Jake Owen Turns Up Heat on "Eight Second Ride"

If you're experiencing freezing winter temps, here's an idea -- turn up Jake Owen's provocative music video, "Eight Second Ride." His steamy project is chock full of sexual innuendos and frisky footage, so don't be surprised if it leaves you feeling a bit red in the face. It's his latest single off his sophomore album, Easy Does It, and will be featured on this weekend's (Jan. 8) edition of Top 20 Countdown. Oh, and Jake's also the guest host. While he was here at CMT taping the show, he told me that he wrote the song nearly nine years ago when he was hitching a ride from Nashville to Tallahassee, Fla., with his buddy, Eric Durrance, also a country singer-songwriter. Over the course of 500 miles, the two wrote the whole song with a premise built around an attention-grabbing chorus. If you've listened closely, I'd say, "Mission accomplished." Though the single was first featured on his 2006 debut, Startin' With Me, it never made it to radio until now. "It's pretty flattering," he said. "That song has come full circle."
