Zac Brown Band Surrounded by Women in 2009

Zac Brown BandStreaming a music video means you are watching it on purpose. It's a little different than watching it on TV, where you are just watching whatever comes on next. Streaming means you clicked on the play button deliberately. So when I see the year's Top 10 list of streamed videos on CMT.com, I'm not surprised that Carrie Underwood, Kellie Pickler and Taylor Swift are all over it. But why is this Zac Brown Band video for "Whatever It Is" the only one from a guy? I mean, I love the video. Just kind of stumped as to why there's so little male representation on the list. Where are Jason Aldean, Keith Urban, Tim McGraw and Trace Adkins? There was a time when men dominated country music so maybe this girl-heavy list is a sign of a shift.

I personally loved “Chicken Fried” a whole lot better than “Whatever It Is.” Why aren’t the guys on the list? Beats me! I streamed Jimmy Wayne’s videos more than anyone else.

So….what do you expect is going to happen when 100’s of kids sit around for hours on the CMT website voting 1000’s of times each? They don’t call it kiddie country for nothing.

Very good point, Larry. I didn’t think of that, but I believe you may very well have found the answer to my question “Why aren’t the guys on the list?” But at least the kids are coming to CMT, and maybe they will learn the wonderful history behind country music, and begin listening to other artists besides the ones who currently appeal to only the young people, and we can have a very big audience of country fans for the future. Hopefully, from this site they will learn about Merle, Johnny, Waylon, Patsy, Tammy, Loretta, etc. and realize what great music we have always had in our artists!!!!

Correction: I did not mean to say “appeal ONLY to the young people.” I should have worded that differently because that may sound offensive and I did not intend that. I should have said “who mostly appeal to the young people.” Sorry! My bad! Please do not carve out my liver with a dull spoon! I didn’t mean it that way! I swear!

    Can I have an aspirin?????
