Country Couples Are Last on Forbes' List of Top-Earners

Posted: January 14th, 2010 at 2:04 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Keith Urban and Nicole KidmanIt's hard to believe the Hillgraws and the Kurbans are at the bottom of any list, especially when it comes to money. But when Forbes magazine was counting down the list of "Hollywood's Top-Earning Couples" of 2009, that's where they landed. Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman were dead last, at No. 15, for their paltry double income of $17 million. And Tim McGraw and Faith Hill came in at No. 12 for theirs of $28 million. And while the story calls them "the Jay-Z and Beyonce of country music," they didn't even come close to pulling in the $122 million that that power couple did. And if Lady Antebellum's Charles Kelley should ever need a loan, it's good to know his brother Josh and wife Katherine Heigl came in at No. 14 with their $20 million.

I prefer Tim & Faith over Jay-Z & Beyonce any day of the week, month or year. Tim & Faith are more of regular people.

So the purpose of this. Lets see Faith other than her Christmas album in 2008 hasn’t put out a studio album since 2005 and hasn’t toured since 2007. Tim before Southern Voice that came out October 2009 hadn’t put out a studio album since March 2007. Tim other than a few festivals did not tour in 2009 and didn’t even really do a big tour in 2008, small compared to most country artists.

I am curious why Keith and Nicole are less than Tim and Faith since he did a HUGE tour and put out an album the earlier part of 2009.

I don’t really care. I love “my” music, and I love “my” artists. Who makes more money? Who cares, as long as we are all happy? Beyonce is beautiful, talented, and has a large fan base. I am not one of her fans because her music isn’t exactly what I prefer to listen to, but I admire and respect her as an artist. If she is doing well financially, great! (I don’t know who Jay Z is!!!!!) But I’ll keep my “poor” country kings and queens, thanks!

WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU ALLISON? THERE ARE NUMBER 16 TO ENTERNITY BEHIND THAT LIST. NOTHING IMPORTANT TO WRITE ABOUT ASIDE FROM THIS SNARKY REMARKs??

LET THEM BE POOR AT 28 AND 17 MILLION INCOME PER YEAR.

This “data” from from between June 2008 and June 2009. Keith did only 58 cities in 2009; May to October. Very brief tour. His Love, Pain + Carnival tour ended 2008 April. He wasn’t “working” May 2008-May 2009 basically. That’s what he earn when he’s not working, …..

Tim and Faith income also come thru’ their perfumes!!! Love them. Tim also tour very briefly, 30 dates in 2 months and he drew like 20 millions. Very successful people.

I don’t give a hoot how much who’s making, but there’s nothing to make fun of or spin.

I agree with Peacock Queen. Numbers don’t matter to me. It’s the artists and the music that I love. I’ve seen Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, and Gary Allan in concert, and all of them put on great shows. I have a whole list of artists whose concerts I would love to see in the future. Brad Paisley and Lady Antebellum are two on the top of that list. The fact is, for me, its not the number or tour dates or the amount of money the tour made, it’s the quality of the tour, and the fact that the artist is entertaining me and all the other fans with great music!

TLC - When Allison said that Keith and Nicole “were dead last, at No. 15, for their paltry double income of $17 million” I believe she was saying it tongue in cheek. In all the things I’ve read of Allison’s I’ve NEVER heard her day anything “snarky” about those two.

Dave…good grief, you’re as bad as my husband, reading into everything and making it political. Racism is a word that gets tossed around too much in an inappropriate manner and by doing so you lessen it’s true meaning.

DAVE - Beyonce and Jay are not regular people not because of their race, but because they think they are “high and mighty”. While I’m not a fan of Taylor Swift, Beyonce had the nerve to defend what Kanye did to Taylor by saying “he shouldn’t have dont it, but…. he was just “defending” art”. How arrogant is that!!!!!!! Before that comment I liked Beyonce and thought she showed class. It just goes to show she was just faking it at the award show and deep down thought he was correct. Again, no fan of Swift here, but hers is “more” art than Beyonce’s is. Really, all her video was was three chicks booty shaking.

There are a bunch of people of other races that aren’t regular people either. Tim and Faith are regular folks, Beyonce and Jay are not. They are arrogant elitist.

    Robin,
Wow, I didn’t know Beyonce said that. Maybe she felt sorry for Kanye and was trying to defend him to help him out a little? He was getting seriously bashed for that stunt, and I still wonder if that whole thing was staged, anyway. If it were staged, I don’t think the people involved counted on such a harsh reaction from the public toward Kanye. But then, I don’t know. It’s just an idea.

Why do we have to know how much money they make? Obviously they make a heck of a lot more than most of the fans. As long as they remember where they came from, maybe they will put some of that big money to good use.
