Alright, GMA Clearly Loves Darius Rucker

Posted: December 15th, 2009 at 2:01 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Darius RuckerI love Darius Rucker's music, too. But come on. Aren't the other country artists going to start getting a little jealous? Clearly, the talent bookers (and you, Robin Roberts) at Good Morning America are playing favorites here. Rucker will be on tomorrow morning (Dec. 16) to do "History in the Making," a slow, sexy song about knowing that you're on the verge of forever. Then again on Christmas day he will be back for "Candy Cane Christmas," which USA Today calls a "lovely, orchestrated holiday tale." And this is all happening after he was just on with Roberts to announce CMA Award nominations. Whatever. If they are going to play favorites, I'm just glad they like who I like.

OK- how about the certain artist that CMT favors? I think this is hypocritical. Good for Darius. He has real talent.

    Omg what, are you serious?

So I guess if it was Taylor swift being on GMA it wouldn’t be a problem?

Yea I agree with what the first two said If it was Taylor Swift ya wouldnt be griping. Least Darius has songs that everyone can relate to!!!

If Taylor was on GMA, there would be about 15 blogs about how great it is. It’s nice to see some other artists getting attention for a change. Darius has made history this year also, but who would know that with all the attention on one person?

You make me giggle often Alison Bonaguro. While you say you like Darius, I don’t see you giving him this much attention. You don’t mind writing three blogs about Taylor in like 12 hours (after the Kanye incident). But, you have a problem with Darius (who has truely earned his fame) getting more than one minutes attention?

I think I’m going to giggle my entire drive home from work today. Thanks Al for the laugh!

Amen Robin - I am tired of being force-fed Taylor Swift!! Miranda Lambert is a MUCH better singer and songwriter! She deserves some props. Too much of a good thing can really ruin it! Everyone is OD’ing on Taylor….she needs to lay low for awhile…her 15 minutes of fame is almost up!

Wow. Surprise surprise. Another post spoiled with people complaining about Taylor. Get over it..

People are tired of hearing about Taylor. Alison writes one post about someone other than Taylor and it’s complaining about the attention another artist is getting. This is a biased and hypocritical post.

Amen Kim…I really liked Taylor, her song “tears on my guitar” is a song I would of loved to write.

But she got too big for me….

I am glad Darius is getting to show how great a singer he is.Who cares how many times he has appeared on the GMA show?It is very obvious that his talent is welcomed on this show and they want to show America how great he is.Alison, someone would think that you are jealous of Darius with your comments. If you do not like the fact that Darius is getting to reappear on GMA,then do not watch.GMA I hope you keep bringing Darius back many times.

Allison, you should takes two weeks off and then quit.

No AC - this blog wasn’t ruined by people complaining about Taylor “again”. This blog was ruined by even being written. Taylor’s biggest fan (and the person causing her to be the most blogged about artist on CMT) has the gaul to complain about someone else FOR A CHANGE getting their due attention.

People are just calling Allison on her hypocritical behavior/blog. Taylor fans don’t like others getting attention I suppose? “Attention Hog” anyone? Every minute of every day is not enough for them that they need to worry about the extra attention that Darius is getting?

Good for Darius he is very talented. Waaah its good to see someone besides Taylor get attention! Allisons blogs are usually one sided!

When I was a child, my father’s favorite artist was Charlie Pride. We all loved Charlie because he was such a talented vocalist, and we were overjoyed a few years ago when he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. How wonderful it is to have an extremely talented artist in country music today as Darius Rucker! A southern black man who has had success on the pop side, and now he is saying that country is cool and he wants a career there as well. Watch him go! Go Darius, go! I am a huge fan, I am so thankful for your success and I hope that other people of color will come to country music. And I don’t care if you are on GMA every week!!!!!

Peacock Queen, you are so correct.I am a huge country music fan and have been since I was a child.I am 49.My first record I ever was given by my parents was Charley Pride’s “Kiss An Angel Goodmorning”.I played this record so much that it was starting to skip and I knew every word to this song.I loved Charley Pride and as you were,I was so proud when he was inducted into the country hall of fame.I think Darius can have a career like Charley.I actually do not think Darius gets enough attention. So I am hoping he is seen more on tv even if it is the morning shows.
