Dolly Parton Can Joke About "Jolene" Now
If you're a Dolly Parton fan like me, you not only know her music, but you know her stories, too. Take for example this song she wrote about a redhead named Jolene that used to work at the bank and flirt with her husband. In the song, Dolly pleads with Jolene -- with her flaming locks of auburn hair and ivory skin -- to not steal him away. As the story turns out, Dolly not only kept her man, but also got a No. 1 hit from the experience. Though she doesn't say it in this video, sometimes Dolly tells the audience that when she looks over at her husband sitting on the couch and watching television, she wishes ol' Jolene would have nabbed him all those years ago. She's joking, of course, but I still laugh every time she says it. Like the song itself, it's just another Dolly story that her fans never tire of hearing. Here's the performance from her recent DVD, Live From London.

Swilly says:
…and I can just imagine what Dolly’s husband is thinking about when he’s sitting there looking at her with no wig, no make-up etc…I have a few idea’s. Want to hear them?
Robin says:
Swilly - I’m sure he’s thinking. “I love this woman.”
Peacock Queen says:
Robin, as always, you are absolutely right on!
Swilly says:
Yes…that was one reply. Only you left out a word;)…and if anyone thinks Robin is “right on”, then you’ve been “left out” too long.
Peacock Queen says:
Then consider me left out, because Robin tends to make more sense than anyone else on here.
Swilly says:
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!
Robin says:
Swilly is swirling in bright lights and no oxygen.
Swilly says:
Coming from “Robin the Board Blunder”
Big Bully says:
Good one Swilly! He’s probably wondering how he ended up married to a person men dress up like(and not just for Halloween)..
Peacock Queen says:
Dolly has a great sense of humor. She jokes about her fake hair, fake nails, and makeup (not to mention her, ah, chest). I know you meant to be funny, Swilly, but Robin is right. Dolly and Carl have been married for many years, close to 50 if not more. I am sure they love each other, and the hair and makeup is just for the “showbiz” Dolly, not Carl’s wife. Also, I have seen photos of Dolly when she was younger, without the wigs and little makeup, and she’s beautiful.
Swilly says:
“da da da da da…Green Acres is for peacock queen…”
