Dierks Bentley Goes Into 2010 Freeze-and-Easing
It is 6 degrees in Chicago right now and I'm freezing. Still, that is nothing compared to what Dierks Bentley and his entourage did on New Year's Day. In what has become an annual tradition of manliness, Bentley and his big group of gladiator pals (the band, songwriters and even a couple of kids) do a backwards slow march into the very frigid waters of Percy Priest Lake in Nashville. It was a gorgeous sunny day, but only 28 degrees outside, so I can only imagine what that lake felt like when they jumped in and submerged themselves from head to toe. I think some of the best holiday traditions are the craziest ones, so this lake jump is right up there at the top of the list. And who knows, maybe the whole extreme bonding experience will inspire even more great country music from Bentley and his crew in 2010.

He is way too brave. Not for me to try! Not going to belly-flop into cold water. Not me. Uh uh.

We have a local Polar Bear dip here too. I’m not crazy enough to do it, but people wear bikinis and various costumes. It usually draws at least 100 or more. Brrr…
