Wolfgang's Vault Brings Vintage Country to Life

Merle HaggardWant to hear Merle Haggard do "To All the Girls I've Loved Before" from a San Antonio show in 1984? Or the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band goofing around in 1983 on Rodney Crowell's "American Dream" at the Lone Star Café in NYC? Also from 1983, at the Appalachian Fair in Tennessee, you can hear Reba McEntire singing "There Ain't No Future in This." You could pretty much spend all day on this site and not hear one single bad country song. There are said to be more than 5,000 live recordings made between 1966 and 1999, that come straight (and legally) from the archives of Bill Graham Presents, the concert production company established by the iconic rock promoter who died in a helicopter crash in 1991. It's no big deal these days to stream music on your computer, but this is vintage, classic stuff. And it's live. And it's free. I can think of no better way to escape the family craziness this week than spending a little time in Wolfgang's Vault.

Great site, Thanks! They also have old concerts by Mel McDaniel, George Jones, Eddie Rabbitt, Emmylou Harris, John Conlee, Bobby Bare, Charlie Daniels, George Strait, Dolly Parton, and Randy Travis… just to name a few favorites.

Great site, Alison. Thanks! I have to say that, in addition to the rare Country nuggets you describe, I’m at least as excited about the vintage live stuff by the rockers — Nell Young, the Allman’s, the Band, Van Morrison, etc.,…
    Whatever your pleasure,
    This site is a treasure!

One of the best sites I have seen in years. I just spent five hours there and just listened to a little of the music. Thousands of concerts. Thank you for the info.
