches!!!!" Maybe ice-skating rinks will start playing that hip-grooving "Party in the U.S.A." at all their lessons from now on.

Swilly,
WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?????? WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN????? I needed you! Alison wrote a blog on Taylor Swift putting flour in Mason jars, and I cracked a joke about how flour doesn’t go in Mason jars, liquified corn does! Well, the overly-sensitive Taylor fans thought I was making a swipe at their little darling, so I had to EXPLAIN that it was a joke, at my expense, because in the rural south, MOONSHINE went into Mason jars, not flour. Then I had to explain what moonshine is. Then I had to explain how many country songs contain references to drinking home-made brew out of Mason jars, but their little fists just kept flying. You know how it is. Anyway, I needed your help in explaining why Moonshine, Mason jars, country music are related and why a resident of Hooterville would find it amusing, but you were no where to be found. Thanks a lot, pal!!!!

But I have been having fun on this site. I have met some nice people, had some good laughs, and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I have learned a lot, too. But I can go away. Considering how mean some people want to be to people they don’t even know on this site, that might be best.

Don’t even think of going away PQ. You are the voice of reason (and kindness) on these blogs.
Peacock Queen says:
Thank you countryiscool! I needed that. I enjoy reading your posts as well because you have wonderful insight into the artists and their music. You tend to be honest, but fair. Shouldn’t we all? I am tired of the nasty people on here. Unfortunately, Sweetie, I have decided to go away. This will be my last post. I just wanted to thank you for the kind comment, because I really needed to hear it.

The voice of reason?lol She comes off as a pushy know it all who’s life revolves around this blogsite, but so does dtrooter, robin, k, barb b, and others, and whoever says this is my last post here, it isn’t. Just looking for some attention, and wanting people to ask them to stay. The people that really leave here, never say they are going to. They just do it.,. .
