Zac Brown Band Beam Throughout Ryman Show

Posted: December 29th, 2009 at 4:20 pm  |  By: Craig Shelburne

I managed to find a last-minute ticket to Zac Brown Band's show at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville last night (Dec. 28), the second of the easygoing ensemble's two-night stand at the Mother Church of Country Music. Part of the show's appeal was watching Brown beaming with pleasure throughout the entire set. He brought along some of his fledgling musical discoveries from Georgia, as well as his Nashville buddies Joey & Rory and Mac McAnally, and he couldn't keep from grinning as he jammed with them. Even though he stood front and center of the Ryman stage, Brown spent as much time admiring everybody's instrumental solos -- and, lo, there were many -- as he did engaging himself with the crowd. Not that we felt ignored. It could make an audience blush by how much he praised us, and thanked us, and gave free Koozies to us, and insisted that he couldn't care less about awards because he's too focused on us, making sure we were getting our money's worth. Gee whiz, Zac, that's awfully nice of you. In turn, we all enjoyed "The Devil Went Down to Georgia," "Chicken Fried" and especially "Toes," but if the solid new tunes like "Colder Weather" and "Falling in Love as She's Walking Away" are any indication, you may want to add a third night in 2010.

I really like all their singles, and I need to get their cd. I respect them for doing Devil Went Down To Georgia on the CMA’S. It was a bold move on their part, and pulled it off nicely..

I hope they win many awards though Lady Antellbellum is just as good.

I wonder how crazy it would be if they would tour

Love these guys. Can do without Taylor Swift! She is not country. These guys are down home country music. Like it should be. Leave the rap and rock out. Country music all the way!!

“Chicken Fried” is one great song. I heard the guys put in everything they considered “American” - fried chicken, good country songs, beer, good-fittin’ jeans respect for our Country, appreciating those in uniform, loving Mom, kids, etc. Great song. Great, great country song. They have had my respect from day one with that song. I have sung it for months. I AM A CHICKEN FRIED!!!!
